3G Long Term Evolution, which aims for various mobile multimedia service provision by enhanced wireless interface, proposes VoIP-based voice service through a Packet Switching (PS) domain. As delay and loss-sensitive VoIP traffic flows through the PS domain, more challenging technical difficulties are expected than in Circuit Switching (CS) domain based VoIP services. Moreover, since 3G LTE, which adopts the OFDM as its physical layer, introduces Physical Resource Block (PRB) as a unit for transmission resources, new types of resource management schemes are needed. This paper proposes a PRB scheduling algorithm of MAC layer for VoIP service in 3G LTE and shows the simulation results. The proposed algorithm has two key parts; dynamic activation of VoIP priority mode to satisfy VoIP QoS requirements and adaptive adjustment of the priority mode duration in order to minimize the degradation of resource utilization.

VoIP 음성 통신 시스템에서 통화를 할 때, 네트워크 상황이 나빠짐에 따라 시간 지연, 패킷 손실, 지터 등의 QoS 파라미터에 의한 영향이 발생하므로 통화 품질이 떨어지게 된다 통화 품질을 개선하기 위해서는 통화 품질과 QoS 파라미터와의 관계를 명확히 파악하고 그에 대한 개선 방법을 연구해야 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 통화 품질과 QoS 파라미터와의 상관관계를 회귀 분석을 통해 도출해 내었다. 제시된 음질 평가 기준은 QoS 파라미터만을 가지고 음질을 예측하기 때문에 계산량이 매우 적으며, 음질 평가 수행 중에 음성 통신 시스템에 거의 영향을 미치지 않는다는 장점을 가지고 있다.

In this paper, we present criteria of objective measurement of speech quality to provide the mobile-VoIP services efficiently over wireless mobile internet. The mobile-VoIP service, which is based on mobility and is error-prone compared to conventional VoIP over wired network, is about to be launched, but there have not been adequate quality indexes and the Quality of Service (QoS) standards for evaluating speech quality of Mobile-VoIP. In addition, there are many factors influencing on the speech quality in packet network of which packet loss contribute directly to the overall voice communication quality. For this reason, we adopt the Gilbert-Elliot Channel Model for modeling packet network based on IP and assess the voice quality through the objective speech method of ITU-T P. 862 PESQ and ITU-T P. 862.1 MOS-LQO under various packet loss rates in the transmission channel environments. Our simulation results address the specific criteria and QoS for the mobile-VoIP services in terms of the various packet loss environments.

In this paper, we present a next generation VoIP network architecture. Specifically, we present key components such as SoftSwitch and media gateway, and important protocols for VoIP services. We also present basic components and mechanisms for VoIP QoS. The architecture presented in this paper is able to support open interfaces and multimedia traffic, and therefore various multi-services can be supported efficiently using the architecture.

본 논문에서는 VoIP(Voice over IP)의 광대역 네트워크에서 QoS(Quality of Service)를 지원하기 위한 방안을 스케줄링을 중심으로 하여 연구하였다. 이를 위하여 라우터 중심의 포워딩(forwarding)에 있어서 재생손실(Play Out Loss)이 발생하는 버퍼에 대해서는 음성통신을 제외한 일반 데이터에 할당을 하고 들어오는 음성 데이터에 대해서는 토큰 할당 방식으로 자원을 할당하는 모델에 대해 제안하였다. 또한 음성 데이터에 대해서는 폐기에 대한 방법대신 거절 개념을 포함시켜 이를 EF(Expedited Forwarding)모델과 시뮬레이션을 통하여 분석을 하였다.

In this paper we propose an efficient mobile multimedia communication protocol, mobile terminal software platform and mobile VoIP application for IP-based convergence networks. The Proposed mobile multimedia communication protocol is called as ST-MRSVP (Split tunnel based Mobile Resource reServation Protocol) which integrates split tunnel based Mobile IP and RSVP in order to support hish speed mobility. Since mobile terminal platform supports QoS (Qualify of Service) with keeping seamless mobility, mobile QoS supporting modules are developed and interworked together by means of shared memory mechanism. Testbed is composed of a core-network embedding the proposed protocols and wireless LAN-based access networks. We verify functionality and performance of the proposed techniques by using various mobility test over the testbed. As a result, the proposed architecture can reduce the handover delay time with QoS support under 30% comparing with the standard mechanisms and support voice quality as good as CDMA phone.

본 논문은 단대단 지연을 감소시키고 낮은 비용으로 멀티캐스트 라우팅 트리를 생성할 수 있는 AQDMR 알고리즘을 제안한다. 현재의 라우터는 QoS(Quality of Service)를 보장하기 위해 인접된 노드로의 링크 정보를 라우팅 테이블에 보관하고 있다. 멀티캐스트 트리를 생성할 때 AQDMR 알고리즘은 동적으로 지연이 가장 작고 비용이 낮은 트리를 구성한다. 기존의 멀티캐스트 알고리즘과 비교한 시뮬레이션 결과, AQDMR 알고리즘은 빠르고 동적으로 멀티캐스트 트리를 구성할 수 있음을 입증하였다.

본 논문에서 우리는 DiffServ 환경에서 멀티미디어 서비스가 요구하는 품질 수준을 고려하는 QoS-aware AQM(Active Queue Management) 방안을 제안한다. 지연과 손실에 민감한 IPTV 및 VoIP와 같은 실시간 멀티미디어 서비스의 사용 증가로 인해 QoS 제공은 필수적이며, 이에 따라 응용계층에서 명시된 QoS 요구 수준을 네트워크 계층에서 인식하여 전달망에서 QoS를 제공할 수 있는 큐 관리 방안이 필요하다. 기존 DiffServ의 수정된 DSCP 필드를 이용하여 요청된 QoS 품질 정보를 네트워크 장비에 전달하고 해당 서비스의 지연 및 손실률 요구 수준에 대한 threshold margin을 도출하고 이 범위 내에서 큐의 임계값을 능동적으로 제어함으로써 종단간 IPTV 및 VoIP와 같은 멀티미디어 서비스의 QoS를 보장할 수 있다.

Which factors should influence consumer consideration to subscribe to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)? Policy issues, managerial concerns, and demographic variables are possible factors. This paper discusses policy and managerial issues regarding VoIP adoption. A model that explains VoIP adoption is proposed and tested. This study analyzes a survey of 750 prospective VoIP users in Korea. The testing is accompanied by logistic regression and discriminant analysis. The results show that trust in VoIP, relative comparison of Quality to fixed service, numbering plan, satisfactions of call Quality and customer services on both fixed and mobile services have impacts on the adoption of VoIP. Implications for VoIP providers and policy makers are presented.

본 논문에서는 리눅스 커널에서 VoIP(Voice over IP) 트래픽을 탐지하고 제어하는 네트워크 모쥴을 설계하고 구현하는 연구를 소개한다. 구현하는 리눅스 네트워크 모듈은 실시간으로 VoIP 세션연결 요청 패킷을 탐지하고 정해진 정책(policy)에 따라 서비스 품질(QoS)을 제어할 수 있다.
