AISI 304 스테인리스 강판의 Nd:YAG 펄스 레이저 용접에 관한 유한요소해석 (Finite Element Analysis of Nd:YAG Pulse Laser Welding for AISI 304 Stainless Steel Plate)

  • Pulse laser welding of AISI 304 stainless steel plate was simulated to find optimal welding conditions by using commercial finite element code MARC. Due to geometric symmetry, a half model of AISI 304 stainless steel plate was considered and user subroutines were applied to boundary condition for the heat transfer. Material properties such as conductivity, specific heat, mass density and latent heat were given as a function of temperature. A moving heat source was designed on the basis of experimental data. As a result, Nd:YAG laser welding for AISI 304 stainless steel was successfully simulated and it should be useful to determine optimal welding condition.

  • Vision sensors using the optical triangulation have been widely used for automatic welding systems in various ways, but their reliability is seriously affected by presence of the arc noise. The reliability of vision sensors was analyzed with variation of the arc noise by considering the reflectance of the base metal. first, the properties of the base metal's reflection were modelled by using the Bidirectional Reflectance-Distribution Function(BRDF), and then the variation of the reflected arc intensity was formulated for various configurations of the torch, base metal, and sensor. The experimental data of the gray level of the reflected arc light were obtained for two materials, mild steel and stainless steel. It was found that the results calculated from the proposed model were in good agreement with the experimental data.

  • In order to confirm the possibility of application of laser welding process to 2.25Cr-1Mo steel, the characteristic of residual stress distribution in welds by SMAW and $CO_{2}$ Laser welding process have been investigated and compared using the numerical analysis. As the Result of the numerical analysis, the possibility of application of laser welding process has been found out in respect to the welding residual stress distribution and mechanical properties in welds.

  • Joining or welding of dissimilar metallic materials is very difficult problem because material properties like heat conductivity, melting points, coefficient of thermal expansion, etc. are different each other and cracks are occurred easily due to formation of intermetallic compounds. Nevertheless, deep attention from great industrial demands and trials to joining dissimilar materials has been increased steadily. In this study, TIG welding of Cu to Al is tried and tensile test, SEM and EDX analysis are carried out.

  • This study was investigated on the impact toughness and microstructure of welded metal and heat affected zone for Hi Nitrogen TiN Steel. With welding procedures, welding heat input applied were 30, 79 and 264 kJ/cm. TiN steel has shown very small prior austenite grain size for all the welding heat input applied, which was considered to result from the effect of TiN particles. In case of single SAW and EGW welding, the dilution rate of base metal into the weld was not high, resulting that there were no significant effects of base metal chemical composition on the mechanical properties of welds. However, TSAW with double Ypreparation carried very high dilution rate so that TiN steel has impaired the toughness of weld metal because N content in the weld was increased through the dilution of base metal.

  • Extruded and cast plates of AZ type magnesium alloys were successfully joined by friction stir welding (FSW). Effect of FSW conditions on the formation of the defect was revealed in relation to tool rotation speed and specimen travel speed. Magnesium alloy with higher aluminum content became difficult to be joined and the optimum condition without defect was restricted into narrow condition range. The structure of the stirred zone was a fine-grained recrystallized structure even in the case of cast AZ91D. FSW joint had better mechanical properties than those of GTA welded joint. Especially the toughness of the stirred zone increased more than that of the base metal.

  • Friction welding was used to weld the turbine wheel and shaft and have a good welding quality. Friction welding was conducted an the two dissimilar material, Nimonic 80A and SNCrW. The control of friction welding process parameter such as flywheel energy, interface temperature, amount of upset have an effect on the mechanical properties of the welded joint. FE simulation can be a useful tool to optimize the weld geometry and process parameters. Flash shape and thickness weld is consistent with the simulated results. Process analysis was performed by the commercial code DEFORM 2D. Mechanical property of weld joints was evaluated by microstructure, chemical component, tensile, impact, hardness test so on.

  • Surface friction welding, SFW, is a newly developed solid state welding technology for joining of thin metal sheets. Workpieces are joined by frictional heat, shear deformation and plastic flow generated by friction between the rotating tool and surface of the workpiece. The SFW is an economical and environmentally conscious technology with high joining speed and excellent properties, and is expected to be used widely in various industries in the near future.

  • A literature review was conducted to gather informations available on the welding metallurgy of aluminum alloys, emphasized on characteristics in the heat affected zone(HAZ). Nominal metallurgical reactions that occur in aluminum alloys provide a basis for understanding aluminum welding metallurgy. However, welding reactions differ to some extent because of the relatively short times involved, and the non-isothermal heating excursed. For non-heat treatable alloys, welding primarily affects these alloys by annealing (recrystallization and growth) and to a less extent, changes in low temperature precipitates. In the case of heat treatable alloys, the resulting HAZ properties depend upon alloy composition, starting temper, heat input and post weld heat treatments.

지르칼로이-4 피복관을 이용한 레이저용접성 연구 (A Study on the Laser Beam Weldability Using Zircaloy-4 Cladding Tube)

  • Corrosion and tensile properties of zircaloy-4 cladding tube having a laser welding part in elevated temperature are studied to present the criterion of quality evaluation in nuclear reactor and find the scientific basis of SCC, with laser welding method using by coupling up cladding tube to end cap. In the result of tensile test($400^{\circ}C$), the fracture is not happened in the welding part but base metal and the result of corrosion test($400^{\circ}C$ 1500psi steam), corrosion rate of the molten zone and PMZ is a little higher than the other zone.
