This study is a part of "Early Warning Service for Weather Risk Management in Climate-smart Agriculture", describes the delivery techniques from 840 catchment scale weather warning information using 150 counties unit special weather report(alarm, warning) released from KMA(Korea Meteorological Administration) and chronic weather warning information based on daily weather data from 76 synoptic stations. Catchment weather hazard warning service express a sequential risk index map generated by countries report occurs and report grade(alarm, warning) convert to catchment scale using zonal summarizing method. Additional services were chronic weather warning service at crop growth and accumulated more than 4 weeks, based on an unsuitable weather conditions, representing a relative risk compared to its catchment climatological normal conditions (normal distribution ) in addition to special weather report. Service provided by a real-time catchment scale map overlaid with VWORLD open platform operated by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Also provide a foundation for weather risk information to inform individual farmers to farm located within the catchment zone warning occur.
Sixteen holstein heifers were employed to study the effect of thermal stress on rectal temperature and mineral status of heifers around parturition during hot and cool weather. During the hot weather, rectal temperatures of the heifers measured at 08:30 and 15:30 h from 7 d prepartum to parturition were higher than those during the cool weather. Blood hematocrit and hemoglobin were not significantly different between the hot and cool weather, but at 2 and 1 wk prepartum, those during the hot weather were higher. Plasma Ca, inorganic P and Fe of the heifers during the hot weather were higher than those during the cool weather, but plasma Mg and Zn and serum alkaline phosphatase during the hot weather were lower. Colostral protein and Mg of heifers at parturition during the hot weather were lower than those during the cool weather, but colostral Ca, P, Fe and Zn were not affected by the weather.

Though the investigation of the suggested references proverbs related weather were collected and considered the probability of the usage on science instruction. The results are as follows. 130 proverbs related to weather were collected through the investigation of the suggested references. Most of weather proverbs are based on the states of sky, clouds, wind, precipitation, actions of animal, states of plants and the condition of people in daily life. they were classified according to weather types, natural phenomena and seasons. According to the results of analysing the students' recognition and interests on weather proverbs, most of students heard weather proverbs in their elementary school years firstly through their parents, books, and teachers. However they have only heard a few. Also many students also tend to think weather proverbs have a scientific base because weather proverbs have been told by many people through the ancient time and correspond to their personal experiences. Students responded that weather proverbs are useful for science learning on weather and can teach heritage and wisdom. After reading the suggested weather proverbs, their interests on weather proverbs were increased more than before reading. This is one of reasons why weather proverbs can be introduced to science classes. Weather proverbs were considered related to science curriculum. The third grade has a Unit "Fine days and Cloudy days", the fifth grade, "Unit of Weather Change", the Sixth grade, "Unit of Weather Forecast" , the Ninth grade, "Unit of Water cycle and Weather Change" and the tenth grade has "Unit of Earth". So the author consider that weather proverb materials can be used so effectively to bring about interest and motive in science learning.
PURPOSES : This study demonstrates the need for the collection of road weather information in order to perform efficient snow removal works during the winter season. Snow removal operations are usually dependent upon weather information obtained from the Automatic Weather Station provided by the Korea Meteorological Administration. However, there are some difference between road weather and weather forecasts in their scope. This is because general weather forecasts are focused on macroscopic standpoints rather than microscopic perspectives. METHODS : In this study, the relationship between snow removal works and historical weather forecasts are properly analyzed to prove the importance of road weather information. We collected both weather data and snow removal works during winter season at "A" regional offices in Gangwon areas. RESULTS : Results showed that the validation of weather forecasts for snow removal works were depended on the height difference between AWS location and its neighboring roadway. CONCLUSIONS : Namely, it appears that road weather information should be collected where AWS location and its neighboring roadway have relatively big difference in their heights.
Standard weather data available to greenhouse environmental design are limited in most regions of the country. So, instead of using standard weather data, in order to find the method to build design weather data for greenhouse heating and cooling, design outdoor weather conditions were analyzed and compared by TAC method and frequency analysis using climatological normal and thirty years from 1981 to 2010 hourly weather data provided by KMA and standard weather data provided by KSES. Average TAC values of outdoor temperature, relative humidity and insolation using thirty years hourly weather data showed a good agreement with them using standard weather data. Therefore, in regions which are not available standard weather data, we suggest that design outdoor weather conditions should be analyzed using thirty years hourly weather data. Average of TAC values derived from every year hourly weather data during the whole period can be established as environmental design standards, and also minimum and maximum of them can be used as reference data.
We have developed solar and space weather monitoring system for space weather users since 2007 as a project named 'Construction of Korea Space Weather Prediction Center'. In this presentation we will introduce space weather monitoring system for Geostationary Satellites and Polar Routes. These were developed for satisfying demands of space weather user groups. 'Space Weather Monitoring System for Geostationary Satellites' displays integrated space weather information on geostationary orbit such as magnetopause location, nowcast and forecast of space weather, cosmic ray count rate, number of meteors and x-ray solar flux. This system is developed for space weather customers who are managing satellite systems or using satellite information. In addition, this system provides space weather warning by SMS in which short message is delivered to users' cell phones when space weather parameters reach a critical value. 'Space Weather Monitoring System for Polar Routes' was developed for the commercial airline companies operating polar routes. This provides D-region and polar cap absorption map, aurora and radiation particle distribution, nowcast and forecast of space weather, proton flux, Kp index and so on.
Medium-range forecast is highly dependent on ensemble forecast data. However, operational weather forecasters have not enough time to digest all of detailed features revealed in ensemble forecast data. To utilize the ensemble data effectively in medium-range forecasting, representative weather patterns in East Asia in this study are defined. The k-means clustering analysis is applied for the objectivity of weather patterns. Input data used daily Mean Sea Level Pressure (MSLP) anomaly of the ECMWF ReAnalysis-Interim (ERA-Interim) during 1981~2010 (30 years) provided by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). Using the Explained Variance (EV), the optimal study area is defined by 20~60°N, 100~150°E. The number of clusters defined by Explained Cluster Variance (ECV) is thirty (k = 30). 30 representative weather patterns with their frequencies are summarized. Weather pattern #1 occurred all seasons, but it was about 56% in summer (June~September). The relatively rare occurrence of weather pattern (#30) occurred mainly in winter. Additionally, we investigate the relationship between weather patterns and extreme weather events such as heat wave, cold wave, and heavy rainfall as well as snowfall. The weather patterns associated with heavy rainfall exceeding 110 mm day-1 were #1, #4, and #9 with days (%) of more than 10%. Heavy snowfall events exceeding 24 cm day-1 mainly occurred in weather pattern #28 (4%) and #29 (6%). High and low temperature events (> 34℃ and < -14℃) were associated with weather pattern #1~4 (14~18%) and #28~29 (27~29%), respectively. These results suggest that the classification of various weather patterns will be used as a reference for grouping all ensemble forecast data, which will be useful for the scenario-based medium-range ensemble forecast in the future.

Weather is an influential factor to sales of companies. There have been growing attempts with which companies apply weather to developing their strategic marketing plans. By executing weather marketing activities, companies minimize risks (or negative impacts) of weather to their business and increase sales revenues. In spite of managerial importance of weather management, there are scarce empirical studies that comprehensively investigate its impact and present an efficient method that optimally allocates marketing budget. Our research was conducted in two parts. In the first part, we investigated influences of weather on sales based on real-world daily sales data. We specifically focused on the contextual factors that were less focused in the weather related research. In the second part, we propose an optimization model that can be utilized to efficiently allocate weather marketing budget across various regions (or branches) and show how it can be applied to real industry cases. The results of our study are as follow. Study 1 investigated the impact of weather on sales using store sales data of a family restaurant company and an outdoor fashion company. Results represented that the impacts of weather are context-dependent. The impact of weather on store sales varies across their regional and location characteristics when it rains. Based on the results derived from Study 1, Study 2 proposes a method on how optimally companies allocate their weather marketing budgets across each region.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the pain and the weather. One hundred ninety three patients treated for pain were recruited for this study. All subjects completed a 8-item weather and pain questionnaire to find out whether the pain are related to change in the weather, Of all subjects, 126 patients(65.3%) believed that change in the weather affected their pain. Of theses 126 patients, 85 patients(67.5%) reported that their pain was affected before weather changes, 44 patients(34.9%) stated that their pain was affected during weather changes. Damp/Rainy(n=91, 72.2%) and cold(n=60, 47.6%) conditions were mostly considered to have influence on pain. Of all subjects, 125 patients(64.8%) believed that change in the weather affected their mood. In the female group, a tendency to have pain or mood sensitivity to change in the weather was significantly higher than the male group(p=0.006, p=0.003) In the non-religious group, a tendency to have pain or mood sensitivity to change in the weather was significantly higher than the religious group(p=0.006, p=0.004). Of the pain sensitive group to change in the weather, 97 patients(77.0%) reported that they also have mood sensitivity to change in the weather(p=0.000). In the pain or mood sensitive group to change in the weather, their pain intensity(VAS) was significantly higher than the other group(p=0.000, p=0.021). The results of this survey give support to the idea that most patients with pain believe that weather has an important impact on their pain. Further investigations are needed to identify the mechanisms involved in the effects of weather changes on pain.
