  • Speech language pathologists depend on their voice for livelihood and are high risk group of voice disorders. But there are few studies on their prevalence of voice symptoms and voice handicap index. This study aimed to evaluate prevalence of voice symptoms and Korean voice handicap index with 86 speech language pathologists and 90 individuals employed in other occupations. We analyzed self-reported voice symptoms and voice handicap index using a questionnaire for this study. The results showed that the prevalence of voice symptoms of speech language pathologists is 60.5% and voice handicap index scores of speech language pathologists group are significantly higher than those of control group in physical and total score. And we found that alcohol history was a risk factor for voice symptoms. These findings indicate that special vocal hygiene program for speech language pathologists and follow up studies for comparisons of prevalence of voice symptoms and voice handicap index with other professional voice users are necessary.

  • In this paper we studied English listening and speaking test part of foreign language using web and VoiceXML-based education testing system, which is irrespective of time and space. The testing system interface based on VoiceXML consists of user registration module, testing module, and testing result module. User registration module registers user's name and ID, password in user database, and when a tester calls for testing, the User listens to the telephone sound supported by vxml scenario. After that, if a tester logs in, the tester is verified, In the VoiceXML-based education testing system, the manager can reduce time and effort for gaining testing result. The tester listens to the voice by scenario supported by VoiceXML markup language using wire/wireless telephone at any time or anywhere and can improve the effect of foreign language studying by valuating in voice directly. verified. • The best method to study language is to talking with a native speaker. A voice recognition technology can be used to develope a language study machine. SD(Speaker dependant) and SI(speaker independant) voice recognition method is used for the language study machine. MP3 Player. FM Radio. Alarm clock functions are added to enhance the value of the product. The machine is designed with a DSP(Digital Signal Processing) chip for voice recognition. MP3 encoder/decoder chip. FM tumer and SD flash memory card. This paper deals with the application of SD ad SD voice recognition. flash memory file system. PC download function using USB ports, English conversation text function by the use of SD flash memory. LCD display control. MP3 encoding and decoding, etc. The study contents are saved in SD flash memory. This machine can be helpful from child to adult by changing the SD flash memory.

  • This article addresses the roles of the speech language pathologist (SLP) for singers who require prompt and effective treatment when a voice problem arises. The causes of voice problem are often vocal abuse/misuse/overuse, muscle tension dysphonia and inappropriate singing technique. The SLP should conduct voice counseling and voice assessment for maintaining healthy voice of singer constantly.

  • This study introduces an innovative model for zero-shot voice conversion that utilizes the capabilities of HuBERT. Zero-shot voice conversion models can transform the speech of one speaker to mimic that of another, even when the model has not been exposed to the target speaker's voice during the training phase. Comprising five main components (HuBERT, feature encoder, flow, speaker encoder, and vocoder), the model offers remarkable performance across a range of scenarios. Notably, it excels in the challenging unseen-to-unseen voice-conversion tasks. The effectiveness of the model was assessed based on the mean opinion scores and similarity scores, reflecting high voice quality and similarity to the target speakers. This model demonstrates considerable promise for a range of real-world applications demanding high-quality voice conversion. This study sets a precedent in the exploration of HuBERT-based models for voice conversion, and presents new directions for future research in this domain. Despite its complexities, the robust performance of this model underscores the viability of HuBERT in advancing voice conversion technology, making it a significant contributor to the field.

  • VoiceXML is a standard dialog mark-up language for the neat generation voice applications. The current VoiceXML 1.0 specification is silent on who place outbound calls for push-based voice applications. The push-barred voice applications become very important in modern information systems such as CRM. In this paper, we design and implement an extended VoiceXML platform that supports both inbound and outbound voice information services. We also extend the VoiceXML DTD so as to be able to inbound/outbound fax based on Call Control Requirements of W3C.

  • Recently, Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) received widely held attention from diverse audiences. However, to the author's knowledge, relatively little attention was paid to the educational implications of voice recognition (VR) softwares in language teaching in general, and teaching and learning pronunciation in particular. This study explores, and extends the applicability of VR softwares toward second language research areas addressing how VR softwares might facilitate interview data entering processes. To aid the readers' understanding in this field, the background of classroom interaction research, and the rationale of why interview data, therefore the role of VR softwares, becomes critical in this realm of inquiry will be discussed. VR softwares' development and a brief report on the features of up-to-date VR softwares will be sketched. Finally, suggestions for future studies investigating the impact of VR softwares on second language learning, teaching, and research will be offered.

  • The purpose of this paper is to find prosodic characteristics in voice imitation. Speakers change various phonetic features in voice imitation. Speakers change their pitch ranges in the most cases. Especially, the pitch range is important for word conditions. And, as imitators change the voice, the average value of f0 is close to high frequence than low frequence or middle level.

  • In this paper, we explain telecommunication services based on spoken language information technology. There are three different kinds of services. The first is based on Advanced Intelligent services(AIN). We built a Intelligent Peripheral(IP)with speech recognition, speech synthesis and VoiceXML interpreter. The second is based on KT-HUVOIS, a proprietary speech platform based on VoiceXML. The third is based on VoiceXML interpreter. We explain various services depending on these platforms in detail.
