An investigation into the effects of lime-stabilization on soil-geosynthetic interface behavior

  • The use of lime stabilization and geosynthetic reinforcement is a common approach to improve the performance of fine-grained soils in geotechnical applications. However, the impact of this combination on the soil-geosynthetic interaction remains unclear. This study addresses this gap by evaluating the interface efficiency and soil-geosynthetic interaction parameters of lime-stabilized clay (2%, 4%, 6%, and 8% lime content) reinforced with geotextile or geogrid using direct shear tests at various curing times (1, 7, 14, and 28 days). Additionally, machine learning algorithms (Support Vector Machine and Artificial Neural Network) were employed to predict soil shear strength. Findings revealed that lime stabilization significantly increased soil shear strength and interaction parameters, particularly at the optimal lime content (4%). Notably, stabilization improved the performance of soil-geogrid interfaces but had an adverse effect on soil-geotextile interfaces. Furthermore, machine learning algorithms effectively predicted soil shear strength, with sensitivity analysis highlighting lime percentage and geosynthetic type as the most significant influencing factors.

과불화 알코올을 이용한 발수성 폴리우레탄 코팅 필름의 제조 (Preparation of Water Repellent Polyurethane Coating Films Using Perfluoroalkyl Alcohol)

  • 불소가 함유된 폴리우레탄 코팅 용액을 과불화 알코올, toluene diisocyanate와 polycarbonate diol을 출발물질로 사용하여 합성하였다. 이렇게 합성된 불소 함유 폴리우레탄 코팅 용액을 기재인 PC 위에 스핀 코팅 후 $120^{\circ}C$에서 열경화시켜 코팅 필름을 제조하였다. 제조된 코팅 필름의 물성을 FT-IR spectroscopy, UV-visible spectrometer, 접촉각 측정기와 연필경도 측정기를 사용하여 분석하였다. 과불화 알코올의 첨가는 코팅 필름의 발수성을 향상시켜, 물 접촉각을 $81^{\circ}C$에서 $111^{\circ}C$로 증가시켰다. 그러나 코팅 필름의 연필경도는 과불화 알코올의 첨가에도 불구하고 H로 일정하였다.

높은 혼합비율의 플라이 애쉬를 갖는 콘크리트의 침투성 특징에 관한 연구 (Permeability Properties of High Fly Ash Concrete)

  • 콘크리트의 침투성은 내구성과 밀접한 관계가 있고, 콘크리트의 내구성은 침투성 특성에 의해서 간접적으로 측정될 수 잇다. 실험 결과에 의하면 콘크리트의 침투성에서 플라이애쉬의 양이 증가할수록 (15%, 30%, 그리고45%) 침투성이 낮아졌으며, 기건양생한 콘크리트가 수중양생한 것에 비해서 월등히 높은 침투성을 보여 주었으나. 그 차이점은 플라이애쉬를 섞는 양이 많을수록 줄어 들었다. 높은 비율의 플라이애쉬(45%) 다양한 조강 시멘트를 섞어 만든 콘크리트에서도, 플라이애쉬 콘크리트가 보통(PCI)콘크리트보다 낮은 침투성을 보여주었다. 콘크리트는 양생기간이 길어짐에 따라 시멘트종류에 관계없이 침투성이 낮아졌으나, 기건양생시에는 증가하는 것을 보여주었다. 침투성 특징에서 모든 콘크리트는 물을 이용해 시험한 것이 기체를 이용해 시험한 것 보다 항상 낮은 값을 갖는다는 것이 발견되었다. 콘크리트의 침투성은 그것의 강도가 증가함으로써 줄어드는 것을 발견하였으나, 침투성의 특징은 주로 사용한 시멘트종류와 좀더 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

카르본산계 고성능감수제의 제조 및 그들의 시멘트 분산특성(III) (Preparation of High Range Water Reducers Containing Carboxylic Acid and Their Cement Dispersion Properties(III))

  • 화학조성이 다른 스티렌-무수말레인산 공중합체(1:1SMA, 5:1SMA)를 합성하고 이들을 황산화하여 수용성의 공중합체(1:1SSMA, 5:1SSMA)를 제조하였다. 이들 공중합체를 첨가한 시멘트 모르타르의 유동특성을 조사한 결과, 5:1SSMA는 1:1SSMA보다 우수한 플로우를 나타내었다. 또한 5:1SSMA를 1%첨가한 시멘트 모르타르는 60분 후에도 95% 이상의 플로우를 유지하였다. 한편 합성고분자를 0.5% 첨가한 경화시멘트 모르타르의 압축강도도 조사하였다. 그 결과 5:1SSMA를 첨가한 시험체의 28일 압축강도는 첨가하지 않은 시험체보다 41%증가한 반면 1:1SSMA는 29%의 증가를 나타내었다. 본 연구에서 제조한 5:1SSMA는 새로운 카르본산계 고성능감수제로서 그 활용이 크게 기대되어 진다.

3D 프린팅용 UV 경화 수지의 조사량 및 항온수조 침적에 따른 수축률의 차이 (Difference between shrinkage rate of irradiation amount of 3D printing UV curable resin and shrinkage rate according to a constant temperature water bath)

  • Purpose: This study is to compare and analyze the shrinkage of the specimen after UV irradiation of UV cured resin at 5, 15, and 30 minutes. Methods: A cylindrical UV cured specimen was produced using a stainless steel mold. UV cured resin specimens were prepared in three groups: 5 minutes cured (5M), 15 minutes cured (15M), and 30 minutes cured (30M). The measurement was made in total 3rd. The measurement was made in total 3rd. The primary measurement was made after 24 hours using a digital measuring instrument. The 2nd and 3rd measurements were deposited in a constant temperature water bath and the shrinkage was measured. The measured data was calculated by referring to the ASTM C326 linear measurement calculation method. T-test and One-way ANOVA were performed to test the significance between groups. The post-test was conducted with Tukey (α=0.05). Results: When the inner diameter and the outer diameter of the three groups not placed in the water bath were compared and analyzed, the contraction was the smallest at 6.8% in the 5M group, and the contraction was the largest at 7.3% in the 30M group. In the outer diameter, the contraction of the 5M group was the smallest at 3.5%, and the contraction of the 30M group was the largest at 4.5%. Shrinkage decreased in all three groups immersed in a water bath for 3-7 days. Conclusion: In the UV cured resin specimen, the shrinkage increased as the amount of UV irradiation increased.

알레르기 후기 반응 염증 억제효과에 관한 청기산(淸肌散)의 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Anti-inflammatory Effects of Cheonggisan Extract in Allergic Late Inflammation)

  • Objectives : Allergic diseases have a various symptoms of hyperresponsiveness and recently hyperresponsive reaction in the chronic phase is reported as the important mechanisms. Cheonggisan(CGS) is used in oriental clinics for curing various skin diseases due to effect of controlling of pruritus. There have been studies on the anti-allergic effect and anti-inflammatory effect of CGS, but there had no study of anti-allergic effects in allergic late inflammation of CGS, so we aimed to find out the effects of CGS in allergic late inflammation in our study.Methods : To investigate the anti-allergy effect and anti-inflammatory effect of CGS, RAW 264.7 macrophage cells and CSG water-extracts were used. Cytotoxic effect of CSG was examined by MTT assay, an oxidative product of NO was measured in the culture medium by the Griess reagent assay. The level of prostaglandin E2(PGE2) was measured by competitive enzyme-linked immunoassay. Cytokine(PGE2, IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α) was measured by Bio-Plex suspension assay system and quantitative multiplexed cytokine/chemokine assay.Results : We investigated that there was no cytotoxic effect of CGS water-extract at any levels of concentration on RAW 264.7 macrophage cells by MTT assay. CGS water-extracts significantly suppressed the levels of the inflammatory mediators such as NO and PGE2, cytokine of IL-1β, TNF-α at the level of 400 ㎍/㎖ CGS concentration. But there was no significant effect on IL-6 production suppression.Conclusions : These results suggest that CSG water-extract has and anti-inflammatory effects in allergic reaction. These properties may contribute to the allergic diseases and inflammatory related disease care.

Experimental and modelling study of clay stabilized with bottom ash-eco sand slurry pile

  • Clay soils are typical for their swelling properties upon absorption of water during rains and development of cracks during summer time owing to the profile desorption of water through the inter-connected soil pores by water vapour diffusion leading to evaporation. This type of unstable soil phenomenon by and large poses a serious threat to the strength and stability of structures when rest on such type of soils. Even as lime and cement are extensively used for stabilization of clay soils it has become imperative to find relatively cheaper alternative materials to bring out the desired properties within the clay soil domain. In the present era of catastrophic environmental degradation as a side effect to modernized manufacturing processes, industrialization and urbanization the creative idea would be treating the waste products in a beneficial way for reuse and recycling. Bottom ash and ecosand are construed as a waste product from cement industry. An optimal combination of bottom ash-eco sand can be thought of as a viable alternative to stabilize the clay soils by means of an effective dispersion dynamics associated with the inter connected network of pore spaces. A CATIA model was created and imported to ANSYS Fluent to study the dispersion dynamics. Ion migration from the bottom ash-ecosand pile was facilitated through natural formation of cracks in clay soil subjected to atmospheric conditions. Treated samples collected at different curing days from inner and outer zones at different depths were tested for, plasticity index, Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS), free swell index, water content, Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC), pH and ion concentration to show the effectiveness of the method in improving the clay soil.

폐기물 매립장의 차수재 및 복토재로서 하수 슬러지 재활용 (Reuse of Water Treatment Sludge as Liner and Cover Materials in Waste Landfills)

  • 현재, 하수 슬러지가 매립장에 주로 단순 매립되고 있는데, 이를 폐기물 매립장의 차수재 또는 복토재로 활용한다면 산업부산물의 재활용이라는 측면에서 큰 잇점이 있을 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 논문에서 하수 슬러지에 대한 다짐, 강도, 투수, 화학반응성 및 용출시험 등을 실시하여 매립장의 복토재 또는 차수재로서의 활용성을 검토하였다. 실험결과, 하수슬러지 혼합재는 벤토나이 트의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 최대건조밀도는 증가하고 최적함수비는 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 하수슬러지 혼합재의 강도는 벤토나이트의 첨가량이나 경과시간에 따라 증감효과가 크게 나타나지 않았다. 벤토나이트의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 그리고 시간이 경과함에 따라 투수계수는 감소하였으며 투수계수가 1x10-7cm/sec가 되기 위한 벤토나이트의 첨가량은 약 40%정도로 나타났으며. 이는 차수재로서 하수슬러지를 활용한다면 벤토나이트 첨가량을 40%이상을 요구하며, 반면 복토재로 활용한다면 벤토나이트 첨가량이 20%이내임을 알 수있다. 하수슬러지 혼합재의 침출수와 반응성에 의한 투수특성 변화는 미약한 것으로 나타났다.

화산력-시멘트 혼합 바이오 블록의 미생물 생장 특성 (Growth Characteristics of Microorganism on Lapilli-Cement mixed Bioblocks)

  • This research aims to utilize lapilli from the Mt. Baekdusan as environmently-friendly construction material. First of all, the neutralizing method for fabricating lapilli-cement-mixed bioblock was examined. And then, by use of the neuralized bioblock with microorganism for water purification, the growth inhibition effect against the pathogenic coliform bacillus was evaluated. The result regarding growth inhibition effect on pathogenic coliform bacillus indicates that the pretreatment condition, which is a concurrent procession with aqueous solution of 10% di-ammonium Phosphate after water curing, led to pH degraded below 10 which was the target value. Therefore it was concluded that the method was effective on bio-block neutralization. The microorganisms purifying water and di-ammonium phosphate were detected through the examination for microorganism existence on the bioblock, therefore it was concluded that the bioblock composed of lapilli and cement is able to be utilized in various structures as an environment friendly construction material.

해저터널 연약 구간 보강용 그라우트 내구성 평가 (Evaluation of grout for reinforcing soft section in subsea tunnel)

  • 고심도에 건설되는 해저터널은 지하수 등에 의해 높은 수압을 받는 환경에 노출되며, 고수압 해수에 의해 용탈현상이 촉진될 수 있다. 특히, 공사 중 지하수가 유입되기 쉽기 때문에 차수에 대한 많은 문제를 야기 할 수 있어 안정성을 확보하기 위해서는 시공환경에 적합한 그라우팅 장비 및 재료의 적용이 필수적이다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 해저터널 시공 시 적용할 수 있는 그라우팅 재료에 대한 물리적 특성(주입재료와 조건별 양생방법에 따라 강도특성, 용탈특성 등)을 평가하였다. 연구결과 CA계 및 CSA계에서 안정적인 강도증가를 발현하였으며, 내구성 저하가 발생되지 않아 해수 영향을 받는 구조물에서 안정적으로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
