An Acoustic Study on the Voice Imitation(3) - Based on a professional voice imitator′s speech - (모방 발화의 음향음성학적 연구(3) -전문 성대 모사자의 자료를 중심으로-)

  • In this study, we investigated acoustic characteristics of imitated utterances by a professional voice imitator, focusing on prosodic properties such as vowel formants and f0 distribution. To see the patterns of a voice imitation by a professional voice imitator, we compared the imitator's voice data with target speakers' voice data. The professional imitator, Mr. Bae produced utterances imitating the former President Kim's, the comedian Choi's, and the singer Bae's voices. Auditorily, the imitator was judged to imitate all the target speakers' voices successfully. However, acoustic examination showed that the imitator was better at imitating the singer Bae's voice in that the imitator's and the singer Bae's voices are more alike with respect to vowel formants and f0 distribution. We infer this is because the imitator's normal voice is very similar to the singer Bae's voice. On the other hand, the imitator's voice data showed that the patterns of vowel formants and f0 distribution found in the imitator's imitation voices of the other two target speakers were different from those of target speakers' voices.

  • The most basic means of communication among humans is a voice. Without speaking of voice technologies, we found it is important and convenient to use a voice in everyday life. But. in consideration to speech recognition systems, we can't always desire a normal voice input as input signal to the system. Generally speaking. a pathological voice as against a normal which is a voice with a problem in the larynx. could be also special case of input voice. Of course, but the distortion of a speech signal by environmental effects i.e., noise or transmission channel was a raised problem. we will take up a pathological voices with laryngeal disease which is essential distortion factor in voice. Also, we are to find out the difference of acoustic parameters distribution between normal and pathological voice by a statistical method in our research.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm to improve the performance of a voice activity detection(VAD) which is based on the generalized normal-Laplace(GNL) distribution. In our algorithm, the probability density function(PDF) of the noisy speech signal is represented by the GNL distribution and the variance of the speech and noise of GNL distribution are estimated using higher order moments. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm yields better results compared to the conventional VAD algorithms.

Customer Complaint Intention in the Service Distribution Industry : Types and Determinants (서비스 유통 산업에서 고객 불평의도 유형과 결정요인)

  • Purpose - With growing competition in the service distribution industry, the importance of managing customer complaints has increased. If firms handle customer complaints effectively, they can strengthen customer loyalty and repurchase intention. Many studies have focused on customers expressing complaints, yet research on silent customers is scant. This study focuses on two types of complainers and non-complainers. In other words, this study is to examine the value of voice complaint intention and no-action intention. This study also investigates how perceptual and relational factors affect complaint intention. Research design, data, and methodology - This study was carried out using the survey with undergraduate students who have faced a service failure in a retail store(fast foods, electronics, apparel). And if such complaint were to occur again, respondents were asked about any possible action they would take. 300 questionnaires were distributed and a total of 279 respondents provided complete and usable data. The sample consisted of 158 males(56.6%) and 121 females(43.4%). The structural equation modeling analysis was used for the hypothesis test. Results - The results are as follows. First, attitude toward complaining, likelihood of successful complaint, and ease of complaint were positively related to voice complaint intention. Second, attitude toward complaining, likelihood of successful complaint, and ease of complaint were negatively related to no-action intention. Third, commitment was positively related to voice complaint intention but didn't have a significant negative impact on no action. Forth, voice complaint behavior reduced switching intention and no-action intention enhanced switching intention. Conclusions - The findings of this study confirm the value of complaint behavior and show voice complaint intention and no-action intention should be managed differently. Voice complaint intention is evaluated positively because it reflects customers' concerns about the company, while no-action intention is evaluated negatively. Attitude toward complaing is the most effective in increasing voice complaint intention and likelihood of successful complaint is a major factor in reducing no-action intention. Also, in explaining switching intention, voice complaint intention plays a more important role than no-action intention.

  • In this paper, we analyze the traffic characteristics in microcell and macrocell overlaid PCS system which process voice and dta calls separately each others. in this system, data calls are delayed in queue when all of channels are occupied, while voice calls are bolcked in that case. For this, we calculated inter-microcell handoff area dwelling time distribution and handoff area dwelling time distribution between microcell and macrocell. We analyze traffic performance using this results. We used M/M/C/K model, and analyzed traffic performance of macrocell with handoff area variation of microcell.

  • A traditional speech enhancement methods distort the sound spectrum generated according to estimation of the remaining noise, or invalid noise is a problem of lowering the speech recognition performance. In this paper, we propose a speech detection method that convergence the sound energy distribution process and sound energy parameters. The proposed method was used to receive properties reduce the influence of noise to maximize voice energy. In addition, the smaller value from the feature parameters of the speech signal The log energy features of the interval having a more of the log energy value relative to the region having a large energy similar to the log energy feature of the size of the voice signal containing the noise which reducing the mismatch of the training and the recognition environment recognition experiments Results confirmed that the improved recognition performance are checked compared to the conventional method. Car noise environment of Pause Hit Rate is in the 0dB and 5dB lower SNR region showed an accuracy of 97.1% and 97.3% in the high SNR region 10dB and 15dB 98.3%, showed an accuracy of 98.6%.

  • Normally, as a result of increased laryngeal growth, the male voice drops about one octave in pitch level during adolescence. Failure of the voice to drop in pitch is consider to be a clinically significant voice disorder - 'mutational dysphonia'. The aim of this article is to evaluate the changes brought about by voice therapy, using the analysis of the EGG measure from Lx Speech Studio program(Laryngograph Ltd, UK) as well as acoustic, and aerodynamic studies in 18-year-old mutational dysphonia patient. The results from the Lx Speech Studio program demonstrated bimodal distribution of DFx(Hz), DQx(%), QxFx and diplophonic characteristic. After voice therapy combined with manual compression method, the distribution of DFx, DQx, QxFx was changed uniform with a dramatic reduction of higher pitch level. In addition, this finding suggests the EGG measure helps to choice treatment options, monitor the efficacy of therapy, and estimate the prognosis of diseases.

  • In this paper we propose an improved voice activity detection (VAD) algorithm using statistical models in the signal subspace domain. A uncorrelated signal subspace is generated using embedded prewhitening technique and the statistical characteristics of the noisy speech and noise are investigated in this domain. According to the characteristics of the signals in the signal subspace, a new statistical VAD method using GGD (Generalized Gaussian Distribution) is proposed. Experimental results show that the proposed GGD-based approach outperforms the Gaussian-based signal subspace method at 0-15 dB SNR simulation conditions.

The Clinical Observation on the Effect of Quetong & Voice (비강 및 인두질환에 있어 쾌통과 보이스의 자각증상 호전도에 관한 임상적 고찰)

  • Objective: The purpose of this clinical observation was to estimate the efficacy of Quetong & Voice on the abatement of subjective symptoms related nose & pharynx. Methods: We observed 46 patients who visited Kang-Nam oriental hospital with subjective symptoms related nose & pharynx that were prescribed Quetong or Voice. We made an inquiry into the inconvenience, side effect, abatement of subjective symptoms, etc. We used the Wilcoxon signed rank test. Results and Conclusions: 1. The distribution of age & sex was as fallows: 21-30 years(34.8%) were the most, 31-40 years(26.1 %) were the second, 1-10 years(24.0%) were the third. Total patient numbers for men and women were 15 men(32.6%), 31 women(67.4%). 2. The distribution of prescribed aerosols for 46 patients: 5 cases(10.9%) prescribed Quetong, 22 cases(47.9%) prescribed Voice, and 19 cases(41.3%) prescribed Quetong & Voice. 3. The duration of use: 12 cases(26.1 %) used 1 week, 19 cases(41.3%) used 1-2 weeks, 9 cases(19.6%) used 2-4 weeks, 4 cases(8.7%) used 4-8 weeks, and 2 cases(4.3%) used above 8 weeks. 4. The frequency of use: The most patients used 1-5 times(69.6%) or 5-10 times(21.7%) for a day. 5. Quetong & Voice were effective on abatement of subjective symptoms(rhinorrhea, nasal obstruction, pharyngalgia, sneeze or cough, post nasal drip, pharyngeal pruritus, pharyngeal dryness, nasal dryness, and globus hystericus). 6. We must prescribe Quetong to the child or the sensitive patients with discretion becouse of the sting. 7. The side effect was not occurred in all of 46 patients.

불평에 대한 태도, 성공가능성, 지각된 가치 및 통제가능성이 구매후 불만족 행동에 미치는 효과

  • This study investigates a theoretical background to find the effects of antecedents on postpurchase dissatisfaction behavior. To test hypotheses empirically, 209 questionnaires were collected from customers of Korean retailers in Pusan. The results can be summarized as follows. First, the perceived likelihood of successful complaint, the perceived value of complaint, attitude toward complaining has a direct influence on voice. However, controllability has no significant effect on voice. Second, the controllability has a direct effect on exit but perceived value of complaint has no significant effect. Third, no variables have direct effects on negative word-of-mouth. These findings may reflect the fact that negative word-of-mouth is different from voice and exit in terms of dimensions of postpurchase dissatisfaction behavior.
