  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to identify the correlations between the ego-states of the 119 emergency medical technicians(119 EMTs) and the burnout and help them grow as a profession. Method : This is a descriptive study and the subjects of this study were 81 EMTs in 119 fire station in G City. This study tried to reveal the burnout in 119 EMTs in accordance with ego-state. Results : The highest score of 119 EMTs was the Nutrition Parent(NP) which showed $32.90{\pm}2.07$. The second highest was of the Critical Parent(CP), $31.95{\pm}2.79$. The Ego-gram profile of 119 EMTs was slope N type. The burnout was $78.90{\pm}13.19$, the physical burnout was highest($28.86{\pm}4.14$) in the low rank territory. The ego state according to level, the comparison of the degree of burnout, Free Child(FC) all but the type of ego-states burnout of the high groups appeared to be much higher. The correlations between their ego-states and the burnout of 119 EMTs appeared to be related to the 'plus(+)' correlation for the Free Child(FC ; r=0.243, p=0.029) and the Adapted Child(AC ; r=0.567, p=0.000), and CP, NP and Adult(A) appeared to be unrelated to the correlation. Results of the regression analysis show that the personal characteristic that has the biggest effect on the burnout of 119 EMTs was the AC(0.717), which seems to have a measurable effect on the statistics(p<0.01). • Objectives: Lung cancer is a major public health problem and one of the most costly illnesses. The study aimed to estimate the economic burden of lung cancer in Iran in 2014. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted to estimate the direct and indirect costs for patients with lung cancer using a prevalence-based approach. A human capital approach was employed to estimate the indirect costs. Data were obtained from several sources such as through patient interview using structured questionnaire, medical records, the GLOBOCAN databases, the Iranian Statistical Center, the Iranian Ministry of Cooperation, Labor and Social Welfare, and the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME). Results: The economic burden of lung cancer in Iran in the year 2014 was 3,225,998,555,090 IR. The main components of the cost were associated with mortality (81.9 %) and hospitalization (7.6 %). The costs of direct medical care, non-medical aspects, patient time, and mortality accounted for 10.8%, 2.7%, 4.5%, and 81.5% of the total cost, respectively. Conclusion: Findings from this study indicated that the economic burden of lung cancer is substantial both to Iran's health system and to society as a whole. Early diagnosis, strengthening cancer prevention, implementing new cancer therapy and medical technology, and effective smoking-cessation interventions could offset some of the costs associated with lung cancer in Iran.

  • The study analyzes divorce rates in Korea and makes suggestions for the future research of divorce rates. Based on the data from Korea Statistical Information System (KOSIS) of the National Statistics Organization, trends for divorce rates change and the relations between divorce rates and macro environmental factors are analyzed. Macro environmental factors include socioeconomic factors such as, Korean War, Vietnam War, oil shock, IMP economic crisis and gross national income (GNI), whereas demographical factors include population structure, rates of female labor participation, and geographical location. The principle characteristics of divorce rates are as follows: 1) the Crude divorce rates (CDR) and the number of divorced had been increased from 1970 to 2004, then the trend changed to a decrease; 2) the slope of the change were the highest during 1998 to 2004 after the IMP economic crisis. The relations between socioeconomic factors are as follows: 1) during the war there was a small increase of CDR for a short period of time; 2) the economic crisis of the nation tend to increase the CDR, while the IMP economic crisis had a strong impact on an increase of CDR because of the interaction effect among the population structure, women's sex role changes as well as the level of standard of living. The increase in CDR from 1990 to 2000 can be explained partly by the population of baby Boomers passing through their marriage and divorce process. The number of population residing in the rural area and the middle class households, and the mobility of population also had an impact on the divorce rates changes. The recommendations for the future research were as follows: 1) the need to develop new divorce statistics that are based on a marriage cohort or a birth cohort because family behavior is a mixture of personal, social and political responses, and because CDR is not an accurate measure of divorce rate since it was influenced by population structure; 2) the need to include micro personal factors as well as macro social factors in a model to find an interaction effect between those variables.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the projectile factors and biomechanical characteristics of men's hammer throwing during turning phases. Four national leveled athletes including Korea national record holder participated in this study. After full warm-up, each participant performed 6 trials of hammer throwing with their best. The best recorded trial was selected from each participant and they were analyzed for this study. Three-Dimensional motion analysis using a system of 5 video cameras at a sampling frequency 60Hz was performed for this study. As the number of turns increased, athletes revealed following characteristics. 1) The single and double support time decreased. 2) The rotation foot was closed to axis foot and it revealed greater medio-lateral displacement than that of horizontal one. 3) At the transition point from double support to single support, ball was in front of rotation foot so that not much angular velocity obtained. For the projectile factors, projectile angle did not show differences while projectile height and velocity revealed differences among the participants. It may indicated that each athlete has different fitness and skill level to resist centrifugal force which become larger as the number of turn increased.

  • This article examined the condition of medical service utilization and the usage degree for the disabled in Korea, and analyzed factors affecting medical service utilization. This paper offers data for improving the health of disabled Korea residents and for enhancing medical service utilization. We analyzed data for disabled residents aged 19 from the 6th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Results found significant effects depending on gender, age, average monthly income, types of disorders, disability rating, and status of smoking. Concerning gender, men had a higher probability of lacking medical treatment compared with women, had increased probability of having a disability, and smokers had a higher probability of lacking treatment compared with nonsmokers. Therefore, for resolving medically untreated disabled Korean residents, government needs to improve the policy system and to managethe inequality of handicapped welfare work.
