In recent, the crushed sand as a fine aggregate has increasingly used for concrete industry due to the shortage of natural sand from river and the growing demand for protection of natural environments. Aggregates may have a significant influence on the properties of self-compacting concrete (SCC) including self-compacting mortar (SCM). The rheological properties of SCC and SCM using crushed sand as a fine aggregate has been compared to that of SCC and SCM using natural sand and mixed sand of both. Test results indicate that the yield stress of SCM containing 50% of mixed sand present higher than those prepared with natural sand and crushed sand according to SP content. the slump values of SCC with natural sand have approximately 5-15% higher than those of SCC with crushed sand. Also the L-box test values ($H_2/H_1$) of SCC with natural sand have approximately 20-30 higher than those of SCC with crushed sand under same water/cement ratio and viscosity enhancing admixture.

This study made jelly by adding Sansuyu (Corni Fructus) puree and examined the types and contents of gelling agents as well as the physicochemical characteristics of jelly depending on heating time. Water content of Sansuyu puree was 89.39%, pH was 2.92, sugar content was $10.28^{\circ}Brix$, and total polyphenol content was 1,791.71 mg GAE/100 g. As the added amount of Sansuyu puree increased, pH decreased slightly from 3.04 to 2.97, and yield stress decreased greatly. As heating time increased, red color was unstable and changed to yellow. When heated more than 5 min, jelly was not formed. The level of preference for jelly consisting of 10% Sansuyu puree, 1.5% agar, and 1.0% carrageenan was the highest at 5.15. Using pulp of Sansuyu, it will be possible to make jelly consisting of various bioactive substances.
A series of two-dimensional (2D) finite element analyses have been performed to study the behaviour of single piles in consolidating ground. The analysis was conducted based on coupled analyses by considering changes of pore water pressure in the clay. In the analyses the soil slippage at the pile and the soil interface has been included. The method widely used in practice somewhat overestimates dragload by about 25% compared to the rigorous numerical analysis since partial mobilization of skin friction near neutral plane and reductions in the vertical soil stress is not incorporated. When soil slip develops at most of the pile length at the pile-soil interface during consolidation, further increases in dragload is not significant. Application of coating on the pile surface can reduce dragload and pile settlement substantially, but under an axial load on the pile head very large pile settlement can be developed unless pile tip is located to a stiff bearing layer.

The purpose of this study was to verify the shore margin protection effect of a root system developed from direct sticking of Salix gracilistyla Miq., focusing on the reinforcement of soil shear strength. The materials were 20cm long sticks whose average diameter and weight were 7.52mm and 14.58g respectively, and sandy loam(Sand 60.36%, Silt 28%, Clay 11.64%), whose maximum dry weight(${\gamma}$$_{dmax}$) was 1.59gf/㎤ at the water ratio( $W_{opt}$) 13.8%. The direct shearing test(KS F 2343) was applied to cylindric columms(diameter 132mm) of pure soil and two years old root reinforced soil. At each condition of vertical stress, 10N/$ extrm{cm}^2$, 14.41N/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 18.82 N/$\textrm{cm}^2$, five soil+root columns were sheared. After shear tests, the root area ratio and soil moisture on the shear plane were measured. The results of this research were as follows: 1. The average of root area ratio was 1.86% and the soil moisture 14.67%. 2. Two years old root system was found to increase the soil shear strength of pure soil in terms of Cohesion(C) and Inner friction Angle($\phi$) as follows. 3. The relationship between root area ratio and the increased shear strength can be presented with the following equation, $\Delta$S ≒ 0.33ㆍ TrㆍAs/A $\Delta$S : Increased Shear Strength Tr : Average Tension Strength of Root, Ar/A : Root Area Ratioioage Tension Strength of Root, Ar/A : Root Area Ratio
In this paper, characteristics of shear strength and deformation of geosynthetics-reinforced slag materials are described. In order to investigate the effect of geosynthetics on shear strength and deformation behavior of slags, when they are reinforced with geosynthetics or geomat such as PET mat, large triaxial tests were performed under consolidated-drained condition. The materials used in the study are real ones as they are in the field, so that the scale effect of samples disappeared. From the large triaxial tests, it was observed that the stress-strain relationship of geosynthetics-reinforced slags shows relatively small dilatancy and weak tendency of strain hardening, compared with that of slags without reinforcement. The shear strength parameters such as apparent cohesion and internal friction angle increase with PET mat reinforcement, consequently result in about 1.2 (for low confining pressure) to 1.4 (for high confining pressure) times of shear strength of un-reinforced sample. Therefore, the adoption of geomat-reinforced slag layers leads to an increase in the factor of safety for embankment design on soft soil formations.
The development of strain localization within shear zones is frequently observed during soil deformation. In fact, the phenomenon appears to be more often the norm rather than the exception. Conceptually, any soil condition that renders negative work increment is prone to localization. In this study, a broad range of soil and loading conditions are investigated to test this criterion, including: dilative soil subjected to drained shear (standard case), contractive soil sheared under undrained conditions, cavitation in dilative soil in undrained shear, inhomogeneous soils, particle alignment in contractive soils made of platy particles, soils that experience particle crushing, and the shear of low-moisture and/or lightly cemented loose soils. Unique specimens and test procedures are designed to separately test each of these soil conditions in the laboratory According to experimental test results, soil specimens with post-peak strain softening behavior are prone to progressive failure, localization of deformations, and shear banding. The state of stress, the soil density, inherent mechanical and geometrical properties of soil particles, low water content, and heterogeneity can contribute to triggering strain localization. Considering all possible cases of localization, the best method to obtain the critical state line in the laboratory is to use contractive homogeneous specimens subjected to drained shear.
In this study, the change in hydraulic conductivity according to the changes in the contact area, aperture, confining pressure and temperature was observed to improve the reliability of the analysis of underground water flow. Also, the mechanical and thermal properties of domestic crystalline rocks in a great depth were obtained. It was found that the averaged intial aperture ranged from 544.33${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ to 898.62${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and it followed a log-normal distribution. The hydraulic conductivity decreased with the increase of normal stress on the fracture surface and the hydraulic conductivity decreased as temperature increased. The change in hydraulic conductivity was strongly correlated with the change in contact area. It was verified by experiments that hydraulic conductivity was inversely proportional to the contact area. The measured mechanical and thermal properties were very close to the existing typical properties of domestic granites.
1. The rapid increasing elderly population represents a significant increase in the population with dementia. So, studies on the method for the prevention of dementia are necessary. 2. In oriental medicine, the causes of dementia are based on the deficiency of Jeong(精;essence of the body), the lack of bone marrow, and abnormal brain function. Emotional stress, bad habits of lifestyle including eating habits are also responsible for dementia. They causes dementia by blocking the circulation of Gi(氣) such as Suseunghwagang(水升火降;ascending kidney water and descending heart fire) and suppressing the function of Danjeon(丹田; the hypogastric center). 3. Gochi(叩齒) is a sort of mastication that facilitate salivation and secretion of parotin, next step is swallowing saliva. These supplement Jeong(精) of the five viscera and the six entrails(五臟六腑), promote Suseunghwagang(水升火降), and advance the function of the hypogastric center (丹田) and activate the brain. 4. So this paper draw a conclusion that Gochi(叩齒) is negatively related to the causes of dementia and it will be useful in preventing dementia.

A 8-week trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of photoperiod manipulation on the growth performance and hematological parameters of juvenile Caspian roach, Rutilus rutilus caspicus (average weight $1.46{\pm}0.12g$ mean${\pm}$SD) reared under five photoperiods (24 h Light, 24L; 18 h Light & 6 h Dark, 18L:6D; 12 h Light & 12 h Dark, 12L:12D; 6 h Light & 18 h Dark, 6L:18D; 24 h Dark, 24D) with constant light intensity 1,500 lx on the water surface. Triplicate of 20 fish were allocated into each of 15 fiberglass tanks of 50 L capacity and they were fed three times per day with the commercial feed (SFK, Co., Sari - Iran) contains 50.0% protein and 10.5% lipid. At the end of experimental period, final body weight, weight gain and specific growth rates of fish exposed to 24L were significantly higher than those of fish exposed to 12L:12D, 6L:18D and 24D (P < 0.05). Red blood cell and hemoglobin of fish exposed to 24L were significantly higher than those of fish exposed to 24D. No significant difference observed in hematocrit, white blood cell and plasma glucose among the different treatments groups. Therefore, these results demonstrated that the growth performance of juvenile Caspian roach can be significantly stimulated by using 24L and 18L:6D photoperiods without any measurable significant stress response such as plasma glucose concentration.
The mud shrimp Upogebia major (Upogebiidae: Decapoda: Crustacea) is a common species on muddy and sandy mud tidal flats in the west coast of Korea. They reside in Y-shaped burrows that can extend up to more than 2 meters below the sediment surface. They feed on suspended detritus carried into their burrow by the beating of their pleopods and captured by their hairy first two pairs of thoracic legs. Mud shrimp burrows provide a habitat for a variety of small organisms such as crabs, shrimps, polychaetes, and mollusks. Ovigerous females are observed from December to May. Females deposit eggs only once per breeding season. They start hatching in March and the pelagic larvae of first zoea appear in March and April, followed by benthic settlement in May. Growth over the first year is rapid, and females deposit their first eggs in the third breeding season, 31 months after their settlement. Adult shrimps live for 4~5 years. Depth of the burrow increases with body length. The deep burrows provide refuge from predators and physical stress, allowing the shrimps to survive for a long time. The mud shrimps supply oxygen-rich water to their deep burrows, and exert a great influence on the structure and metabolism of the tidal flat benthic community. However, recently this type of mud shrimp has posed a serious threat to the Korean clam industry along the west coast of Korea. The extensive burrowing shrimp populations suddenly invaded the tidal flats from 2010 where the clams (Ruditapes philippinarum) are raised. As a consequence, clam production has decreased by about 10% over the past three years in some Korean clam beds. Therefore, the objective of this study is to review the biology of this mud shrimp in order to seek solutions to control the burrowing of these shrimps.
