In this study, prepared synthesis waterborne acrylic resin and water soluble milk casein resin. And than extent of casein contents in acrylic resin. We measured property of these samples by Lamb leather which is coated by acrylic-casein resins. According to measure data for solvent resistance, WAR resin and Hybrid resins had good property. Among this result knew that increase of casein constant did not influence to big change of hybrid resin property. As test of tensile strength, WAR had lowest strength($1.399kg_f/mm^2$) and WAC-3 had highest strength($1.426kg_f/mm^2$). Also we knew that best property of abrasion was WAC-3(69.774 mg.loss). In elongation case, WAR had best property(820%) in this experiment.
This study was carried out to examine the subsitution possibility into water soluble amino resins instead of phenolic resin as a sizing material for the strength increase on the wet forming hardboard. The properties of hardboard, manufactured with amino-resins based urea, melamine, formaline, and methanol which were low priced domestic products, were examined in comparison with those of hardboard treated with phenolic resin. In this study by the results and discussions, it may be summarized as follows: 1. Amino-resins are able to be substituted for the phenolic resin as a good sizing material for strength increase in the manufacture of wet forming hardboard. Under the considerations of economic advantages and properties of hardboard, modified urea-melamine resin was given a best results. 2. The specific gravities of hardboard that were treated with phenolic resin was equal to that treated with modified amino type resin, and in case of urea-melamine resin, the specific gravity value were lowest among them. 3. The results of moisture contents were satisfied the standard which calls for 13 percent or below. There were no differences in moisture contents between hardboards, treated with melamine resin and modified urea-melamine resin but phenolic resin. The moisture contents of hardboard treated with phenolic resin was shown the lowest. 4. The water absorption of hardboard treated with phenolic resin was greater than those treated with amino resins, and to satisfy the standard of water resistance, the treatment of 2 percent paraffin wax emulsion was needed in this case. There were no differences in water absorptions between hardboards, treated with melamine resin and modified urea-melamine resin. To satisfy the standard of water resistance in this case the treatment of 1 percent paraffin wax emulsion was shown good results. 5. The differences among the flexural strength in using tested three adhesives were significant. The flexural strength were shown the signification by order of melamine resin, modified urea-melamine resin, and phenolic resin. In all cases to satisfy the standard of flexural strength, the treatment of 3 percent sizing materials for strength increase was needed.
Properties and glue shear strength of each water soluble rues-phenol copolymer adhesive and phenolic resin adhesive were examined as a high temperature curing binder through the manufacture of plywood made of Kapur veneer. The former has different molar ratio and the latter was made from different catalyst method. The results are summarized as follows: 1) Specific gravities of air dried plywood manufactured from each adhesive ranged from 0.67 to 0.82 and their moisture contents met the K.S. standard 2) In dry and wet shear strength, adhesives with 60 percent of non volatile content showed higher values than those with 50 percent except phenolic resin. Urea-phenol copolymer resin with 20 percent of phenol content exhibited the highest, and that with 70 percent the lowest. Filling effect of wood flour on the bonding strength is great in urea-phenol copolymer resin with more than 50 percent of phenol content, especially significant in 50 percent of non volatile content including alkali catalyst phenolic resin. Alkali and acid catalyst methods were the highest among the adhesive manufacture methods. In wet strength, urea resin belongs to the lowest group. 3) In glue shear strength after boiling and drying test, no method for manufacturing phenolic formaldehyde resin adhesive was stronger than alkali and acid catalyst methods. Phenolic resin made from alkali catalyst method needs a wood flour filler to improve the bonding quality. Urea-phenol copolymer resin with 10 percent of phenol content showed the reasonable water resistance.
Frankincense, the gum resin derived from Boswellia species, is complex mixtures composed of about $5{\sim}9%$ highly aromatic essential oil, $65{\sim}85%$ alcohol-soluble resins, and the remaining water-soluble gums. The anti-inflammatory properties of frankincense, alcohole-soluble resins, are well-recognized, but the question of whether aromatic essential oil also plays a role in the allergic asthma remains unanswered. This study was performed to evaluate anti-inflammatory effects of Boswellia sacra essential oil (BSEO) on ovalbumin (OVA)-induced asthma mouse model. BALB/c mice after intraperitoneal OVA sensitization were challenged with intratracheal OVA. One experimental group was inhaled with 0.3% BSEO for the later 8 weeks. BALB/c mice were sensitized and challenged with OVA and developed airway eosinophilia, mucus hypersecretion, and airway hyperresponsiveness. In contrast, the BSEO treated mice had reduced a number of eosinophils among BALF cells, goblet cell hyperplasia, and airway hyperresponsiveness. Cytokine analysis of BALF revealed that BSEO caused an increase in Th1 cytokine (interferon-$\gamma$ (IFN-$\gamma$)) and a decrease in Th2 cytokines (interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-5 and IL-13) levels. In addition, the OVA-specific serum IgE and eotaxin levels were also reduced. In mice inhaled BSEO, $CD4^+$, $CD3^+/CCR3^+$, and $B220^+/CD23^+$ mediastinal lymph nodes cells were also decreased. These results suggest that inhaled BSEO as a immunomodulator in Th1/Th2 mediated asthma may have therapeutic potential for the treatment in allergic airway inflammation by a simple, cost-effective way.

In the previous study. the powder casting was attempted as the rapid tooling. The powder casting was the process to cast dry powder into the casting mold transferred from R/P model and infiltrate the liquid binder to solidify the powder. And then, the melted copper was infiltrated to control the shrinkage rate of the final mold Conseqently, the shrinkage rate was under 0.1% through that process. The mechanical characteristic was also excellent. Generally, in the slurry casting, the alumina powder and the water soluble phenol were mainly used. However, the mechanical property of the phenol was not good enough to apply to molds directly. In this study, aluminium powder filled with epoxy is applicated to the slurry casting to solve these problems. The mechanical and thermal properties are better than phenol because the epoxy is the thermosetting resin. We achieved a successful result that the shrinkage rate is shortened about 0.047%. Futhermore, the manufacturing time and cost savings are significant. Finally, we assume that the developing possibility of this process is very optimistic.

As dies and molds have become more and more complicated in the recent years, the demand for lower cost and shorter production time is also growing stronger. Rapid prototyping and Tooling technologies are expected to be used for more rapid and lower cost tool fabrication. However the rapid tooling methods have not yet reached the level of application to the manufacturing of metallic dies and molds which require high dimensional accuracy. As the rapid tooling technology, there are the slurry casting, the powder casting, the direct laser sintering, and so on. Generally, in the slurry casting, the alumina powder and the water soluble phenol were mainly used. However, the mechanical properties of the phenol were not good enough to apply to molds directly. In this study, pure epoxy and two types of aluminium powder reinforced resin are applied to the slurry casting. The mechanical and thermal properties are better than phenol because the epoxy is the thermosetting resin. And mechanical characteristics such as shrinkage rate, hardness, surface roughness are measured for the sake of comparison. Metal powder reinforced resin molds are better than the resin tool form the viewpoint of shrinkage rate and hardness. Finally, it has been shown that the application possibility of this process is high, because the manufacturing time and cost savings are significant.
Peonjahwan, an oriental traditional medicine composed of crude herbal drugs and animal tissues is bitter and poorly water-soluble. To mask the bitterness of peonjahwan and enhance the release of bilirubin, one of the crude active ingredients of peonjahwan, peonja dry elixir (PDE), was prepared using a spray-dryer after extracting the crude materials in ethanol-water solution. coated peonja dry elixir (CPDE) was then prepared by coating the PDE with Eudragit acrylic resin. Panel assessed bitterness and release test of bilirubin from PDE and CPDE were carried out and compared with peonjahwan alone. PDE was found to have little effect upon the reduction of the bitterness of peonjahwan. However, the bitterness of CPDE was found to reduce to 1/4 of that of peonjahwan due to the encapsulation of crude active ingredients by the dextrin and Eudragit shell (P<0.05). The release rate of bilirubin from PDE and CPDE for 60 min increased about 3.5- and 2.5-fold, respectively, compared to peonjahwan at pH 1.2. It is concluded that CPDE, which masked the bitterness of peonjahwan and enhanced the release of bilirubin, is a preferable delivery system for peonjahwan.
The corrosion resistance of epoxy-coated carbon steel was evaluated. The carbon steel surface was subjected to different treatment methods such as steel grit blasting and power tool treatment as well as contamination of water soluble salt. To study the effect of the surface treatments and contamination, the topology of the treated surface was observed by confocal microscopy and a pull-off adhesion test was conducted. The corrosion resistance of the epoxy-coated carbon steel was further examined by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) combined with immersion test of 3.5 wt% of NaCl solution. Consequently, the surface contamination by sodium chloride with $16mg/m^2$, $48mg/m^2$ and $96mg/m^2$ didn't affect the adhesion strength for current epoxy coated carbon steel and blister and rust were not observed on the surface of epoxy coating contaminated by various concentration of sodium chloride after 20 weeks of immersion in 3.5 wt% NaCl aqueous solutions. In addition, the results of EIS test showed that the epoxy-coated carbon steel treated with steel grit blasting and power tool showed similar corrosion protection performance and surface cleanness such as Sa 3 and Sa 2.5 didn't affect the corrosion protectiveness of epoxy coated carbon steel.
In this study, selected cotton fabrics and polyester/cotton(P/C) blended fabrics are treated with a soluble polyurethane(SPU) and then, printed by heat transfer to determine the effect of SPU treatment on dye uptake of the samples. The results obtained are as follows: 1) In heat transfer, dye-uptake gets higher in Vopotion to temperature and time. The optimum printing temperature and printing time of C.I. Disperse Orange 3 and C.I. Disperse Violet 1 are $200^\circ{C}$ and 50sec. 2) Dye-uptake gets higher according to SPU concentration ; both cotton and P/C fabrics show the highest at $100g/\ell$. 3) In color, as temperature, time and SPU concentration increase, P/C fabrics show more yellowish orange color than cotton fabrics in case of C.I. Disperse Orange 3 and P/C fabrics show more reddish violet color than cotton fabrics in case of C.I. Disperse Violet 1. 4) All fastness of cotton and P/C fabrics treated with SPU are good, but color fastness to washing and water of cotton fabrics treated with SPU are not good.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the substitutional possibility of new extender instead of wheat flour, which is extending for plywood adhesives in Korea. As the extending materials corn stalk, pine bark, Pitch and Korean pine leaves, wheat, or wood flour were selected and prepared for the extending powders, dried at $103{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ during 24 hours in the drying oven, followed by being pulverized into 60-100 mesh powder. The extenders were mixed with urea formaldehyde resin in the ratio of 5, 10, 15 or 20%. After plywoods were manufactured by the above extended ratios, dry and wet shear strength and wood failures were analyzed and discussed. The results at the study may be summarized as follows ; 1. In urea formaldehyde resin dry shear strength in plywood extended by wheat flour showed the highest value. 2. Among the extenders in 10 and 20% extension of urea formaldehyde resin wet shear strength of wood flour was higher than that of wheat powder. They had no significant difference statistically. 3. Among the extenders of 5% extension of water soluble phenol formaldehyde resin dry shear strength of plywood extended by Korean pine leaf powder showed the highest value, while wheat powder showed the highest value among 10, 15 and 20% extentions. 4. In water soluble phenol formaldehyde resin the best results of wet shear strength showed in wheat powder. 5. Among the extenders in 15 and 20% extension of water soluble phenol formaldehyde resin, dry and wet shear strength in plywood of corn stalk powder were the highest value next to wheat powder.
