  • Feature models are widely used to model commonalities and variabilities among products during software product line development. Feature configurations are generated by selecting the features to be included in individual products. Automated tools to identify errors or inconsistencies in the feature models and configurations are essential to successful software product line engineering. This paper proposes a verification technique and tool based on semantic web technologies such as OWL, SWRL and Protege API. This approach checks the feature model and configuration based on predefined rules and provides information on existence of errors as well as the kinds of those errors. This approach is extensible due to ease of rule modification and may be easily applied to other environments because semantic web technologies can be easily integrated with other programming environments. This paper demonstrates how various semantic web-related technologies can support automatic verification of one kind of software development artifact, the feature model.

  • In this paper a web-based micro fabrication system is discussed. A commercial CAD and a web browser were used as its user interfaces. For the user interfaces, the concepts of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) were implemented providing the fabrication knowledge of micro machining to the designers. Simple databases were constructed to store the fabrication knowledge of materials, tools, and micro machining know-how. The part geometry was uploaded to the web server of this system as an STL (Stereo Lithography) format with process parameters for 3-axis micro milling. A Slice-based process planner automatically provides NC codes for controlling micro stages. A couple of micro parts were fabricated using the system with micro endmills. This design and manufacturing system enables network users to obtain micro-scale prototypes in a rapid manner.

  • Quantum chemistry has many concepts that are either abstract or counterintuitive, giving students difficulties in understanding them. Fortunately, the advancement of web technologies provides us with hordes of powerful tools to produce rich multimedia web applications that supplement traditional classroom teaching. In this paper we present an approach to address this issue that combines interactive simulations and visualization on the web browser using Shockwave technology. With several examples, we show how to take advantage of the features of the Shockwave technology in developing web-based course material with ease.

  • The technique and process for the acquisition of components by searching and testing the reusable components using Web Service in the CASE tools for component-based application development are proposed. The technique and process for the notice of components using Web Service in order to reuse developed components are also proposed. As using the technique and process, a repository does not need to construct and the reusability of components will rise because components are easily and efficiently searched using Web Service. Furthermore, it is easy to develop application through the plug-and-play of components which are acquired using Web Service, and errors of application by reused components will be minimized because proper components are acquired after pretesting reusable components in the analysis and the architecture phase.

  • In this paper, we are interested in how creator economy startups allowing creators to make money from doing that they love. So, we look at European creator economy startups among Web3.0 business model landscape surveyed in 2022, because the US is home of Web2.0 giant platforms like YouTube. Totally seventeen European startups are investigated, and the theoretical logic is the disruptive innovation. We firstly review the survey published in 2022 and utilize the theory of the disruptive innovation to design the research framework including questions with each type of the disruptive innovation. In this paper, we firstly show, Kalao and Gem as NFT ecosystem platforms aim at service convenience. Secondly, Talkbase, Passionfroot, Bildr, Customuse, and Earnr aim at providing creator tools for under-skilled customers. Lastly, when it comes direct monetization with a decentralized business model, CrowdPad, Admix, GOALS, Realm, Dropstar, Pianity, Sonomo, Stage11, Miiji, and ReadyPlayerMe are representative. Despite the relatively small data size, the results are meaningful as they contribute to a more profound comprehension of the Web3.0 business models and offer guidance for future research directions.

  • The purpose of this study is to show a case integration of web programming with database using Visual InterDev as a conceptual client and Web Server as server, Through this case study, we can see how easily dynamic web database programming used in Internet and Interanet can be developed in one integrated design environment such as Visual InterDev eliminating the inconvenience of developing database file and web page separately. Some literature survey and experimental practices were done to provide future developers with the principles and methodologies of developing web database programing using Visual InterDev with much less coding efforts and more convenient and easy way compared to other web developing tools.

  • This study examined the perception and use of web 2.0 applications for academic purposes by medical students of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. The objective was to investigate the medical students' perceptions of web 2.0 applications, web 2.0 tools use, extent of use, perception and purpose for using web 2.0 applications. Descriptive survey method was used for this study. The total population of this study was 3670 and the sample size was 367 representing 10% of the study. The purposive sampling technique was adopted, and the instrument used for this study was questionnaire, a total of 367 copies were administered and 321 were found useful for the study. Percentage means and standard deviation on table and chart were used to analyze the data collected using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. Findings showed that the perception of web 2.0 applications of medical students AAU was positive and few of web 2.0 applications were used for academic purposes. It was recommended in the study that medical students should be provided with the facilities in a format more familiar to them and used by most of them and institutions need to equip the learning process with the needed facilities which will be of utmost benefit even for future purposes.

  • Cloud services are often provisioned to their customers using user-friendly web browsers with flexible and rich plug-in environments. Delay is one of the fundamental performance metrics of these web-based services. Commonly-used network measurement tools usually only measure network delay and it may be difficult to infer the web-delay performance using only network layer measurement approaches. In this paper, we propose to evaluate the application layer delay in a browser-based network measurement platform using engineered scripts. We conducted a delay measurement study using instrumented scripts in the proposed browser-based measurement platform. Our investigation included a comparison study of three browser-scripting delay measurement methods, including Java applet, JSP and Flash ActionScript. We developed a browser-based delay measurement testbed over the Internet so that different delay measurement tools could be evaluated in the same real network environment including typical Internet paths and the Baidu cloud. We also decomposed the components of the end-to-end delay process of the above measurements to reveal the difference and relationship between the network-layer delay and the application-layer delay. Our measurement results characterize the stochastic properties of the application-layer delay over real Internet paths, and how these properties vary from the underlying network layer delay. This browser-scripting measurement approach can be easily deployed on different cloud service platforms to inspect their application-layer delay performance between end clients and the cloud platforms. Our measurement results may provide insights into designing new cloud services with enhanced quality-of-experience perceived by cloud users.

  • In recent years, the advent of information technology has transformed the way design is done and how companies manage information about their customers. The availability of large volume of data on customers, made possible by new information technology tools, has created opportunities as well as challenges for businesses to apply the data and gain competitive advantage. Under these conditions, eCRM solution through web data mining tools can provide the hidden information(need or preference) and we can understand customer better, while a systematic information management effort can channel the information into effective digital design contents strategies. Therefore, in this study, after reviewing web data mining and eCRM definition and developing a research program, guidelines for digital design contents are provided through the eCRM solution program we developed.

  • In recent years, a life phenomenon using a workflow management tool in bioinformatics has been actively researched. Workflow management tool is the base which enables researchers to collaborate through the re-use and sharing of service, and a variety of workflow management tools including MyGrid project's Taverna, Kepler and BioWMS have been developed and used as the open source. This workflow management tool can model and automate different services in spatially-distant area in one working space based on the web service technology. Many tools and databases used in the bioinformatics are provided in the web services form and are used in the workflow management tool. In such the situation, the web services development and stable service offering for a sequence similarity search which is basically used in the bioinformatics can be essential in the bioinformatics field. In this paper, the similarity retrieval speed of biology sequence data was improved based on a Linux cluster, and the sequence similarity retrieval could be done for a short time by linking with the workflow management tool through developing it in the web services.
