Purpose: To evaluate the clinical and radiological results of internal fixation with tension band wiring for the fracture at the base of fifth metatarsal bone. Materials and Methods: From January 2008 to December 2009, 15 cases with displaced fracture at the base of fifth metatarsal were analyzed and average follow up period was 13.8 months. Lawrence classification was used to classify fracture type. We evaluated clinical results by American Orthopedic Foot Ankle Society (AOFAS) midfoot score and radiological results by union time. Complications was also checked. Results: According to classification, zone I fracture were 11 cases and zone II fracture were 4 cases. Bony union was achieved in all cases after 7 weeks. In the final follow-up, average AOFAS score was 94. There were no complications except hardware irritation. Conclusion: Satisfactory results were obtained after tension band wiring for the fifth Metatarsal base fracture in zone I fracture or comminuted zone II fracture for which it is not easy to be fixed with screw.
The method of conductor wiring is that a messenger wire is installed, the end of the wire is connected to the conductor and a engine puller pulls the conductor. The length of one section of wiring is $3{\sim}5km$ and one group messenger wire pulls simultaneously $2{\sim}4$ group conductor, while a tensioner maintains wiring tension to prevent the deflection of the conductor. However, there are many obstacles such as roads, power lines, communication lines, buildings, farms and crops. Therefore to prevent damage from conductor deflection a staging is used. The currently used staging is scaffolding lumber which is difficult to secure and it's construction efficiency is very low because it requires a lot of time and manpower. So this study developed a insulating defense tube and pipe connecting device, and a truss structure fabrication module using steel pipe which reduces construction time and cost through a compressive and dielectric strength test.
In this paper, we ecamined the effect that MCM-L technique influencess on the design and fabrication of multichip memory modules in increasing the packing desity of memory capacity and maximizing its electrical characteristics. For that purpose, we examined the effective methods of reducing the area of module layout and the wiring length with the variation of chip allocation and the number of wiring layers. We fabricated a 256K${\times}$8bit SRAM module with eight 32K${\times}$8bit SRAM chips. The routing experiment showed that we could optimize the area of module layout and wiring length by placing chips in a row, arranging module I/O pads parallel to chip I/O pads, and equalizing the number of terminal sides of module I/O's to that of chip I/O's. The routing was optimized when we used three wire layers in case of one sided chip mounting or five wire layers in case of double sided chip mounting. The fabricated modules showed 18.9 cm/cm$^{2}$ in wiring density, 65 % in substrate occupancy efficiency, and module substrate and functionally tested to find out the module working perfectly.
This paper presents a new architecture, called "Power Electronics Remote Wiring and Measurement Laboratory (PermLAB)", that translates a common gateway interface (CGI) string from a remote web user to a web server connected to a 3-dimension switching matrix board, can be used to switch on and off, and to control a cluster of instruments and components. PermLAB addresses real-time connection, switching, and data acquisition over the Internet instead of using simulated data. A software procedure uses a signature system to identify each instrument and component in a complex system. The Web-server application is developed in HTML, JavaScript and Java, and in C language for the CGI interface, which resides in a controller portion of LabVIEW. The LabVIEW software fully integrates the Web sever, LabVIEW data acquisition boards and controllers, and the 3-dimensional switching matrix board. The paper will analyze a half-wave rectifier (AC - DC converter) circuit connected over the Internet using the PermLAB. PermLAB allows students to obtain real data by real-time wiring of real circuits in the laboratory using a "virtual breadboard" on the Web. The software for the Web-based 3-dimensional system is flexible, portable, can be integrated into many laboratory applications or expanded, and easily accessible worldwide.

This paper dealt with the extraction of series arc signals based on wavelet transform in order to improve the accuracy of arc detection in indoor wiring systems. Three types of arc sources including a cord-cord, a terminal-cord, and an outlet-plug were fabricated to simulate typical arc defects. An arc generator fabricated according to UL 1699 was used to generate arcs. The optimal mother wavelet was selected as bior1.5 by calculating the correlation coefficients between the detected single current pulse and the wavelet. The detected arc current signals were then decomposed into eight levels using the discrete wavelet transform that implements the multi-resolution analysis method. By analyzing the decomposed components, the detail components D6, D7, and D8 were associated with arc signals, which were used for signal reconstruction. From the result, it was verified that the proposed method can be used for the extraction of the series arc signal from the AC mains, which is expected to be applied to further analysis of arc signals in indoor wiring systems.
According to the incresement of aging aircraft, Republic of Korea Air Force (RoKAF) conducted a teardown inspection of aircraft's EWIS (electrical wiring interconnection system) to determine the status of deterioration and the influence of failure occurrences due to it. The inspected aircraft were the retired fighter jets that had been used for more than 40 years. By analyzing defect type and the defect tendency, RoKAF can establish the necessary measures for the usage extension of their fleet and furthermore, the analysis results can be used as a basic data for the preparation of it's aircraft aging. EWIS inspection was done throughout careful visual inspection technique by removing all the ducts and pipes located in the fuselage and wings. For the aircraft wiring where no damage was found, the elongation tests were performed to determine the deterioration of wiring according to the location of the aircraft. The connectors, which is the main cause of intermittent failure, were completely disassembled and inspected for internal damage such as corrosion, abrasion, and traces of foreign objects. The detected defects were classified into 4 severity levels based on the type of damage, and the classified defects were weighted according to the criticality which may affects to it's system to establish the action plan.
Purpose: Traumatic telecanthus can result from nasoethmoid-orbital fractures. Repair of the medial canthal tendon (MCT) using transnasal wiring is regarded as a choice of method to treat telecanthus, however, is often complicated by incomplete anchoring and drift of canthus, extrusion of wire, in-fracture of orbital bone, and eye damage. The authors introduced oblique transnasal wiring method through the Hiraga's epicanthopalsty incision instead of well-known classical bicoronal approach. Methods: Five patients with traumatic telecanthus were treated with this method. Though the Hiraga's epicanthoplasty incision, we could approach the operative field; the medial orbital wall and detached MCT. Oblique transnasal wiring was performed as following steps. After slit skin incision on the contralateral nasal recession area, drill holes were made from this point to the superior and posterior point of lacrimal sac of deformed eye. A 2-0 wire was double-passed through the holes and MCT. Traction was applied to ensure pulling the MCT and the wires were twisted in the contralateral nose, securing the MCT in the correct position. Results: All patients except 1 person showed improvement and rapid recovery. On average each canthus was moved 5.6 mm medially. In all cases, there were no eyelashes disappear, lacrimal canaliculitis, lacrimal duct injury, or infections. Conclusion: The Hiraga's epicanthoplasty incision could give sufficient operative field to reattach the MCT in traumatic telecanthus patients. And the oblique transnasal wiring technique is effective for the Asians who have flat nose and exophthalmic eye. The authors conclude that this technique could be a simple, safe and scarless method to correct traumatic telecanthus.

Purpose: The primary objective of the current study is to demonstrate the trochanteric wiring technique. A secondary objective is to evaluate the clinico-radiological outcomes of use of the wiring technique during primary arthroplasty for treatment of unstable and failed intertrochanteric fractures. Materials and Methods: A prospective study including follow-up of 127 patients with unstable and failed intertrochanteric fractures who underwent primary hip arthroplasty using novel multi-planar trochanteric wiring was conducted. The average follow-up period was 17.8±4.7 months. Clinical assessment was performed using the Harris hip score (HHS). Radiographic evaluation was performed for assessment of union of the trochanter and any mechanical failure. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: At the latest follow-up, the mean HHS showed significant improvement from 79.9±1.8 (at three months) to 91.6±5.1 (P<0.05). In addition, no significant difference in the HHS was observed between male and female patients (P=0.29) and between fresh and failed intertrochanteric fractures (P=0.08). Union was achieved in all cases of fractured trochanter, except one. Wire breakage was observed in three patients. There were five cases of limb length discrepancy, three cases of lurch, and three cases of wire-related bursitis. There were no cases of dislocation or infection. Radiographs showed stable prosthesis in situ with no evidence of subsidence. Conclusion: Use of the proposed wiring technique was helpful in restoring the abductor level arm and multi-planar stability, which enabled better rehabilitation and resulted in excellent clinical and radiological outcomes with minimal risk of mechanical failure.
Low voltage circuit breakers which interrupt rapidly and raise the reliability of power supply are widly used in power distribution systems. In the paper, it was investigated how much Interrupting capability was improved by correcting the shape of the contact system in molded case circuit breaker(below MCCB), especially arc runner. Prior to the interrupting testing, it was necessary for the optimum design to analyze electromagnetic forces on the contact system, generated by current and flux density. This paper presents both our compuational analysis and test results on contact system in MCCB
Phenomenon, such as hardening, cracking or breaking etc.. of PVC tape for wiring harness by aging were detected on driven automobile in field. Hardening or cracking of PVC tape were confirmed decline of elongation by surrounding stress. The accelerated heat aging test was carried out applying temperature most important factor of aging, and then deduced an equation of useful life using arrhenius model. Prediction method of useful life of PVC tape was developed using miner rule calculating damage value by thermal energy classified temperature by matching deduced equation of useful life and measured temperature value on driven automobile in field.
