  • In this paper, we study the characteristics of dual band microstrip antenna with the wedge-shaped radiation patch added the slot using air substrate. Wedge-shaped patch antenna with air substrate is avoided the large probe reactance associated with a thick substrate owing to the use of short probe and good impedance matching over a wide frequency range can be obtained. Slot on the antenna radiator varies the reactance component according to the employed frequency and affect the resonance freaqency of the antenna, therefore the antenna can resonate at the dual band(cellular and PCS band). The slot length and position have an effect on the bandwidth and input impedance of the antenna are optimized by simulation. From the experiment results for the fabricated antenna, -10 dB of $S_{11}$ is content with the allocated bandwidth of Cellular and PCS system and - 15 dB of cross polarization level. From the results of this paper, it has been confirmed that the proposed antenna can be used as the base station antenna fur Cellular and PCS band.

  • When the current flows to parallel lines with different length, it is researched that the radiation is occured by the common-mode current radiates, and the small light weight antenna composed of dual elements by using the principle is proposed. However, there is a problem in production about this antenna because this liner antenna is structured by combining with wires. In this paper, we improved this liner antenna, and designed the plane antenna composed of dual elements with different length in the plane printed board to produce and to design easily. Furthermore, the antenna with the wide-band characteristic is also designed in the same board. The radiation pattern is similar to the dipole antenna on account of designing the triangular patch S, the notch and two tapers in patch S, the notch and two tapers in the antenna element. In result, it was able to design the antenna working wider band-width(the bandwidth ratio about 58%, $VSWR{\le}2$).

  • In order to avoid the interference from existing narrowband communication systems, this paper proposes a compact band-notched UWB (ultra wideband) antenna with size of $12mm{\times}22mm{\times}1.6mm$. Transmission line model is applied to analyzing wide impedance matching characteristic of the modified base antenna, which has a gradual stepped impedance feeder structure. The proposed antenna realizes dual band-notched function by combining two biased T-shaped parasitic elements on the rear side with a window aperture on the radiation patch. The simulation current distributions of the antenna reflect resonant suppression validity of the two methods. In addition, the measured radiation characteristics demonstrate the proposed antenna prevents signal interference from WLAN (5.15-5.825GHz) and WiMAX (3.4-3.69GHz) effectively, and the measured patterns show the antenna omnidirectional radiation in working frequencies.

  • A microstrip patch antenna with B-WLL applications is designed at 26.8GHz. A broad band is obtained by two additional parasitic elements which are closely located to the main patch. Bandwidth of the designed and manufactured antenna is 15% at the center frequency of 26.8GHz. Radiation pattern is measured over wide bandwidth.

  • We have proposed a bow-tie UWB antenna using a U-shaped stub. The proposed antenna covers the entire ISM frequency (2.45 GHz) and DS-OFDM UWB band ($3.1\;{\sim}\;5\;GHz$). Simulated and measured results are found to be in good agreement with each other. The designed antenna has the figure-of-eight radiation pattern, wide bandwidth, dual-band, and negligible dispersion over the operating frequency band.

  • In this paper, triple band mobile chip antenna for DCS(1.71~1.88GHz) / PCS(1.75~1.87GHz) / UPCS(1.85~1.99GHz) on PCB Layout is designed. To analyze the characteristics of the designed antenna, we designed and measured Single, Dual, Triple Band antenna. The designed antenna was fabricated and measured using vector network analyzer in LTK(Laird Technologies Korea). Triple and wide band characteristic could be realized the measured bandwidth(V.S.W.R<2.0) of designed antenna operated in the band of 1.71GHz~1.99GHz. This antenna has a small size of about $19mm{\times}4mm{\times}1.6mm$, narrow bandwidth which is a defect of chip antenna is improved. And its experimental results were a good agreement with simulation performance.

  • In this paper, to implement the electromagnetic wave environment and solve electromagnetic compatibility(EMC) problem, miniaturization of ultra-wide band log periodic dipole antenna for measurement was investigated. In addition, in oder to improve the signal-to-noise ratio in high frequency band, balun was connected to the antenna to stabilize the operation of the differential mode antenna and the single mode coaxial cable. To minimize the total size and to increase bandwidth of the antenna, a fat dipole structure was used for the resonance frequency band below 4 GHz and a general dipole shape was used for that above 4 GHz. The bandwidth of the proposed antenna was represented from 0.6 GHz to 8.0 GHz with a ratio bandwidth of 12.3 : 1. Measured peak gain varies from 5.7 dBi to 9.1 dBi, and a half power beamwidth was presented from $29.4^{\circ}$ to $100.2^{\circ}$ in operating range.

  • The object of this paper is to investigate the influence of antenna pattern on indoor radio channel characteristics. Different from previous works where this analysis was carried out at a fixed frequency using different antennas, in the present paper (where measurements were taken in a wide frequency range) the variation of the radiation pattern was caused by two factors: the change of the radiation pattern when the same antenna was used at different frequenicies and the use of different type of antennas. To carry out this analysis, frequency domain measurements of the indoor radio channel at 1 GHz, 5.5 GHz, 10 GHz and 18 GHz were collected. Measurements were taken using a network analyzer. Serveral re-alizations of the channel transfer function were obtained varying, for each measurement, the positon of the transmitter and keep-ing the receiver fixed. Estimate of the channel impulse response was obtained from the Inverse Fourier Transform (IFT) of the fre-quency response. The measurements were performed in an office enviroment with mostly metallic walls and inner separations. The obtained data were elaborated to obtain the power versus distance relationship, the Cummulative Distribution Functions(CDFs) of rms Delay Spread(DS) and of the 3 dB frequency correlation band-width. Finally, the 3 dB width of the frequency correlation func-tion has been empirically related to the inverse of the rms DS of the impulse response.

  • We propose a method for increasing the bandwidth of a substrate-integrated-waveguide (SIW) cavity-backed antenna with taper-based micro-strip SIW transition feeding. For radio transmission, a circular slot is etched on top of the SIW cavity. For optimal antenna design, the slot is etched slightly away from the cavity center to generate circularly polarized waves. Simulations show a wide axial ratio bandwidth of 7.860% between 11.02 GHz and 11.806 GHz. Experimental results confirm a similar wide axial ratio bandwidth of 4.9% between 10.8 GHz and 11.35 GHz. An SIW feed from an inductive window excites the radiating circular slot, resulting in a simulated wide impedance range of 1.548 GHz (10.338 GHz-11.886 GHz) and bandwidth of 13.93%. Experimental results show a wide impedance of 2.08 GHz (10.2 GHz-12.08 GHz) and bandwidth of 18.84%. The SIW cavity-backed antenna creates a unidirectional pattern, leading to gains of 6.61 dBi and 7.594 dBi in simulations and experiments, respectively. The proposed antenna was fabricated on a Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 substrate, and the reflection coefficient, radiation patterns, and gains were tested and compared using a computer simulator. The developed broadband antenna seems suitable for X-band applications.
