Effect of Wearing a Thermal Compression Sleeve on Isokinetic Strength and Muscle Activity of Wrist Flexors and Extensors

  • The purpose of this study, the wearing conditions of functional pressure clothing applied with the thermotherapy device were determined by three types (NW, CW, TCW) and the difference in isokinetic strength, muscle activity around the forearm was investigated and the effects of products mixed with thermotherapy and pressure treatment were verified. Ten men in their 20s were selected as subjects, and all subjects were randomly assigned three wearing conditions, and wrist flexion/extension exercise was performed at 30° and 90° angular velocity in isokinetic equipment. Peak torque, average power, and EMG were measured during exercise in all conditions. For peak torque, CW was significantly highest at velocity of 30°/sec flexion. Average power showed no significant difference by condition. In the angular velocity of 90°/sec, flexion was significantly higher in CW and TCW than in NW. As a result, wearing clothes with pressure effect and heat effect can show high efficiency in high muscle strength development and fast contraction activity during low speed exercise, and it is thought that it can show improvement of exercise ability through efficient recruitment of motor unit.

정상인에서 일상생활활동 수행시 상지의 가속도 분석 (Accelerometry of Upper Extremity During Activities of Daily Living in Healthy Adults)

  • 목적 : 본 연구는 정상 성인을 대상으로 일상생활활동 수행하는 동안 기존의 삼차원동작분석 장비와 가속도계에서 발생하는 변수를 동시에 측정하여, 기존의 삼차원동작분석 장비와 가속도계에서 측정된 값의 상관관계를 파악하고 가속도계의 활용 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 성인 20명(남자 10명, 여자 10명)을 대상으로 전화하기, 물 마시기, 세수하기, 숟가락 사용하기를 수행하는 동안 피트미터(Model Fitmeter, Fit.Life, Korea)와 CMS-70P(Zebris Medizintechnik Gmbh, Germany)를 사용하여, 손목 관절과 팔꿉 관절에서 단일벡터크기(Signal Vector Magnitude: SVM) 합과 관절가동범위를 측정하였다. 결과 : 전화하기, 물 마시기, 세수하기, 숟가락 사용하기 수행 시 손목과 팔꿈치에서 발생하는 관절가동범위와 단일벡터크기 합은 과제에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었다(p<.001; p<.001; p<.001; p<.001). 관절가동범위와 단일벡터크기 합은 손목에서는 유의한 상관관계를 보이지 않았으나(p>.05), 팔꿈치에서는 유의한 상관관계를 보였다(p<.01; p<.001; p<.01; p<.05). 손목과 팔꿈치에서 발생하는 단일벡터크기 합의 차이는 전화하기와 세수하기는 손목과 팔꿈치에서 유의한 차이를 보였으나(p<.001; p<.05), 물 마시기와 숟가락 사용하기는 손목과 팔꿈치에서 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다(p>.05; p>.05). 결론 : 가속도계는 일상생활활동의 역학적 변수를 측정할 때 유용하게 사용할 수 있을 것으로 생각되며, 손목보다는 팔꿈치에서 가속도계가 삼차원동작분석 장비의 기능을 대체할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

다중 생체 신호를 통한 손목 혈압 측정의 정확도 향상 (Improvement of the Accuracy of Wrist Noninvasive Blood Pressure Measurement Using Multiple Bio-signals)

  • The blood pressure measuring equipment, which is being supplied and used most widely by being recognized convenience and accuracy now generally, is oscillometric blood pressure monitor. However, a change in blood pressure is basically influenced by diverse elements such as each individual's physiological status and physical condition. Thus, the measurement of blood pressure, which used single element called oscillation in blood pressure of being conveyed to cuff, is not considered on physiological elements such as cardiovascular system status and blood vessel stiffness index, and on external elements, thereby being quite in error. Accordingly, this study detected diverse bio-signals and body informations in each individual as the measurement subject such as ECG, PPG, and Korotkoff Sound in order to enhance convenience and accuracy of measuring blood pressure in the complex measurement equipment, thereby having extracted regression method for compensation in error of oscillometric blood pressure measurement on the wrist, and having improved accuracy of measuring blood pressure. To verify a method of improving accuracy, the blood pressure value in each of SBP, DBP, MAP was acquired through 4-stage experimental procedure targeting totally 51 subjects. Prior to experiment, the subjects were divided into two groups such as the experimental group for extracting regression method and the control group for verifying regression method. Its error was analyzed by comparing the reference blood pressure value, which was obtained through the auscultatory method, and the oscillometric blood pressure value on the wrist. To reduce the detected error, the blood pressure compensation regression method was calculated through multiple linear regression analysis on elements of blood pressure, individual body information, PTT, HR, K-Sound PSD change. Verification was carried out on improving significance and accuracy by applying the regression method to the data of control group. In the experimental results, as a result of confirming error on the reference blood pressure value in SBP, DBP, and MAP, which were acquired through applying regression method, the results of $-0.47{\pm}7.45$ mmHg, $-0.23{\pm}7.13$ mmHg, $0.06{\pm}6.39$ mmHg could be obtained. This is not only the numerical value of satisfying the sphygmomanometer reference of AAMI, but also shows the lower result than the numerical value in SBP : $-2.5{\pm}12.2$ mmHg, DBP : $-7.5{\pm}8.4$ mmHg, which is the mean error in the experimental results of Brram's research for verifying accuracy of Omron RX-M, which shows relatively high accuracy among wrist sphygmomanometers. Thus, the blood pressure compensation could be confirmed to be made within significant level.

Hand Gesture Segmentation Method using a Wrist-Worn Wearable Device

  • Objective: We introduce a hand gesture segmentation method using a wrist-worn wearable device which can recognize simple gestures of clenching and unclenching ones' fist. Background: There are many types of smart watches and fitness bands in the markets. And most of them already adopt a gesture interaction to provide ease of use. However, there are many cases in which the malfunction is difficult to distinguish between the user's gesture commands and user's daily life motion. It is needed to develop a simple and clear gesture segmentation method to improve the gesture interaction performance. Method: At first, we defined the gestures of making a fist (start of gesture command) and opening one's fist (end of gesture command) as segmentation gestures to distinguish a gesture. The gestures of clenching and unclenching one's fist are simple and intuitive. And we also designed a single gesture consisting of a set of making a fist, a command gesture, and opening one's fist in order. To detect segmentation gestures at the bottom of the wrist, we used a wrist strap on which an array of infrared sensors (emitters and receivers) were mounted. When a user takes gestures of making a fist and opening one's a fist, this changes the shape of the bottom of the wrist, and simultaneously changes the reflected amount of the infrared light detected by the receiver sensor. Results: An experiment was conducted in order to evaluate gesture segmentation performance. 12 participants took part in the experiment: 10 males, and 2 females with an average age of 38. The recognition rates of the segmentation gestures, clenching and unclenching one's fist, are 99.58% and 100%, respectively. Conclusion: Through the experiment, we have evaluated gesture segmentation performance and its usability. The experimental results show a potential for our suggested segmentation method in the future. Application: The results of this study can be used to develop guidelines to prevent injury in auto workers at mission assembly plants.

소아청소년기 정상 교합 아동에서 경추골 및 수완부골 성숙도에 대한 하악골 성장의 연관성 (STATISTICAL CORRELATION ANALYSIS OF CVM, SMI AND MANDIBULAR LENGTH WITH NORMAL OCCLUSION IN GROWING CHILDREN)

  • 교정치료에는 치아를 움직이는 치열교정치료와 골격적인 이동을 도모하는 악정형 치료가 있다. 소아청소년기 아동에서 특히 악정형 치료를 위해서는 골 성숙도와 성장 잠재력의 평가가 매우 중요하다. 본 연구의 목적은 6~13세 정상 교합 아동을 대상으로 측모 두부 규격 방사선사진과 수완부골 방사선사진을 촬영하여 발달 단계를 평가하고 하악골 성장량을 비교한 것으로 다음과 같은 연구결과를 얻었다. SMI와 CVM은 유의한 상관관계를 나타냈다(p < 0.05). 수완부골 성숙도가 증가할수록 Ar-Go, Co-Go, N-Go, S-Gn, N-Me, Co-Gn, Go-Me, Go-Gn이 증가하였고, 경추골 성숙도가 증가할수록 Ar-Go, Co-Go, N-Go, S-Gn, N-Me, Co-Gn, Go-Me, Go-Gn이 증가하였다. 또한 Ar-Go, Co-Go, N-Go, S-Gn, N-Me, Co-Gn, Go-Me, Go-Gn은 경추 및 수완부골 성숙도와 각각 유의한 상관성을 보였다(p < 0.05). 이상의 결과로 하악골 성장은 경추 및 수완부골 성숙도와 유의한 상관성이 있음을 알게 되었다.

정상인의 완관절 신전, 굴곡, 악력(握力) 시 표면근전도 측정 연구 (A Study of Surface Electromyography Measurement of Wrist Exercise (Extension, Flexion, Grasping) in Healthy People)

  • Purpose : This study aimed to prove that surface electromyography(SEMG) can be used to identify the degree of symptoms of diseases in the upper extremities; it also aimed to confirm various potential therapeutic effects through an inquiry into the value measured by the SEMG on certain acupuncture points in the upper extremities. Methods : Fifty healthy people received instructions for the method of exercise: wrist flexion, extension and hand grasping. Disposable electrodes were attached to acupuncture points of Susamni($LI_{10}$), Naegwan($PC_6$), Oegwan($TE_5$) and below Sohae($HT_3$) two cun on both sides in flexion, extension and grasping to measure the SEMG values. The research results were analyzed using SPSS statistics Ver. 22.0(IBM, USA). Results : The average value was highest on Naegwan($PC_6$) in grasping, and the average SEMG value was higher in the order of grasping, extension and flexion. The asymmetry index of each point was Susamni($LI_{10}$) $16.26{\pm}13.59%$, Oegwan($TE_5$) $20.38{\pm}15.59%$, below Sohae($HT_3$) two cun $20.89{\pm}16.77%$, Naegwan($PC_6$) $22.49{\pm}14.91%$ in wrist extension, Susamni($LI_{10}$) $25.99{\pm}21.44%$, Oegwan($TE_5$) $21.15{\pm}15.94%$, below Sohae($HT_3$) two cun $19.62{\pm}15.46%$, Naegwan($PC_6$) $19.93{\pm}16.85%$ in wrist flexion, Susamni($LI_{10}$) $16.60{\pm}12.21%$, Oegwan($TE_5$) $10.94{\pm}8.29%$, below Sohae($HT_3$) two cun $15.20{\pm}12.60%$, Naegwan($PC_6$) $11.68{\pm}7.77%$ in grasping. Conclusions : In this study, to identify the degree of symptoms of diseases in the upper extremities and confirm therapeutic effects, it is necessary to analyze the calculated percentage and compare the SEMG measurement of special points with those of other points, and with the asymmetry index.

손과 손목의 통풍관절염에서 이중에너지 CT를 이용한 요산나트륨 결정 검출과 혈중 요산 농도와의 관계 (Detection of Monosodium Urate Crystal of Hand and Wrist in Suspected Gouty Arthritis Patients on Dual-Energy CT and Relationship with Serum Urate Level)

  • 목적 본 연구에서는 손과 손목의 이중에너지 CT (dual-energy CT)에서 요산나트륨(monosodium urate) 결정이 검출된 환자들은 그렇지 않은 환자들과 비교하여 어떤 특성을 가지는지 그리고 검출된 요산나트륨 결정은 어떤 양상으로 관찰되는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 대상과 방법 2015년 8월 1일부터 2020년 8월 31일까지 임상적으로 통풍이 의심되어 이중에너지 CT를 촬영한 93명의 환자를 대상으로 하였다. 이중에너지 CT에서 검출된 요산나트륨 결정의 부피 및 개수, 혈중 요산 농도와 그 최고치를 알아보았고, 요산나트륨 결정의 침착 양상을 분석하였다. 결과 이중에너지 CT에서 검출된 요산나트륨 결정의 부피는 0.01-16.11 cm3 (평균 1.07 cm3) 였다. 혈중 요산 농도의 평균값은 이중에너지 CT상 요산나트륨 결정이 발견된 환자군에서 유의미하게 높았다. 이중에너지 CT에서 요산나트륨 결정은 손목, 손가락, 수지건 순으로 많이 관찰되었다. 결론 이중에너지 CT에서 요산나트륨 결정은 손목 앞쪽에서 가장 흔하게 발견되었다.
