  • In this paper, we survey Six Sigma in Korea company real fields. Six Sigma itself are developed depend on each company culture and strategy. Our country has been more than 10 years since introduced Six Sigma in our country. Each company which work six Sigma are developed differ way depending on his company situation. Our country Six Sigma in our country is necessary to survey and analysis. Firstly, we survey how to use Six Sigma. Next, we survey to find success factor and failure factor by reports published by company and papers by published in journals.

  • The Hall factor in a quantum well structure with X or L-type indirect conduction valleys is calculated for various strain conditions. The two-dimensional constant energy surfaces of occupied valleys are proven to be identical. As a result, the Hall factor depends on the relative direction of occupied valleys to the growth direction, regardless of the number of occupied valleys. This work is widely applicable to the two-dimensional structure with indirect conduction minima for any growth direction and under different strain conditions.

  • In this paper, a comparative study of modified phase-angle, extinction-angle, and pulse width modulation control techniques for the purpose of power factor improvement of single-phase AC-AC voltage regulators have been illustrated as applied to a single-phase ac voltage converter by an example of the widely used single-phase induction motor as a dynamic load. Observations on power factor, displacement factor and total harmonic distortion factor are described and discussed on the basis of the simulated and measured results of this work.

  • The focus of the present work is on the computation of the stress intensity factor for the crack at the elastic-viscoelastic bimaterial interface. First, the stress intensity factor for an interface crack in dissimilar elastic and viscoelastic materials is dervied by applying the correspondence principle to associated elastic expression. Then the time-domain boundary element analysis is performed to calculate the stress intensity factor. Numerical results show that the proposed method is very useful for the analysis of the interface crack in elastic and viscoelastic materials.

  • Allowable stress design(ASD) method has been widely used to design steel structures such as boiler and heat recovery steam generator(HRSG) of power plant. However, many researchers are recently intrested in road and resistance factor design(LRFD) method which may take the place of ASD. In this work, the weight calculation of steel structure was compared when ASD and LRFD were applied respectively. For the calculation of weight of steel structure, computer program was developed and applied to obtain beam weight. Using this program and GTSTRUDL, structural design program, weight of steel structure is calculated. As a result of weight calculation, maximum 5.4% of weight reduction is achieved among examples of this study by applying LRFD comparing with the result of ASD, and those results quite dependent on the applied load and member classification.

  • Reduction factor for installation damage required to calculate design strength of geogrid used in MSEW(mechanically stabilized earth wall) design is usually obtained in the field test simulating real construction condition. However, damages occurred in geogrid during backfill work are influenced by many factors such as polymer types, unit weight per area, backfill construction method and gradation of backfill material and field test considering these factors demand lots of time and costs. In this study, factors affecting installation damage are analyzed and empirical method to evaluate reduction factor for installation damage using maximum particle size in backfill material is suggested.

  • This experimental work was carried out to investigate the fatigue bending strength on various shapes and sizes of notches of the domestically manufactured steel plate. The notch types tested were a circular hole, U-and V-notches. The S-N diagram for different notch shapes were discussed in relation to plan bending strength and stress concentration factor of notches .The results of the experiments are summarized as follows : (1) The difference between stress concentration factor and notch factor was greater as the radium of notch root became smaller, and these values approached to an identical value as the radium of notch root increased. (2) It was shown that the plane bending fatigue limit of bar without notch for the hotrolled steel having the tensile strength of 33.1kg/$mm^2$was 17.0kg/$mm^2$. (3) U-and V-notch had a greater effect of stress concentration factor on the endurance limit, but O-hole showed the same effect only for $\o\pm2mm$. (4) For the same radius of notch root, U-notch showed a lower value of fatigue limit compared to V-notch and O-hole.

  • The neutron multiplication factor in spent fuel storage racks, in which a stainless steel plate encloses a fuel assembly, was evaluated according to the variation of distance between the fuel assembly and stainless steel plate, as well as the pitch. The stainless steel plate position with the lowest multiplication factor on each pitch consistently appeared as 6mm or 9mm away from the outmost surface of the fuel assembly. Because the stainless steel plate has a thermal neutron absorption cross section, its ability to absorb neutrons can work best only if it is installed at the position where thermal neutrons can be gathered most easily. Therefore, the stainless steel plate position should not be too close or too far away from the fuel assembly, but it should be kept a pertinent distance from the fuel assembly.
