Digital Watermark Based Error Detection for MPEG-4 Bitstream Error

  • In this paper, a new approach is proposed for the error detection dedicated to MPEG-4 video coding by using the digital watermarking. In the process of encoding, the proposed scheme abstracts the macroblock features of headers, motion vectors, and Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) coefficients, which are embedded in the quantized DCT coefficients as the digital watermarks. The decoder performs the accurate error detection through the watermark extraction. Simulation results demonstrate that the error detection ability of the proposed approach can be significantly enhanced, and that digital watermark embedding incurs little degradation to the picture quality.

A Robust Watermarking Technique Using Affine Transform and Cross-Reference Points (어파인 변형과 교차참조점을 이용한 강인한 워터마킹 기법)

  • In general, Harris detector is commonly used for finding salient points in watermarking systems using feature points. Harris detector is a kind of combined comer and edge detector which is based on neighboring image data distribution, therefore it has some limitation to find accurate salient points after watermark embedding or any kinds of digital attacks. In this paper, we have used cross reference points which use not data distribution but geometrical structure of a normalized image in order to avoid pointing error caused by the distortion of image data. After normalization, we find cross reference points and take inverse normalization of these points. Next, we construct a group of triangles using tessellation with inversely normalized cross reference points. The watermarks are affine transformed and transformed-watermarks are embedded into not normalized image but original one. Only locations of watermarks are determined on the normalized image. Therefore, we can reduce data loss of watermark which is caused by inverse normalization. As a result, we can detect watermarks with high correlation after several digital attacks.

A Watermarking Technique Using Means and Differences of Neighboring Wavelet Transform Coefficient Pairs (이웃한 웨이브릿 변환 계수 쌍의 평균과 차이를 이용한 워터마킹 기법)

  • In this paper, an efficient watermarking technique in wavelet transform domain is proposed. Watermarking is embedding a digital signal called as 'watermark' into images to claim the ownership. In the proposed method, the image is 1-level wavelet transformed, and then the watermark with a binary stamp is embedded into the baseband. The watermark is embedded by inverting the polarities of he selected coefficient paris. In the inverting process, we can increase image quality by finding means and differences of the selected neighboring coefficient paris, and then adding values, which are inversely proportional to the differences, to th means. The experimental results show that the proposed method has good quality and is robust to various attacks such as the JPEG lossy comparison, noise addition, clipping, blurring, etc.

  • This paper proposes an new water mark embedding and extraction technique which extends the direct sequence spread spectrum technique. The proposed technique approximates the complexity of image and block in spatial domain using Laplacian filtering and watermark is adaptively embedded in the mid-frequency DCT components. Local parity bits are attached to higher-frequency DCT components and they are used to detect extraction errors and correct those errors. In extraction process the proposed method boosts the higher frequency components of image and extracts the watermark by demodulation and this information is verified and adjusted by parity bits. Experimental results show it is invisible and robust to several external attacks.

Wavelet-based Watermarking using Correlation Comparison (상관도 비교를 이용한 웨이블릿 기반 워터마킹)

  • This paper presents a wavelet-based digital watermarking scheme for color images. We insert watermarks in the DWI domain using spread-spectrum correlation-based watermarking in luminance component of the color image. The watermark, two pseudorandom patterns, is inserted by modifying the wavelet coefficients at subband HL2, LH2, HH2 according to message bits. To detect watermark, we calculate the correlation between the watermarked image and pseudorandom patterns. As compared with correlations, the watermark detector determines embedding message. Experimental results show that the scheme is not only invisible but also robust to various attacks such as JPEG compression, noise addition and so on.

  • In this paper, a novel algorithm for digital watermarking is proposed. We use two pattern keys from BCH (15, 7) code and one randomizing key. In the embedding process, optimal watermark coefficients are determined by statistical analysis of the DCT coefficients from the standpoint of HVS. In the detection, watermark coefficients are restored by correlation matching of the possible pattern keys and minimizing the estimation errors. Attacks tested in the experiments ate image enhancement and image compression (JPEG). Performance is evaluated by BER of the logo images and SNR/PSNR of the restored images. Our method has higher performance against JPEG attacks. Analysis for the performance is included.

  • The Data Matrix of two-dimensional bar codes is a new technology capable of holding relatively large amounts of data compared to the conventional one-dimensional bar code which is just a key that can access detailed information to the host computer database. A secret key is used to prevent a watermark from malicious attacks. We encoded copyright information into a Data Matrix bar code for encoding process and it was spread a pseudo random pattern using owner key. We embedded a randomized watermark into the image using watermark's embedding position, pattern generated with a secret key. The experimental results have shown that the proposed scheme has good quality and is very robust to various attacks, such as JPEG compression and noise. Also the performance of the proposed scheme is verified by comparing the copyright information with the information which is extracted from a bar code scantier.

  • In this paper we present a cryptanalysis of the generalized patchwork algorithm under the assumption that the attacker possesses only a single copy of the watermarked audio. In the scheme, watermark is inserted by modifying randomly chosen DCT values in each block of the original audio. Towards the attack we first fit low degree polynomials (which minimize the mean square error) on the data available from each block of the watermarked content. Then we replace the corresponding DCT data of the at-tacked audio by the available data from the polynomials to construct an attacked audio. The technique nullifies the modification achieved during watermark embedding. Experimental results show that recovery of the watermark becomes difficult after the attack.

  • Several studies have shown that the trust is a significant barrier for realizing the potential of e-commerce. Trust is not only a short-term issue but also the most significant long-term barrier for realizing the potentials of e-commerce. Because digital contents which have been used in e-commerce are easy to be duplicated, the enforcement of digital copyright protection is an important issue. Watermarking is a technique for labeling digital pictures by hiding secret information in the image. In this paper, a discrete wavelet transform(DWT) based technique for embedding digital watermark into image is proposed. The performance of the proposed watermarking is robust to a variety of signal distortions, such as JPEG and image processing operations.

A Novel Audio Watermarking Algorithm for Copyright Protection of Digital Audio

  • Digital watermark technology is now drawing attention as a new method of protecting digital content from unauthorized copying. This paper presents a novel audio watermarking algorithm to protect against unauthorized copying of digital audio. The proposed watermarking scheme includes a psychoacoustic model of MPEG audio coding to ensure that the watermarking does not affect the quality of the original sound. After embedding the watermark, our scheme extracts copyright information without access to the original signal by using a whitening procedure for linear prediction filtering before correlation. Experimental results show that our watermarking scheme is robust against common signal processing attacks and it introduces no audible distortion after watermark insertion.
