  • Logistics centers, distribution centers, or warehouse facilities increasingly dominate urban and suburban landscapes, their enormous but blank, repetitive facades completely overshadowing adjacent buildings. Mostly ignored by architects, this new building type symbolically represents the arrival of post-anthropocene, or post-urbicene era of architecture, in which an increasing portion of our built environment will not be intended for human occupancy, but rather for use by machines and artificial intelligence. As a new wave of logistics centers are becoming more automated, and more supersized, it is important to deepen architects' understanding of the organizational logic and programming factors that inform the overall design decisions for these facilities. With a particular focus on three case studies--Coupang, E-Mart, and Amazon Fulfillment Centers, this research examines the current trends in automation and expansion of logistics centers, and offers an analysis and forecast for future facilities in South Korea.

  • The system development approach method of the new paradigm, as being standardizing MDA(Model Driven Architecture) in OMG(Object Management Group), the core technique of MDA definite technique structure for system materialization focusing on Model, is to build the design and the statement for system in PIM(Platform Independent Model), Materialization technique, and to build PSM(Platform Specific Model) adapt to materialization environment, and then to be the technique transforming into language Platform suitable to materialization environment. It includes MOF(Meta-Object Facility), UML, XMI(XML Metadata Interchange), CWM(Common Warehouse Metamodel), the core of MDA. Though these operations MDA support automatic tools product the practicable system after carrying out transform operation with the above information. In this thesis, it will be approached how to design and materialize the Bachelor management system based on MDA and the importance of modeling should be emphasized by applying to the approach method based on MDA. It should be suggested how to develop software efficiently, written it out in PIM, and suggested the process transforming PSM into EJB by J2EE Platform. The system is designed and implemented using automatic tool, edit machine(Together Architect 2006 for Eclipse, Edit plus2) supporting MDA and Database Modeling tool(ER/WIN 4.1). In conclusion, it should be suggested the efficiency analysis result for development process of traditional and based on MDA.

  • In the paper, we design a autonomous mobile robot for freight transportation and propose an operation method of the robot in the warehouse. In order to implement autonomous navigation, it is needed to recognize the position of the robot and track the path to the target. Previous methods are hard to change the workspace environment and need high cost to install and keep a maintenance of the system. The lifter of freight transportation robot is designed to load and unload a baggage through up and down motion. Also, ultrasonic sensor, RFID, QR-code and camera sensor is used to carry out various functions while the robot navigates in the various environment. We design an operation method of the mobile robot in order to effectively arrive a goal position and transport a freight. The proposed methods are verified through various experiments.

  • Preservation space is a functionally$\ulcorner$core$\lrcorner$in a museum. Gernerally, it is a common view that collections are exhibited within 5% of total stored collections. So that, part of collections are cycled exhibition space centering around preservation space, and that is a important mechanism of collections circulation in a museum. It is the best way that collections should be $\ulcorner$conserve$\lrcorner$ in a stable condition, but inevitably collections are exposed as stable condition, but inevitably collections are exposed as called $\ulcorner$exhibition$\lrcorner$. For that reason the function of $\ulcorner$exhibition$\lrcorner$. For that reason the function of $\ulcorner$exhibition$\lrcorner$for 'showing' and the function of $\ulcorner$preservation$\lrcorner$for 'conserve'are contrary to each other's concept, so it is principle of scheme that these concepts should be functionally connected with and planned$\ulcorner$match$\lrcorner$. In addition, various studies (for example, comparative analysis of collections, examination of collections for conserved condition or special exhibition, and classification of new item, etc.) are worked in preservation space. Therefore, preservation space should not be considered as a warehouse, should be composed not only$\ulcorner$comfortable place to rest of collections$\lrcorner$but also $\ulcorner$part of study room$\lrcorner$in a museum. So that, environment of museum should be established by plan to preservation and management. The point of plan to museum is that minimize dangerous element for collections, and then develop an essencial element of space for$\ulcorner$conservation$\lrcorner$and$\ulcorner$exhibition$\lrcorner$. The reason why with a few exceptions (buildings which have being exposed or extremely minor part of collections) most of collections have been lasting its life during over hundreds of years with adapting itself to natural features, so scheme of preservation facilities should be made up with understanding and analysis generic character of collections, and then establish proper temperature and humidity environment.

  • Silo is a warehouse for storing granular materials such as grain, cement, petroleum compound and coal. When compared to other warehouses, the silo can use space efficiently. The coal silo are consists of silo, tunnel and extractor. Of these, there are not sufficient study and design data on tunnel. It depends heavily upon trial and error method by field engineers with several years of experience. Recently, silos are constructed with a large size, and tunnel becomes to be in danger of severe cracking and collapse by a huge load of coal. So it is necessary to analyze structural safety for tunnel. In this study, the problems of the tunnel are analyzed by field data, and reinforcement of structural weak area using FE analysis has been carried out to design the tunnel satisfying structural safety. From FE Analysis, the reinforced model which does not exceed the yield strength of the material has been proposed.

  • In this study, in order to suggest the design method for supports in the room-and-pillar underground structure, the case study was carried out. In the case study, shape of rock pillar and room was mainly considered. From the analysis, a displacement at the roof, the maximum principle stress and plastic state were examined. To optimize variables in the case study, cases from the Seoul metro station were analyzed, then a target depth of the underground structure and ground conditions were determined. And the height of rock pillar and room were chosen from the assumed purpose of underground space, i.e. living/office and warehouse. Total cases of analysis was 180 cases including 3 types of ground condition, 5 types of rock pillar and 6 types of roof span. It is expected that results from analysis can be used to determine the installation of support in room-and-pillar underground structure with stability, utilization efficiency of underground space and applicability of vehicles.

  • Self-leveling material(SLM) is one of the floor finishing materials which make flat surface like as water level by itself in a short time. So it is possible to increase construction speed and enhance economical efficiency In this study, author intended to develop SLM for the industrial warehouse and factory loading heavy weight machinery and vehicles. The demanded properties for this type of SLM are above 200mm of flow value and above 300kgf/$cm^2$ of 28-days compressive strength. To possess demended strength and fluidity, SLM have to be composed of many types of binders and chemical additives. So it is difficult to decide suitable mixing proportion of composition materials. In this study, author investigated the weight percentage effect of main composition materials for high-strength self-leveling material, by experimental design such as tables of orthogonal arrays and simplex design, and by statistical analysis such as analysis of variance and analysis of response surface. Variables of experiments were ordinary Portland cement(OPC), alumina cement(AC), anhydrous gypsum(AG), lime stone(LS) and sand, and properties of tests were fluidity of fresh state and strength of hardened state. Results of this study are showed that suitable mix proportions of binders for the high strength self-leveling materials are two groups. One is 78~85.5% OPC, 7.5~9.5% AC, 9~12.5% AG and the other is 72.5~78% OPC, 9~12.5% AC, 13~15% AG.

  • Modeling and simulation of human-involved complex systems pose challenges to representing human decision makings into logical systems because of the nondeterministic and dynamic nature of human behaviors. In modeling perspectives, human's activities in systems can increase uncertainty and complexity, because he or she can potentially access all other resources within the system and change the system states. To address all of these human involvements in the system, this research suggests applying the Finite State Automata (FSA)-based formal modeling of human-involved systems that incorporates the ecological concept of affordances to an evacuation simulation, so that human behavioral patterns under urgent and dynamic emergency situations can be considered in the real-time simulation. The proposed simulation methodologies were interpreted using the warehouse fire evacuation simulation to clarify the applicability of the proposed methodology. This research is expected to merge system engineering technologies and human factors, and come out to the new predictive modeling methodology for disaster simulations. This research can be applied to a variety of applications such as building layout designs and building access control systems for emergency situations.

  • Purpose - Clarifying one of the biggest public Hospital Costs and incomes according to patients' case mix. It leads to prepare financial information about pubic medical tariffs and hospital operational costs. Research design, data, and methodology - This study calculates the costs both, with and without taking into account capital costs. This holds for comparison of hoteling based on case mix in all medical procedures. The checklists were reviewed and filled by reviewing accounting documents of the hospital, warehouse exclusion list, and daily books of laundry and CSR. Data was analyzed descriptively by using Excel. Results - In both cases, the hospital is losing in terms of hoteling. Because the buildings and equipment are new, this loss is not tangible. However, this will be revealed when costs of reconstruction and replacement of equipment. The loss rate per day of hospitalization was 569318 Rials for Coronary Care Unit (CCU), 528171 Rials for Post Intensive Care Unit (Post ICU), 474570 Rials for ICU, 233183 Rials for Post CCU and 204803 for Surgical ward. Conclusions - Income of hoteling was lower than its costs. ANOVA showed a strong relationship between case mix and hospital costs as well as case mix and its income. This suggests that optimal case mix can minimize the costs and maximize income.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate current packaging modules and design the most acceptable packaging module for domestic and international distribution systems. An optimum packaging module can reduce package costs as well as total distribution costs such as transport, materials handling and warehouse costs. Three different sizes of packaging modules, namely U-type($600{\times}500\;mm$), K -ype($550{\times}366\;mm$) and I-type($600{\times}400\;mm$), were evaluated in terms of the area efficiency and MOEs(measures of effectiveness) for the T-11($1100{\times}1100mm$) and T-12($1,200{\times}1,000\;mm$) pallets. The results showed that the U-type module could fit very well for both pallets and the area efficiency of each module was more than 99 percents. Area efficiency of K-and I-type modules was greatly affected by the pallet footprint dimensions. U-type module also performed better result from MOEs evaluation. Twenty sub-multiple sizes derived from the U-type module were suggested for the future development of the Korean and ISO standards on dimension of transport packages.
