The grid-based KIneMatic wave STOrm Runoff Model(Kim, 1998; Kim, et al., 1998) which predicts temporal variation and spatial distribution of overland flow, subsurface flow and stream flow was evaluated at two watersheds. This model adopts the single overland flowpath algorithm and simulates surface and/or subsurface water depth at each cell by using water balance of hydrologic components. The model programmed by C-language uses ASCII-formatted map data supported by the irregular gridded map of the GRASS(Geographic Resources Analysis Support System) GIS and generates the spatial distribution maps of discharge, flow depth and soil moisture of the watershed.
The process of evaporation from free water surface was simulated in a large scale environmental chamber under various controlled atmospheric conditions and also was modelled by a new mass transfer model. Six evaporation tests were conducted with increasing wind speed and air temperature in the environmental chamber, and hence the effect of atmosphere parameters on the evaporation process and the corresponding response of water were investigated. Furthermore, based on the experiment results, seven general types of mass transfer models were evaluated firstly, and then a new model consisted of wind speed function and air relative humidity function was proposed and validated. The results show that the free water evaporation is mainly affected by the atmospheric parameters and the evaporation rate increases with the increasing air temperature and wind speed. Both the air and soil temperatures are affected by the energy transformation during water evaporation. The new model can satisfactorily describe the evaporation process from free water surface under different atmospheric conditions.

To effectively implement the integrated water management policy outlined in the National Water Management Act, it is essential to analyze agricultural water supply and demand at both basin and water district levels. Currently, agricultural water is primarily distributed through open canal systems and controlled by floodgates, yet the utilization-to-supply ratio remains at a mere 48%. In the case of agricultural water, when analyzing water balance through existing national basin water resource models (K-WEAP, K-MODISM), distortion of supply and regression occurs due to calculation of regression rate based on the concept of net water consumption. In addition, by simplifying the complex and diverse agricultural water supply system within the basin into a single virtual reservoir, it is difficult to analyze the surplus or shortage of agricultural water for each field within the basin. There are limitations in reflecting the characteristics and actual sites of rural water areas, such as inconsistencies with river and reservoir supply priority sites. This study focuses on the development of a model aimed at improving the deficiencies of current water balance analysis methods. The developed model aims to provide standardized water balance analysis nationwide, with initial application to the Anseo standard watershed. Utilizing data from 32 facilities within the standard watershed, the study conducted water balance analysis through watershed linkage, highlighting differences and improvements compared to existing methods.
In oder to predict the dispersion of a thermal discharge with strong turbulent and buoyant effects, the development of a numerical model using turbulence model and its application are significantly increased. In this study, a three-dimensional steady-state model for the surface discharge heated water into quiescent water body is developed. For the model closure of turbulent terms the four-equation turbulence model is used. For economic mumerical simulation, the elliptic governing equations are transformed to the partially parabolic equations. In general, the simulated results by the present model agree well with the experimental results by Pande and Rajratnam (1977). The model characteristics are presented in comparison with the predicted results from the two-eqauation turbulence model by McGuirk and Rodi (1979).
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of absorption coefficient models on the P1 radiation model for a premixed hydrogen flame containing the water vapor. A CFD combustion simulation analysis was performed using XiFoam, one of the open-source CFD solvers in OpenFOAM. The solver using the flamelet combustion model has been modified to implement radiative heat transfer. The absorption coefficient models used in this study the grey-mean model and constant model, and for comparison, case without radiation was added. This CFD simulation study consisted of benchmarking the THAI HD-15 and HD-22 experiments. The difference between the two tests is the inclusion of water vapor in the condition before ignition. In the case of the HD-22 experiment containing water vapor in the initial condition, the simulation results show that the grey-mean absorption coefficient model has a strong influence on the temperature decrease of the flame and on the change in pressure inside the vessel.
Water reservoir is defined as a storage space to hold and supply filtered water and it's significantly important to manage water level in the water reservoir so as to stabilize water supply by controlling water supply depending on demand. Liquid level sensors have been installed in the water reservoir and the pumps in the booster station facilitated management for optimum water level in the water reservoir. But the incident responses including sensor malfunction and communication breakdown actually count on manager's inspection, which involves risk of accidents. To stabilize draining facility management, this study has come up with AI model that predicts changes in the water level in the water reservoir. Going through simulation in the case of missing data in the water level to verify stability in relation to the field application of the prediction model for water level changes in the reservoir, the comparison of actual change value and predicted value allows to test utility of the model.

This study refers to the development of a hydrologic model simulating daily inflow and release rates for irrigation reservoirs. A daily - based model is needed for adequate operation of an irrigation reservoir sufficing the water demand for paddy fields which is closely related to meteorological conditions. And the objective or this study is to develop a Daily Irrigation Reservoir Operation Model(DIROM) combining the inflow and the release models which depicts the daily water level fluctuations of an irrigation reservoir, and to evaluate the applicability of the model. DIROM was applied to four reservoirs and daily water levels were simulated and compared to the observed data. The model behaviour was also compared with that of a ten - day based model, Reservoir Operation Study(ROS) which has been applied for determining the design capacity of reservoirs. Various combinations of measured and simulated inflow and release rates for tested reservoirs were used to define the daily water level fluctuations. Simulated release rates and measured inflow data resulted in larger errors, and simulated inflow and release rates produced the smallest errors in water level comparison. Two resevoir operation models, DIROM and ROS were applied to the same reservoir and the simulation results compared. The computational errors of DIROM ware smaller than those of ROS, and DIROM was more sensitive to meteorological conditions. DIROM demonstrated its potenial applicability in water management and operation.

In this study a conceptual soil water model is proposed to simulate water balance at catchment scale. The model is based on the sequential separation of daily precipitation into surface runoff, wetting, vaporization, and percolation. The proposed model is calibrated by using three observation sets: empirically estimated annual vaporization, monthly wetting estimated by NRCS-CN method, and both of them. The model performance is evaluated to understand which hydrologic components for calibrating the model are needed. It is shown that both of annual vaporization and monthly wetting are indispensable hydrologic components to simulate reasonably precipitation partitioning.

The purpose of this paper is to establish a method estimating the daily urban water demand using statistical analysis that is used for developing the efficient management and operation of the water supply facilities, and accurary of the model is verified by error rate and F-value. The data used in this study were the daily urban water use, the weather conditions such as temperature, precipitation, relative humidity, etc, and the day of The week. The case study was taken placed for the city of Namwon in Korea. The raw data used in this study were rearranged either by month or by season for analysis purpose, and the statistical analysis was applied to the data to obtain the regression model As a result of this study, the linear regression model was developed to estimate the daily urban water use with weather condition. The regression constant and coefficients of the model were determined for each month of a year. The accuracy of the model was within 3% of average error and within 11% of maximum error. The resulting model was found to he useful to the practical operation and management of the water supply facilities.
This paper presents the structural identification of an arch dam model for the damaged, repaired and strengthened conditions under different water levels. For this aim, an arch dam-reservoir-foundation model has been constructed. Ambient vibration tests have been performed on the damaged, repaired and strengthened dam models for the empty reservoir (0 cm), 10 cm, 20 cm, 30 cm, 40 cm, 50 cm and full reservoir (60 cm) water levels to illustrate the effects of water levels on the dynamics characteristics. Enhanced Frequency Domain Decomposition Method in the frequency domain has been used to extract the dynamic characteristics. The dynamic characteristics obtained from the damaged, repaired and strengthened dam models show that the natural frequencies and damping ratios are considerably affected from the varying water level. The maximum differences between the frequencies for the empty and full reservoir are obtained as 16%, 33%, and 25% for damaged, repaired and strengthened model respectively. Mode shapes obtained from the all models are not affected by the increasing water level. Also, after the repairing and strengthening implementations, the natural frequencies of the arch dam model increase significantly. After strengthening, between 46-92% and 43-62% recovery in the frequencies are calculated for empty and full reservoir respectively. Apparently, after strengthening implementation, the mode shapes obtained are more acceptable and distinctive compared to those for the damaged model.
