This paper presents DC voltage recovery time improvement method in DC link of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) with offshore wind farm. The wind farm should be satisfied Low Voltage Ride Through(LVRT) control strategy when grid faults occur. The LVRT control strategy indicates actions which have to be executed according to the voltage dip ratio and the fault duration. However, The LVRT control strategy makes between wind farm and power system through DC Link voltage when grid fault occurs. The de-loading scheme is one of the method to control the DC voltage. But de-loading scheme need to long DC voltage recovery time. Thus, this paper proposes an improved de-loading scheme and we analysis DC voltage and active power reference through a simulation.
In order to solve the neutral-point voltage fluctuation problem of three-phase three-level T-type inverters (TPTLTIs), the unbalance characteristics of capacitor voltages under different switching states and the mechanism of neutral-point voltage fluctuation are revealed. Based on the mathematical model of a TPTLTI, a feed-forward voltage balancing control strategy of DC-link capacitor voltages error is proposed. The strategy generates a DC bias voltage using a capacitor voltage loop with a proportional integral (PI) controller. The proposed strategy can suppress the neutral-point voltage fluctuation effectively and improve the quality of output currents. The correctness of the theoretical analysis is verified through simulations. An experimental prototype of a TPTLTI based on Digital Signal Processor (DSP) is built. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified through experiment. The results from simulations and experiment match very well.

In this paper, a new control strategy to reduce switching losses in three-phase voltage-source PWM converters is proposed according to Modified-Period-Average-Model (MPAN). The basic concept of this strategy is aimed at calculating the phase control voltages for controlling the source currents to be sinusoidal and in phase with the source voltages, and reducing the number of switching in each period. The phase control voltages of Period-Average-Model(PAM) is obtained according to analyzing the operation of PWM converter. In order to reduce the sensitivity to system parameters in PAM, MPAM is deduced. Then a square wave whose frequency is three times of utility frequency is added to the phase control voltages derived from MPAM. The control strategy reduces the switching losses since there exists about one-third blanking time for every phase in one period. The theoretical derivation and the control strategy are experimentally verified on a 2.5 kW three-phase voltage source converter.

This paper presents a framework for determining control strategies against unwanted tripping actions during relay operation that plays a very important role in cascading events leading to voltage collapse. The framework includes an algorithm for quick identification of possible zone 3 relay operation during voltage instability. Furthermore, it comes up with the control strategy of load shedding at the selected location with active power and relay margin criteria. In addition, Quasi Steady-State (QSS) simulation is employed to obtain time-related information that is valuable in the determination of control strategy. As a case study, an example applying the framework is shown with the modified New England 39-bus system.
In recent years, voltage source multilevel converters are very popular in medium/high-voltage industrial applications, among which the NPC/H-Bridge converter is a popular solution to the medium/high-voltage drive systems. The conventional finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) strategy is not practical for multilevel converters due to their substantial calculation requirements, especially under high number of voltage levels. To solve this problem, a hierarchical model predictive voltage control (HMPVC) strategy with referring to the implementation of g-h coordinate space vector modulation (SVM) is proposed. By the hierarchical structure of different cost functions, load currents can be controlled well and common mode voltage can be maintained at low values. The proposed strategy could be easily expanded to the systems with high number of voltage levels while the amount of required calculation is significantly reduced and the advantages of the conventional FCS-MPC strategy are reserved. In addition, a HMPVC-based field oriented control scheme is applied to a drive system with the NPC/H-Bridge converter. Both steady-state and transient performances are evaluated by simulations and experiments with a down-scaled NPC/H-Bridge converter prototype under various conditions, which validate the proposed HMPVC strategy.
This paper proposes an on-line voltage management and control solution for a distribution system which can improve the efficiency and accuracy of existing off-line work by collecting customer voltage on-line as well as the voltage compensation capability of the existing ULTC (Under Load Tap Changer) operation and control strategy by controlling the ULTC tap based on pattern clustering and recognition. The proposed solution consists of an ADVMD (Advanced Digital Voltage Management Device), a VMS (Voltage Management Solution) and an OLDUC (On-Line Digital ULTC Controller). An on-line voltage management emulator based on multi-thread programming and the shared memory method is developed to emulate on-line voltage management and digital ULTC control methodology based on the on-line collection of the customer's voltage. In addition, using this emulator, the effectiveness of the proposed pattern clustering and recognition based ULTC control strategy is proven for the worst voltage environments for three days.
In this paper, voltage control strategy for maximum torque operation of stator flux-oriented induction machine drive in the field-weakening region is proposed. In a conventional stator flux-oriented (SFO) induction machine drive system of the maximum torque capability cannot be obtained. The field-weakening method is used to vary the stator-flux reference in proportion to the inverse of the rotor speed. The proposed algorithm, based on the voltage control strategy, ensures the maximum torque operation over the field-weakening region. The proposed algorithm, voltage control strategy for maximum torque operation of capability, which is insensitive to the variation of machine parameters In the field-weakening region. The proposed algorithm is verified by simulation.
This paper presents a current control strategy in the synchronous reference frame for a single-phase PWM converter, which ensures sinusoidal input current control under the distorted source voltage and frequency condition. Given that the distorted source voltage distorts the phase angle for PWM converter control, the input current contains the same harmonics as the source voltage. Aside from the distorted voltage, the variation in source frequency reduces the performance of input current control. To achieve sinusoidal input current control under the distorted source voltage and frequency condition, this paper proposes a compensation strategy of current reference with the distortion component extracted from the phase angle and a detection strategy of frequency variation from the output of a synchronous reference frame phase-lock loop. The experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed method under the distorted source voltage and frequency condition.

For stable integration of large-scale wind farms, integration standards (Grid codes) have been proposed by the system operator. In particular, voltage control of large-scale wind farms is gradually becoming important because of the increasing size of individual wind farms. Among the various voltage control methods, Secondary Voltage Control (SVC) is a method that can control the reactive power reserve of a control area uniformly. This paper proposes hybrid SVC when a large-scale wind farm is integrated into the power grid. Using SVC, the burden of a wind turbine converter for generating reactive power can be reduced. To prove the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, a simulation study is carried out for the Jeju system. The proposed strategy can improve the voltage conditions and reactive power reserve with this hybrid SVC.
Z-source inverters (ZSI) are used to realize both DC voltage boost and DC-AC inversion in single stage with a reduced number of power switching devices. A traditional MPPT control algorithm provides a shoot-through interval which should be inserted in the switching waveforms of the inverter to output the maximum power to the Z-network. At this instant, the voltage across the Z-source capacitor is equal to the output voltage of a PV array at the maximum power point (MPP). The control of the Z-source capacitor voltage beyond the MPP voltage of a PV array is not facilitated in traditional MPPT algorithms. This paper presents a unified MPPT control algorithm to simultaneously achieve MPPT as well as Z-source capacitor voltage control. Development and implementation of the proposed algorithm and a comparison with traditional results are discussed. The effectiveness of the proposed unified MPPT control strategy is implemented in Matlab/Simulink software and verified by experimental results.
