색각 이상 사용자를 위한 MPEG-21 디지털 아이템 적응 변환

  • This paper has been studied the adaptation technique for color vision variations in the MPEG-21 Digital Item Adaptation (DIA). As color is more widely used to carry visual information in the multimedia content, ability to perceive color plays a crucial role in getting visual information. DIA is performed respectively for severe color vision deficiency (dichromats) and for mild color vision deficiency (anomalous trichromats), according to the description of user characteristics about color vision variations. Adapted images are tested by simulation program for color vision variations so as to recognize the appearance of the adapted images in the color deficient vision. Experimental result shows that proposed adaptation technique works well in the MPEG-21 framework.

완전교정과 저교정 상태에서 조절반응 변화량의 비교 (Comparison between Accommodative Response Change on the Full Vision Correction and Low Vision Correction)

  • 목적: 양안개방형 자동굴절검사기를 이용하여 완전교정과 저교정 상태에서 실제 일어나는 조절 반응량을 측정하여 조절의 변화를 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 20~30세($21.14{\pm}2.00$세)의 대학생 79명(남 58명, 여 21명)을 대상으로 타각적 자각적 굴절검사를 실시하여 완전교정은 시력이 1.0일 때, 저교정은 임의적으로 플러스 렌즈를 부가하여 0.8, 0.7, 0.6일 때의 조절 반응량을 5.0 m, 1.0 m, 0.50 m, 0.33 m, 0.25 m에서 측정하였다. 피검사자를 대상으로 주시거리에 따른 1.0, 0.8, 0.7, 0.6 시력 상태에서 조절 반응량의 변화를 비교 분석하였다. 결과: 우안 좌안 모두 완전교정 상태(1.0)가 저교정 상태(0.7) 보다 조절 반응량의 값이 크게 나타났다(p=0.000). 완전교정 상태가 저교정 상태(0.7) 보다 주시거리가 짧아질수록 조절 반응량의 변화가 더 크게 나타났다. 주시거리에 따른 시력과 조절 반응량의 상관관계는 거리가 짧을수록 더 낮게 조사 되었다. 결론: 장시간 근거리 작업은 조절기능에 영향을 줄 수 있으므로 저교정을 하여 눈의 안위를 편안하게 하는 것이 안정피로 증상을 해소하는데 도움이 될 것이다.

Improving Visual Accessibility for Color Vision Deficiency Based on MPEG-21

  • In this paper, we propose a visual accessibility technique in an MPEG-21 framework. In particular, MPEG-21 visual accessibility for the colored-visual resource of a digital item is proposed to give better accessibility of color information to people with color vision deficiency (CVD). We propose an adaptation system for CVD as well as a description of CVD in MPEG-21. To verify the usefulness of the proposed method, computer simulations with CVD and color adaptation were performed. Furthermore, a statistical experiment was performed using volunteers with CVD in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed visual accessibility technique in MPEG-21. Both the experimental and simulation results show that the proposed adaptations technique can provide better color information, particularly to people with CVD.

  • Developments in science and technology based on computer technology influenced military fields and created up-to-date weapons and equipment, and as a result, which is changing the war accomplishing methods of the future warfare. Due to these changes in the war accomplishing methods, the army command centers are requested to make changes in their decision-making process. In other words, they need to apply more scientific methods rather than just build a scheme by the mere analysis of commanders and the staffs as in the past. Consequently, we propose a model, Vision 21 we developed as a war game model for division-size unit analysis use, in the COA development process, which is the most important part in establishing the OPLAN for mission accomplishment. Vision 21, with a comparative analysis of the other COA built in the COA development process, can be applied to making the best COA. Model employment concept can let us choose the best COA, operating war games on condition that the COA of the opposite forces is fixed and ours sequentially opposed against, and with a comparative analysis also. Moreover, if the time available is limited, before establishing several courses, we can apply the COA to the process for making the best decision, analysing in stages or by main phases and not establishing several courses for a special purpose.

컴퓨터 비전 기술을 활용한 관객의 움직임과 상호작용이 가능한 실시간 파티클 아트 (Real-time Interactive Particle-art with Human Motion Based on Computer Vision Techniques)

  • We present a real-time interactive particle-art with human motion based on computer vision techniques. We used computer vision techniques to reduce the number of equipments that required for media art appreciations. We analyze pros and cons of various computer vision methods that can adapted to interactive digital media art. In our system, background subtraction is applied to search an audience. The audience image is changed into particles with grid cells. Optical flow is used to detect the motion of the audience and create particle effects. Also we define a virtual button for interaction. This paper introduces a series of computer vision modules to build the interactive digital media art contents which can be easily configurated with a camera sensor.

Vision-based technique for bolt-loosening detection in wind turbine tower

  • In this study, a novel vision-based bolt-loosening monitoring technique is proposed for bolted joints connecting tubular steel segments of the wind turbine tower (WTT) structure. Firstly, a bolt-loosening detection algorithm based on image processing techniques is developed. The algorithm consists of five steps: image acquisition, segmentation of each nut, line detection of each nut, nut angle estimation, and bolt-loosening detection. Secondly, experimental tests are conducted on a lab-scale bolted joint model under various bolt-loosening scenarios. The bolted joint model, which is consisted of a ring flange and 32 sets of bolt and nut, is used for simulating the real bolted joint connecting steel tower segments in the WTT. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed vision-based technique is evaluated by bolt-loosening monitoring in the lab-scale bolted joint model.

Pure Vision Contact Lens 착용자에 대안 임상 적용 연구 (A study to determine the ability to clinically adapt for wearers of the Pure Vision contact lens)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 Pure Vision 콘택트렌즈를 착용하여 착용자의 적응력을 조사하였다. 방법에서 피검자는 78명의 대학생들로 이들의 타각과 자각적 방법에 의해서 분석하였다. 매일 착용 또는 연속착용 동안 임상 적용에 대한 상대적인 결과들은 일주일 기간이 지난 후 분석을 하였다. 결과는 다름과 같다. 1. 시기능의 상태는 우수함 62.3%, 적당함 27.2%, 좋지 못함 10.6%이었다. 2. 부작용은 없음이 76.12%, 약간의 자극감이 18.21%, 그리고 심한 경험은 6.5%이었다. 3. 렌즈의 취급은 쉬움이 97.44%, 어려움이 2.56%이었다. 4. Pure Vision 렌즈의 특성에 대한 이해는 50.64%가 잘 이해를 잘하고 있었다. 결론적으로 대부분의 Pure Vision 콘택트렌즈 착용자들은 타각과 자각적으로 좋은 임상 반응을 가졌으나 약 절반정도는 렌즈의 특성을 충분히 이해하지는 못하였다.

무인선의 비전기반 장애물 충돌 위험도 평가 (Vision-Based Obstacle Collision Risk Estimation of an Unmanned Surface Vehicle)

  • This paper proposes vision-based collision risk estimation method for an unmanned surface vehicle. A robust image-processing algorithm is suggested to detect target obstacles from the vision sensor. Vision-based Target Motion Analysis (TMA) was performed to transform visual information to target motion information. In vision-based TMA, a camera model and optical flow are adopted. Collision risk was calculated by using a fuzzy estimator that uses target motion information and vision information as input variables. To validate the suggested collision risk estimation method, an unmanned surface vehicle experiment was performed.
