In this paper, we propose a control method of virtual hand by the recognition of a user's hand in the virtual reality game environment. We display virtual hand on the game screen after getting the information of the user's hand movement and the direction thru input images by camera. We can utilize the movement of a user's hand as an input interface for virtual hand to select and move the object. As a hand recognition method based on the vision technology, the proposed method transforms input image from RGB color space to HSV color space, then segments the hand area using double threshold of H, S value and connected component analysis. Next, The center of gravity of the hand area can be calculated by 0 and 1 moment implementation of the segmented area. Since the center of gravity is positioned onto the center of the hand, the further apart pixels from the center of the gravity among the pixels in the segmented image can be recognized as fingertips. Finally, the axis of the hand is obtained as the vector of the center of gravity and the fingertips. In order to increase recognition stability and performance the method using a history buffer and a bounding box is also shown. The experiments on various input images show that our hand recognition method provides high level of accuracy and relatively fast stable results.
In this paper, we propose the NAVER, a general framework for multipurpose virtual environments, and introduce the case study of evaluating car prototypes using cave-like systems. As a framework to implement variant applications in virtual environment, NAVER is extensible, reconfigurable and scalable. NAVER consists of several external modules (Render Server, Control Server and Device Server), which communicate each other to share states and user-provided data and to perform their own functions. NAVER supports its own scripting language based on XML which allows a user to define variant interactions between objects in virtual environments as well as describe the scenario of an application. We used NAVER to implement the system for evaluating car prototyes in a CAVE-like virtual environment system. The CAVE-like virtual environment system at KIST consists three side screens and a floor screen (each of them is a square with side of 2.2m), four CRT projectors displays stereoscopic images to the screens, a haptic armmaster, and a 5.1 channel sound system. The system can provide a sense of reality by displaying auditory and tactile senses as well as visual images at the same time. We evaluate car prototypes in a CAVE-like system in which a user can observe, touch and manipulate the virtual installation of car interior.
Meta-thinking is a kind of thinking beyond certain scope or border, which sees objects as an expanded definition exceeding its essence. It can be experienced when people come into contact with new things. As for digital media, experience acquired from computer screen makes users' thinking be changed continuously and help their thinking to be expanded. Today, studies on development of digital technology regarding virtual reality (VR) and experience obtained from digital media become a topic of conversation, however, this experience depends on the sense of sight through screen. Actually, transparent experiences in digital media are not the same with those in real world, therefore, this study investigated experience expansion through interaction with real things which are much closer to daily lives than virtual experiences. It can be found in media art which induces positive participation of audiences and shows them a new meaning through delight and amusement experienced in the process of interaction. Visual expression in digital media should be more than spectacular which is only full of excessive images. In addition, interface should not be remained as an expression from technological attempts, instead, it is necessary to find humans aspiration with meta-thinking which accepts things expansively and visualize their experiences.

The bobsleigh is a winter sport which use a sled to slide down an ice-covered course. There is a big expectation for having a training environment and being able to train year round. At present, training is very limited due to the season or course facilities. A variety of VR (Virtual Reality) equipment has been developed in recent years, and it is beginning to spread. We have also made our contribution in bobsleigh simulation. The reactive force applied in our bobsleigh simulation is much smaller than that of a real bobsleigh. This paper proposes a method to enhance reactive force of bobsleigh simulation in real time. The reactive force is magnified instantly in the physically-based simulation. The Laplacian filter is applied to the sequence of reactive force, this technique is often used in the field of image processing. The simulation is comprised of four large scale surround screens and a 6-D.O.F. (Degree Of Freedom) motion system. We also conducted an experiment with several motion patterns to evaluate the effectiveness of enhancement. The experimental results proved useful in some cases.

With the current surge in leisure sports activities involving firearms and the costly shooting practices in the military, there's a growing interest in using virtual reality as a cost-effective alternative. This study proposes a system that addresses the drawbacks of existing shooting practice setups, such as dim spaces and high installation costs, by making it feasible on large display screens. The system integrates IR receivers and guns for practice, ensuring usability and efficiency through an application. Additionally, an accuracy adjustment feature enhances precise coordination recognition. As a result, this cyber light gun system offers an affordable solution for outdoor training.

The purpose of this study is to see the feasibility of the newly developed 2D dosimetry system using phosphor screen for helical tomotherapy. The cylindrical water phantom was fabricated with phosphor screen to emit the visible light during irradiation. There are three types of virtual target, one is one spot target, another is C-shaped target, and the other is multiple targets. Each target was planned to be treated at 10 Gy by treatment planning system (TPS) of tomotherapy. The cylindrical phantom was placed on the tomotherapy table and irradiated as calculations of the TPS. Every frame which acquired by CCD camera was integrated and the doses were calculated in pixel by pixel. The dose distributions from the fluorescent images were compared with the calculated dose distribution from the TPS. The discrepancies were evaluated as gamma index for each treatment. The curve for dose rate versus pixel value was not saturated until 900 MU/min. The 2D dosimetry using the phosphor screen and the CCD camera is respected to be useful to verify the dose distribution of the tomotherapy if the linearity correction of the phosphor screen improved.
Recently, Many 3D augmented reality games that provide strengthened immersive have appeared in the 3D game environment. In this article, we describe a barehanded interaction method based on human hand gestures for augmented reality games. First, feature points are extracted from input video streams. Point features are tracked and motion of moving objects are computed. The shape of the motion trajectories are used to determine whether the motion is intended gestures. A long smooth trajectory toward one of virtual objects or menus is classified as an intended gesture and the corresponding action is invoked. To prove the validity of the proposed method, we implemented two simple augmented reality applications: a gesture-based music player and a virtual basketball game. In the music player, several menu icons are displayed on the top of the screen and an user can activate a menu by hand gestures. In the virtual basketball game, a virtual ball is bouncing in a virtual cube space and the real video stream is shown in the background. An user can hit the virtual ball with his hand gestures. From the experiments for three untrained users, it is shown that the accuracy of menu activation according to the intended gestures is 94% for normal speed gestures and 84% for fast and abrupt gestures.

It is very difficult assignment that grasp three-dimensional real life in Web base network environment. But, the recent simulation tools embody third dimension elements within 2 dimensions screen that is limited through third dimension implementation technology. Many GIS tools are offering excellent functions for third dimension data creation. But, research about design of third dimension GIS that use virtual reality technique in Web environment is status that is unprepared. So, in this research embodied third dimension topography map using virtual reality modelling language to produce active third dimension VR map that can supply visual information for direction, visual point that want in World Wide Web without support of expensive Map exclusive use program. And these 3D Web-Map is thought that possibility is enough as next generation map medium.
Background: Cardamom (Elettaria cardamom), also known as "Queen of Spices", has been traditionally used as a culinary ingredient due to its pleasant aroma and taste. In addition to this role, studies on cardamom have demonstrated cancer chemopreventive potential in in vitro and in vivo systems. Nevertheless, the precise poly-pharmacological nature of naturally occurring chemo-preventive compounds in cardamom has still not been fully demystified. Methods:In this study, an effort has been made to identify the proapoptopic, anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative, anti-invasive and anti-angiogenic targets of Cardamom's bioactive principles (eucalyptol, alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, d-limonene and geraniol) by employing a dual reverse virtual screening protocol. Experimentally proven target information of the bioactive principles was annotated from bioassay databases and compared with the virtually screened set of targets to evaluate the reliability of the computational identification. To study the molecular interaction pattern of the anti-tumor action, molecular docking simulation was performed with Auto Dock Pyrx. Interaction studies of binding pose of eucalyptol with Caspase 3 were conducted to obtain an insight into the interacting amino acids and their inter-molecular bondings. Results:A prioritized list of target proteins associated with multiple forms of cancer and ranked by their Fit Score (Pharm Mapper) and descending 3D score (Reverse Screen 3D) were obtained from the two independent inverse screening platforms. Molecular docking studies exploring the bioactive principle targeted action revealed that H- bonds and electrostatic interactions forms the chief contributing factor in inter-molecular interactions associated with anti-tumor activity. Eucalyptol binds to the Caspase 3 with a specific framework that is well-suited for nucleophilic attacks by polar residues inside the Caspase 3 catalytic site. Conclusion:This study revealed vital information about the poly-pharmacological anti-tumor mode-of-action of essential oils in cardamom. In addition, a probabilistic set of anti-tumor targets for cardamom was generated, which can be further confirmed by in vivo and in vitro experiments.
