서해안의 낙조 테마 철도 관광산업 개발에 관한 기초 연구 (A Basic Study on Developing the Theme of Railway Tourism Industry Considering the Sunset in the West-Coast)

  • By Chinese growth, economic development and investment of the West-coast are consisting. Specially, the West-coast area need tourist development and tourism Import for the Incheon and the Pyeongtaekhang of the Gyeonggido Province, China trade through the Chungcheongdo Province area. According to such regional special quality, the railroad tourism industry should be activated. Sunset of tourism infra in the West-coast is high value as representative goods of the West coast. Development of the theme railroad tourism industry that utilize the tide may maximize regional advantage of China and capital region. This research is basis investigation to examine development possibility as sunset theme railroad tourism industry of the West-coast. Scope of this research limited by the sunset theme railroad tourism industry for the Chungchongdo Province area.

Characteristics of Wintering Habitat use by Black-tailed Gulls (Larus crassirostris) on the West Coast of Korea

  • This study used a GPS tracker to determine characteristics of wintering habitat use by black-tailed gulls on the west coast of Korea. Results of this study showed a southward movement in December and a northward movement in March. The wintering habitat was confirmed to include the southwest coastal island area (Group 1), the inland coastal area (Group 2), and China (Group 3). The wintering home range was the narrowest in October and the widest in December. Home range of Group 1 was increased from November, showing the maximum in December, decreased in February, and then tended to increase again in March. Group 2 showed the widest home range in November and a narrow range of home range from December. Home range of Group 3 showed a mixed pattern of group 1 and group 2. The flight rate was the lowest in January and the highest in March. Day and night flight rates showed significant differences by month. This study identified wintering characteristics of the West Coast population of black-tailed gulls on the West Coast, including their wintering areas, migration periods, and use patterns. These wintering characteristics of black-tailed gull in the west coast area are thought to be affected by environmental factors (such as food resources and fishing activities) and geographical characteristics of the West Coast where many islands are distributed.

황해도굿의 비교민속학적고찰 모의사냥과 동물공희를 중심으로 (Comparative Folklore Study on Gut in West Coast Area case of a mock hunting and animal sacrifice)

  • 황해도 굿에서 사냥거리와 타살거리, 군웅거리는 사냥으로 제물을 마련하여 동물이 희생되어 신령에게 바치기까지의 과정을 의례적으로 표현하고 있다. 이러한 황해도 굿의 특징인 모의사냥과 동물희생의 의례는 일본의 시바마츠리에서도 행해지고 있다. 이 논문은 황해도 굿과 시바마츠리를 비교민속학적 관점에서 구조적으로 비교해보았다. 황해도 굿은 기존의 연구 성과에서 소찬으로 모셔지는 신령과 육찬으로 모셔지는 신령으로 구분되는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이러한 신령에 대한 구분은 농경문화와 수렵문화를 각기 배경을 달리하는 신관(神觀)에서 비롯되었음을 알 수 있다. 황해도 굿은 여러 생산기반을 달리하는 무속을 수용하여 형성되었다. 따라서 굿의 목적에 따라 거리는 재편성하여 진행된다. 사냥거리는 제물이 산에서 마련하였음을 극적으로 표현하며, 생명력있는 동물이 타살됨으로서 군웅신을 환유로 나타내며 제물이 제공된다. 따라서 동물희생의례는 제물의 액을 풀어주고 신령으로부터 의지를 얻어내는 양의적인 의례이다. 일본의 시바마츠리가 행해지는 지역은 수렵과 밭농사를 겸하는 산간의 반농반렵(半農半獵)의 지역으로 농경의례와 수렵의례가 복합적으로 나타나있다. 정월에 행하는 시바마츠리는 산에서의 농사와 수렵의 시작으로 풍요를 기원하는 의미도 있다. 따라서 화전농경을 상징적으로 나타내는 동화제(洞火祭)와 모의적인 사냥과 동물희생의 의례가 복합적으로 구성되어 있다. 이러한 의례는 동남아시아의 산간지역의 밭농사민이 정초에 행하는 의례적 수렵관행과 일치한다. 황해도굿과 일본 시바마츠리는 표면적으로 모의사냥과 동물희생이 의례적으로 이루어지는 공통점이 있으나 구조적으로는 달리하고 있다. 즉 이러한 동물희생의례는 문화적 배경을 달리하며 각기 의례가 형성되었음을 알 수 있다.

Ratio of Mixing Effects due to Wind, Surface Cooling, and Tide on West Coast of Korea in December, 1998

  • Data obtained from a cruise from 4~12 December, 1998 was analyzed to estimate the mixing effects of wind, surface cooling, and tide. A band denoting a mixing area with a temperature difference of less than 1$^{\circ}C$ between the sea surface and the bottom extended 40~60 km from the coast into the open sea, following 125$^{\circ}$ 30\` E in longitude. This band was divided into two areas; a well-mixed area close to the coast and a stratified region in the open sea. The mixing effect due to the wind was only 2%, yet the mixing effect due to the tides was about 68%. This indicates that surface cooling and tides were the major factors involved in the mixing mechanism on the west coast during the cooling season.

서해안고속도로가 충남 서해안 지역에 미친 파급효과 및 주민인지 (The Regional Ripple Effects and Residents' Perceptions of the West Coast Highway on West Coast Regions of Chung-nam Province)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the regional ripple effects and residents' perceptions of the West Coast Highway on four regions of Chung-nam province. The data was collected through questionnaire interviews with 400 residents in four regions of the west coast area. After data cleaning, the statistical methods used were confirmative factor and cluster analysis with 309 sampled from four regions of Dangjin, Boryong, Seosan and Taean. The results of this study were as follows. First, it is classified, according to the residents' perceptions against the opening of the West Coast Highway, into four groups. Group A is the people who haven't lived there long and mainly consists of relatively young (30's-40's) males, while Group B is the people with lower incomes and middle-aged males (40's) who have lived there for 11 to 20 years. Group C is mainly the people who are middle-aged housewives in their 40's and who haven't lived there long and with a relatively higher income. Group D is the people who lived for less than five years and had lower incomes than other groups. The results show that their perceptions against the influence of regional development differ demographically from each other. In conclusion, it was determined that most of them were concerned that it, coupled with the construction of the West Coast Highway, would damage the surrounding countryside but believed it would contribute to the growth of the region's economy. Whereas groups A and B seem to acknowledge the necessity of regional development and environmental protection, groups B and D appear to be more content with the tourism development derived from the West Coast Highway and are paying more attention to such plans than other two groups.

서해안 세립토의 국지적 침식특성 평가 (Evaluation of Local Erosion Characteristics of Fine-Grained Soils in the West Coast Area)

  • 지반의 저항인자인 침식특성을 정량화하여 이를 세립토 지반의 세굴심 산정에 반영하는 것은 세계적인 추세이다. 이러한 노력의 일환으로 국내에서 많은 장대 해상교량이 계획 또는 시공되고 있는 서해안 지역 세립토 지반의 침식특성을 실험을 통해 분석하였다. 대상지역으로는 인천대교 현장, 강화 초지대교 현장, 환경교 현장, 군산 장항지구 등 4곳을 선정하였으며, 총 34개의 불교란시료를 채취하여 세굴률 실험을 수행하였다. 지반의 침식능을 나타내는 한계전단응력은 지반의 비배수전단 강도와 비례하는 경향을 보였으며, 점성을 가진 세립토가 세굴에 대한 저항이 보다 큰 것으로 나타났다. 실험을 통해 지역별 침식특성을 분석 및 체계화하여 서해안 지역 장대교량 건설시 보다 정확한 세굴심도 산정 및 기초 설계를 위한 기초자료로 제공하고자 한다.

기온분포의 특성에 의한 우리나라의 기후형에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Climatic Type in Korea by the Characteristics of Temperature Distribution)

  • The climate of a given region is determined by the combination of the various climatic elements. But among them, the temperature is the most important element to classify the climatic type. The author attempted to classify the climatic types in Korea by making a analysis of the characteristics of temperature distribution. To accomplish the study, the author analyzed the daily and yearly range of temperature, the warmest and coldest months, continentality and oceanicity, thermal anomaly, and relative temperature, etc. The data of 153 weather stations are used for the analysis of the above five criteria. As a result of the study, the climate of Korea can be divided into three types, namely, the continental, coastal and intermediate(or transitional) type. The Pronounced continental type is appeared in the northern part of highland area. And the coastal type is limited to the east and south coast areas, and the southern part of the west coast area. The continentality is larger, and the oceanicity smaller, than those of Siberia, Mongolia and the inland area of China where the continental climate is most remarkable in the world. The reason why the west coast area is more continental than the east coast area may be due to the terrain effect and the warm current going north along the east coastline.

국내 해안지역의 오손특성 분석 (Analysis of Salt Contamination in the domestic coast area)

  • We installed the measurement equipment which measure the equivalent Salt Deposit Density(ESDD) of the domestic coast area in the selected 112 place and investigated the influence of the wind which blow at the point of 500m from coast installing a wind vane, wind gauge for realtime measurement. During september${\sim}$december, 2005, ESDD which passively measured at the point of 50m from coast is maximum C grade in the Homigot of Pohang, B grade in the Gochang and A grade in the remaining point. Also ESDD which is measured in the east coast, west coast respectively is the more the distance being far from the coast to inland, the more ESDD rapidly decreasing but each area of the south coast is difficult to identify the decreased tendency because of very low measurements.

Lightning activity in summer monsoon precipitation over Korean peninsula

  • Cloud-to ground lightning and total precipitation over Korean peninsula during the summer monsoon season are studied extensively with a special emphasis on the characteristics of convective precipitation. Ten years (1988-1997) lightning and rainfall data and a temporal and spatial scale of one month and 10$^2$ km$^2$ respectively are used to calculate the monthly number of CG lightning flash count. Monsoonal convective activity is higher over the west coast with maxima at two different regions, one in the northern part which increases nortwestward and the other is at the middle west coast of Korea increasing towards the west coast. East coast represents the minimum value of monsoonal convective activity. In the east coast of Korean peninsula, particularly in the region east of Tae-back mountain, the value of Rain yield, (which is defined as the ratio of total precipitation to CG flash count over a common area), is maximum with an average value of 3$\times$10$^{8}$ kg fl$^{-1}$, while the minimum value of rain yield is occurred in the west of Tae-back mountain, with an average value of 0.8$\times$10$^{8}$ kg fl$^{-1}$. Results show in the west coast stations, nearly 82% of the total rainfall is convective in nature, at the middle of the peninsula 53% of the total rain is convective while in the east coast stations 46% contribution from the convective rain is seen. Kanghwa receives the maximum convective rain while at Ulsan the convective rain is minimum. Correlation coefficient between the total precipitation and CG lightning during the summer monsoon season is 0.54.

Relationship between halophyte distribution and soil environmental factors in the west coast of South Korea

  • Background: The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between soil environmental factors and halophyte distribution in the west coast of South Korea. Soils of our study sites were categorized into two groups: salt marsh and estuary marsh. Results: Salinity was higher in the salt marsh group than that in the estuary marsh group. However, total nitrogen, silt, and clay contents were higher in the estuary marsh group than those in the salt marsh group. Although altitude had a wider range in the salt marsh group, the mean altitude was higher in the estuary marsh group than that in the salt marsh group. Annual halophytes of seed propagation species were distributed parallel to the coast line on salt marsh. Higher coverage of vegetation was found in the area closer to the coast line. Plant density was higher near dead parental plants in estuary marsh, showing less difference in area that was more distant from the coast line. Conclusions: Results of canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) for vegetation distribution and sediment environmental factors and germination analysis in the coast line showed significant relationship with halophyte distribution. Therefore, they can be used as an indicator of coastal plant movement due to sea level rise.
