In order to test the predictability of the wind resource assessment computer code in our country a field experiment and prediction by WAsP has been compared. A field experiment has been performed in Songdang province, Jeju island, composed of sea, inland flat terrain, a high and a low slope craters. For this experiment, four meteorological towers have been installed at seashores, inland flat and on a crater. Wind resource at one site is predicted by WAsF with the meteorological data at the other three sites. The comparisons show that the WAsP preditions give better agreement with experimental data by adjusting the roughness descriptions.
The comparative performance of the WAsP in calculating the wind climate in complex terrain has been examined in order to test the predictability of the wind resource assessment computer code in our country. An analysis was carried out of predicted and experimental 10-min averaged wind data collected over 8 months at four monitoring sites in SongDang province, Jeju island, composed of sea, inland flat terrain, a high and a low slope craters. The comparisons show that the WAsP preditions give better agreement with experimental data by adjusting the roughness descriptions, the obstacle list.

A new phaC gene cluster encoding polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) synthase I PHA depolymerase, and PHA synthase II was cloned using the touchdown PCR method, from medium-chain length (mcl-) PHA-producing strain Pseudomonas putida KT2440. The molecular structure of the cloned phaCl gene was analyzed, and the phylogenic relationship was compared with other phaCl genes cloned from Pseudomonas species. The cloned phaCl gene was expressed in a recombinant E. coli to the similar level of PHA synthase in the parent strain P. putida KT2440, but no significant amount of mcl-PHA was accumulated. The isolated phaCl gene was re-introduced into the parent strain P. putida KT2440 to amplify the PHA synthase I activity, and the recombinant P. purida accumulated mcl-PHA more effectively, increasing from 26.6 to $43.5\%$. The monomer compositions of 3-hydroxylalkanoates in mcl-PHA were also modified significantly in the recombinant P. putida enforcing the cloned phaCl gene.
The study was conducted to investigate the removal of heavy metals by using Hydroxyapatite(HAp) made from waste oyster shells and wastewater with high concentration of phosphorus. The maximum calcium concentration for the production of HAp in this study was released up to 361 mg/L at pH of 3 by elution experiments. When the pH was at adjusted 6, the maximum calcium released concentration was 41 mg/L. During the elution experiment, most of the calcium was released within 60 minutes. This reaction occurred at both pH levels of 3 and 6. The result of the XRD analysis for the HAp product used in this study shows the main constituent was HAp, as well as OCP. The pH was 8.6. As the temperature increased, the main constituent did not vary, however its structure was crystallized. When the pH was maintained at 3, the removal efficiency decreased as the heavy metal concentration increased. The order of removal efficiency was as follows: $Fe^{2+}$(92%), $Pb^{2+}$(92%) > $Cu^{2+}$(20%) > $Cd^{2+}$(0%). Most of these products were dissolved and did not produce sludge in the course of heavy metals removal. As the heavy metal concentration increased at pH of 6, the removal efficiency increased. The removal efficiencies in all heavy metals were over 80%. From the analysis of the sludge after reaction with heavy metals, the HAp was detected and the OCP peak was not observed. Moreover, lead ion was observed at the peaks of lead-Apatite and lead oxidant. In the case of cadmium, copper and iron ions, hydroxide forms of each ion were also detected.
Poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG)macromers terminated with acrylate groups and interpenetrating polymer networks(IPN) composed of poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate)(PHEMA) or poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate-co-hydropropyl methacrylate-co-N-vinyl pyrrolidone) [P(HEMA-co-HPMA-co-NVP)] and PEG macromer were synthesized with the aim of obtaining protein adsorption resisatnt soft contact lens. Polymerization of PEG macromer resulted in the formation of cross-linked gels due to the multifunctionality of macromer. Crosslinked P(HEMA) or P(HEMA-co-HPMA-co-NVP) chains were interpenetrated into the cross-linked three-dimensional networks of PEG. It was found that albumin adsorption onto the contact lens prepared by P(HWMA)/PEG IPN decreases with a decrease of molecular weight of PEG whereas its adsorption onto the contact lens prepared by P(HEMA-co-HPMA-co-NVP)/PEG IPN decreases with an increase of molecular weight of PEG. Also, it was found that albumin adsorption onto the both contact lens decreases with an increase of concentration of PEG macromer in the IPN preparation. There are also more adequate in the bioinertness and bioadhesion for the contact lens by P(HEMA)/PEG IPN or P(HEMA-co-HPMA-co-NVP)/PEG IPN than that by P(HEMA) or P(HEMA-co-HPMA-co-NVP).
Electroless Ni-P coatings are widely used in the chemical, mechanical, and electronic industries because of their excellent wear and abrasion resistance. In this study, the effect of $TiO_2$ particles of composite coating was investigated. To improve the corrosion resistance, electroless $Ni-P-TiO_2$composite coating was studied by varying the $TiO_2$ content. The morphology and phase structure of $Ni-P-TiO_2$ composite coatings were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffractometry(XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The result showed that $Ni-P-TiO_2$composite coating is composed of Ni, P, Ti and O. It exhibits an amorphous structure, high hardness and good corrosion resistance to the substrate. $Ni-P-TiO_2$ composite coatings have higher open circuit potential than that of the substrate, which obtained at $TiO_2$ content of 5.0 g/L optimal integrated properties.
In this study, lab-scale phosphorus coagulation/precipitation experiments were performed using three types of polyaluminum chloride (PAC) with different Al contents (10%, 12%, and 17%). The PO4-P removal efficiencies at various operating conditions, such as initial PO4-P concentration, initial pH, and Al/P molar ratio, were evaluated, and correlations among the operating factors affecting phosphorus coagulation/precipitation with PAC were derived to optimize the process efficiency. When the initial PO4-P concentration was 0.065 and 0.161 mmol P/L under an initial pH of 8-10, the optimal PAC dose was 0.126-0.378 and 0.189-0.667 mmol Al/L, respectively. Under these conditions, the Al/P molar ratio was 2.16-6.18 and 1.28-4.30, respectively, and the PO4-P removal efficiency was in the range of 40.2-92.5%. When the Al/P molar ratio was 2 or less under an initial pH condition of 6-8, the PO4-P removal efficiency was approximately ≤40% owing to insufficient Al3+ ions. However, when the Al/P molar ratio is 3-5, the PO4-P removal efficiency improved to approximately 80-90%. Thus, the optimal Al/P molar ratio to achieve a PO4-P removal efficiency of over 90% was determined to be approximately 4 in the PO4-P coagulation/precipitation process using PAC.
This study was designed to investigate the effect of a combined stimulus which was composed of chiropractic massage and thermotherapy on the relief of mental and physical stress. Fifteen healthy male subjects were treated with three type of stimuli; control (without any stimulus), a single stimulus (only chiropractic) and a combined stimulus. To evaluate the effects of stimuli, visual analogue scale (VAS), trunk extension, electromyogram (EMG) on erector spinae muscle and electrocardiogram (ECG) were measured and analyzed before and after stimuli. In the control group, there were no significant changes in EMG root mean square (RMS) value and low Frequency/high Frequency (LF/HF) ratio (p > 0.05, p > 0.05). However, both stimulus groups showed significant increases in trunk extension and EMG RMS values (p < 0.05, p < 0.05), but significant decreases in LF/HF ratios (p < 0.05). Particularly the decrement rate in LF/HF ratio was significantly higher in the combined stimulus group than that in the single stimulus group (p < 0.05). Also, a significantly lower VAS was recorded after combined stimulus. Our findings indicate that the combined stimulus might not only improve flexibility and strength of muscle, but also active parasympathetic nerve activity. The combined stimulus may thus contribute to relieve the stress and to enhance the muscle function.
