Airbag deployment has been responsible for huge death, incidental injuries and broken bones due to low crash severity and wrong deployment decision. This misfortune has led the authorities and the industries to pursue uniquely designed airbags incorporating crash-sensing technologies. This paper provides a thorough discussion underlying crash sensing algorithm approaches for the subject matter. Unfortunately, most algorithms used for crash sensing still have some problems. They either deploy at low severity or fail to trigger the airbag on time. In this work, the crash-sensing algorithm is studied by analyzing the data obtained from the variables such as (i) change of velocity, (ii) speed of the vehicle and (iii) acceleration. The change of velocity is used to detect crash while speed of the vehicle provides relevant information for deployment decision. This paper also demonstrates crash severity with respect to the changing speed of the vehicle. Crash sensing simulations were carried out using Simulink, Stateflow, SimMechanics and Virtual Reality toolboxes. These toolboxes are also used to validate the results obtained from the simulated experiments of crash sensing, airbag deployment decision and its crash severity detection of the proposed system.

Design-Build, one contractor is responsible for both the design and construction, has become more popular since the government framed the policy on how to activate the design-build projects in 1996. The reality is, however, there are many problems encounted on Contractor Selection Method for Public Design-Build Projects. The purpose of this paper is to improve the problems, no way to meet the goal(value) the owners expect from the design-build projects, for instance, not fully reflecting the characteristics of projects and owners intention, not systematical enough to judge if bidders could carry out the contract. This study will insist we introduce Best Value Procurement, which is being commonly used in some advanced countries recently, so that we would properly select the contractor suitable for Best Value concept which totally depends on the owners, types of work and specified conditions. Furthermore, by passing through the Two-Step Procedures following Pre-qualification in Best Value Procurement, we expect it lighten the bidders' burden for proposal and the owners' complicate bid administration.

In this paper, I propose that the figurative structure of Tongjoo Yoon′s "One Night, Counting the Stars" reflects the poet′s anguish over the colonial reality of Korea in the later stages of the Japanese occupation, especially regarding the forced adoption of Japanese names in 1939. The poet Yoon himself registered at Yonhi College with an adopted Japanese name. In the second half of the poem, the speaker alludes to this historical fact when he confesses that "On a hill lit by myriads of stars / I spelled my name / And covered it over with dirt," and that he "laments (his) shameful name." In the simile of the last stanza, the speaker continues to allude to the "buried" name: "But past winter, come spring to my star, / As green grass sprouts on a grave mound, / So will it spread with pride / On the hill where my name is buried." The longing and the yearning, expressed so simply and in child-like manner in the first half of the poem, become in the second half an urgent need for something that should have been but cannot be, and yet will be in the future-for a world that should be, now lost but to be regained. The poem contains the poet′s earnest belief that the inherited Korean names that were then so shamefully taken away will one day be recovered. It is almost impossible to find any other work written in Korean (despite the most suppressive measures against the use of the Korean language) that also alludes to the adoption of Japanese names. In this respect, "One Night, Counting the Stars" has a unique value in the history of modem Korean literature.

The Solar and Space Weather Research Group (SOS) in Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) is constructing the Space Weather Prediction Center since 2007. As a part of the project, we are developing automatic real-time system of the global 3-D magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) simulation. The MHD simulation model of earth's magnetosphere is designed as modified leap-frog scheme by T. Ogino, and it was parallelized by using message passing interface (MPI). Our work focuses on the automatic processing about simulation of 3-D MHD model and visualization of the simulation results. We used PC cluster to compute, and virtual reality modeling language (VRML) file format to visualize the MHD simulation. The system can show the variation of earth's magnetosphere by the solar wind in quasi real time. For data assimilation we used four parameters from ACE data; density, pressure, velocity of solar wind, and z component of interplanetary magnetic field (IMF). In this paper, we performed some initial tests and made a animation. The automatic real-time system will be valuable tool to understand the configuration of the solar-terrestrial environment for space weather research.

The purpose of this study is to examine the ways in international married couples perceive the lives of their spouses as well as their own, and the ways in which they perceive their relationships with their children. In addition, the study attempts to explore the implicit meanings at work in the lives of international married families. The participants in this study were eight international married couples from rural areas and the data were gathered by means of semi-structured interviews. According to the findings, international married couples perceived their relationships with their children in terms of individual-specific maternal roles versus the Korean culturally-specific paternal roles. Secondly, in terms of their spouse' life, husbands relied more on their wives and had high expectations of them. On the other hand, wives had the tendency to pay more attention and place more hope on their children rather than their husbands. Lastly, regarding their own lives, the findings revealed that wives tended to maintain the hope and desire for a better life, whereas the husbands were unable to adapted to their reality and tended to look back on the past. In addition, the limitations of this study and suggestions for future studies were also discussed.

This paper examined various study case about cyber network and STEAM education. We develop this STEAM career education of Cyber Network subject for 3rd and 4th graders in elementary school. We make this program by considering about student's intellectual level and interests. We offered this program to elementary 3rd and 4th graders in Jeju island step by step to evaluate the effectiveness of the developed program and teaching materials. Future work will include the follow-up and extended study. It will be expected that students will be able to develop their abilities of career exploration.

Forest parks are regarded as one of the scientific ways to keep the forest sustainably developed, meanwhile deliver the benefits to the general public. The development of forest parks in China has experienced simply more than 20 years and both the exploitation and management institutions haven't been set up systematically, which, in reality, reflects as inadequate legislative and policy framework. Without the regulatory guidance and collaborating assistance of environment relating governmental sectors at both national and local levels, it's inevitable that the development of forest parks in the country would face constant problems and conflicts. Therefore, it might be helpful to sort out this conflicts and problems and further more to work out how to solve the barriers. The research in this report started with introducing the IUCN Protected Areas Categories, the overall current situations in China and compared the definition of forest parks in the country and that in international experience. It is to aim to find out the real usufruct rights conflicts during the exploitation and management of forest parks and the method used in this report is field visit, previous investigation, collecting secondary materials, interview, analysis and comparison. The research result in this report couldn't cover all the conflict situations during the forest parks' exploitation and management in China but will provide the analysis of this problem from the legal perspective. Practical application and concerning suggestion will be fully discussed in Part 5 in terms of legislative, social and environmental effects.

Recently, with various developments made to smart-phones and other digital devices in the IoT environment, modern people tend to pursue comfort in their own lifestyles. These environment has helped us to obtain any information or data in despite of location and time. But it has caused them to be overly reliant on digital devices in doing any kind of daily work, trusting the digital devices more than oneself. As a result of this over reliance, modern people's memorizing and calculating ability have deteriorated critically. This symptom is known as the Digital Dementia. In this paper, we study the phenomenon of digital dementia caused by smart-phones, and we suggest a method of developing "memorize the phone number" game applications in IoT environment to the problem of digital dementia. Test results show that, through the use of application, not only the users were able to have fun memorizing the numbers, but also, to show improvement in their memorizing ability. Thus, we expect that the application suggested above will help in preventing digital dementia and maintain brain health.

Objective: In this study, virtual reality was adopted to consider ergonomic factors in yacht design. Virtual human which is the same actual human was created in virtual environment using Digital Human Modeling which has been used in the manufacturing communities to design better workplaces and maximize the safety of workers. Background: During the past 40 years yachting has expanded from being, generally speaking, a minority sport - too expensive for the large majority of people - into a major recreational activity practiced by millions all over the world. Many new yacht designs have appeared and number of professional, as well as amateur designers has increased steadily. But they had not considered ergonomic factors in yacht design. Method: Worker's posture, traffic line and workload had been analyzed in sailing yacht. After the caution level was evaluated, we pointed out clues which had high workload and interference. To reduce workload, we applied ergonomic principles for improving working conditions and environments in Digital Human Model. Results: We found the space problems and workload of postures. Conclusion: (1) Unnatural posture of crews was sustained. (2) Workload that occurs in the human body was overloaded. (3) Crew's work space was very narrow. Application: This study will be applied the new ergonomic design of yacht.

This study is carried out to examine the purpose of utilization and the degree of satisfaction on the information collected from the Internet site for the understanding of the reality of clothing information for college students. The results are as fellows; 1 . Three primary factors have been abstracted for the satisfaction of information. 2. The difference in the purpose of utilizing information, depending on the individual characteristic of students and the features related to computer, was shown in the difference of major and school year, number of the internet connection per day, capability of using computer, period of using computer, and frequency of information searching. The more the number of internet connection per day, the less the capability of using computer, and searching for information when required, internet can be utilized for study and work. 3. The difference in the degree of information satisfaction, depending on the individual characteristic of students and the features related to computer, was shown in the difference of major, school year, opportunity to take computer-related course, frequency of searching information, and etc. More positive and satisfactory response was derived from these not majoring in clothing rather than those majoring, those taking computer course related to clothing, and those searching for clothing information periodically. 4. The primary factors affecting the satisfaction on the overall information of clothing show difference in terms of sex and frequency of searching information. Female students show lower degree of satisfaction than male students and more satisfaction on the information searched as the frequency of searching becomes less.
