Numerical study on the impingement process and the fuel film formation of the hollow-cone fuel spray was conducted under vaporization condition, and the effect of the wall cavity angle on spray-wall impingement structure was investigated. A detailed understanding of this phenomena will help in designing injection systems and controlling the strategies to improve engine performance and exhaust emissions of the Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine. The improved Abramzon model was used to model the spray vaporization process and the Gosman model was adopted for modeling of spray-wall impingement process. The calculated results of the spray-wall impingement process were compared with experimental results. The velocity field of the ambient gas, the Sauter Mean Diameter (SMD) and the generated fuel film on the wall, which are difficult to obtain by the experimental method, were also calculated and discussed. It was found that the radial distance after the wall impingement and the SMD decreased with increasing the cavity angle and the temperature.
Recently, the injection-molded products are lighter, and thinner than ever. In this work, Injection molding simulation was conducted to analysis the filling pattern imbalance in high speed injection molding process for thin-wall injection component, 8 inches LGP. Numerical analysis shows that shear heated polymer near the side wall causes filling imbalance between center and side of cavity. Short shot experiments were conducted and compared with simulation results. Filling imbalance ratio showed a tendency to increase for wider fan gate.

Small compression-ignition direct injection engines have been developed as a measure to improve a fuel efficiency and reduce harmful exhaust gases. Those small engines generally employ high injection pressure increase on the spray impacting on a wall is discussed in this paper. The gas phase is modelled by the Eulerian continuum conservation equations of mass momentum energy and fuel vapour fraction. The liquid phases is modelled following the discrete droplet model approach in Lagrangian form and the droplet wall interaction is modelled as a func-tion of the velocity normal to impaction lands. The droplet distributions vapor fractions and gas flows are analyzed in various injection pres-sure cases. The penetrations of wall spray and vapor increase and the Sauter mean diameter decreases with increasing injection pressure.
As the emission regulations on the automobiles have been increasingly stringent, precise control of air/fuel ration is one of the most important issues on the gasoline engines. Although many researches have been carried out to identify the fuel transport phenomena in the port fuel injection gasolines, mixture preparation in the cylinder has not been fully understood due to the complexity of fuel film behavior, In this paper, the mixture preparation during cold engine start is studied by using a Fast Response Flame ionization Detector.(FRFID) In order to estimate the transportation of injected fuel from the intake port into cylinder, the wall wetting fuel model was used. The two coefficient($\alpha$,$\beta$) of the wall-wetting fuel model was determined from the measured fuel mass that was inducted into the cylinder at the first cycle after injection cut-in. $\alpha$( ratio of directly inducted fuel mass into cylinder from injected fuel mass) and $\beta$ (ratio of indirectly inducted fuel mass into cylinder from wall wetted fuel film on the wall) was increased with increasing cooling water temperature. To reduce a air/fuel ratio fluctuation during cold engine start, the appropriate fuel injection rate was obtained from the wall wetting fuel model. Result of air/fuel ratio control, air/fuel excursion was reduced.
The objective of this paper is to investigate into the influence of the injection conditions on the insert deformation and the wall thickness of the injection part using the three-dimensional injection molding analysis. Full three-dimensional insert model was added to the injection molding analysis model to consider the effects of insert deformation during the injection molding process. In order to obtain the optimum injection molding condition with a minimum insert deformation, degree of experiments were utilized. From the results of the analyses, it was shown that the optimum injection condition is injection time of 1.6 sec, injection pressure of 30 MPa and packing time of 15 sec. In addition it was shown that the wall thickness is approached to target thickness when the core deformation is considered in the injection molding analysis.
In the present study, capability of improving the liquid atomization of a high-speed liquid jet by using wall impingement is explored, and its application to a jet engine atomize. is demonstrated. Water is injected from a thin nozzle. The liquid jet impinges on a wall positioned close to the nozzle exit, forming a liquid film. The liquid film velocity and the SMD were measured with PDA and LDSA, respectively. It was shown that the SMD of the droplets was determined by the liquid film velocity and impingement angle, regardless of the injection pressure or impingement wall diameter. When the liquid film velocity was smaller than 300m/s, a smaller SMD was obtained, compared with a simple free jet. This wall impingement technique was applied to a conventional air-blasting nozzle for jet engines. A real-size air-blasting burner was installed in a test rig in which three thin holes were made to accommodate liquid injection toward the intermediate ring, as an impingement wall. The air velocity was varied from 41 to 92m/s, and the liquid injection pressure was varied from 0.5 to 7.5 MPa. Combining wall impinging pressure atomization with gas-blasting produces remarkable improvement in atomization, which is contributed by the droplets produced in the pressure atomization mode. Comparison with the previous formulation for conventional gas-blasting atomization is also made, and the effectiveness of utilizing pressure atomization with wall impingement is shown.

In this work, the hydromagnetic and thermal characteristics of natural convection flow in a vertical parallel plate micro-porous-channel with suction/injection is analytically studied in the presence of Hall current by taking the temperature jump and the velocity slip at the wall into account. The governing equations, exhibiting the physics of the flow formation are displayed and the exact analytical solutions have been obtained for momentum and energy equations under relevant boundary conditions. The impact of distinct admissible parameters such as Hartmann number, Hall current parameter, permeability parameter, suction/injection parameter, fluid wall interaction parameter, Knudsen number and wall-ambient temperature ratio on the flow formation is discussed with the aid of line graphs. In particular, as rarefaction parameter on the micro-porous-channel surfaces increases, the fluid velocity increases and the volume flow rate decreases for injection/suction.
The sink mark on boss parts is generated by the volumetric shrinkage that is caused by both the molding thickness and the boss wall thickness. The volumetric shrinkage is caused by packing pressure and its amount tends to decrease by increasing the packing pressure. The packing pressure can therefore increase the flow rate to a boss part and causes the depth of sink mark to increase. As the molding thickness and the boss wall thickness in the boss part can increase the part volume, these may yield bad solidifying and also extend the molding cycle. In this paper, both the injection molding test and the flow analysis were carried out to investigate the effect of sink mark that was generated in the boss wall thickness of injection molded products. The sink mark could also be caused by thickness ratio of boss part. For a given thickness ratio of boss, several molding process parameters such as packing pressure, packing time and melt temperature, affecting to generation of the sink mark were discussed.

Ultrasound-guided injection is useful for managing thoracic spine and chest wall pain. With ultrasound, pain physicians perform the injection with real-time viewing of major structures, such as the pleura, vasculature, and nerves. Therefore, the ultrasound-guided injection procedure not only prevents procedure-related adverse events but also increases the accuracy of the procedure. Here, ultrasound-guided interventions that could be applied for thoracic spine and chest wall pain were described. We presented ultrasound-guided thoracic facet joint and costotransverse joint injections and thoracic paravertebral, intercostal nerve, erector spinae plane, and pectoralis and serratus plane blocks. The indication, anatomy, Sonoanatomy, and technique for each procedure were also described. We believe that our article is helpful for clinicians to conduct ultrasound-guided injections for controlling thoracic spine and chest wall pain precisely and safely.
