Yangdong village is located at Kangdong-myun, Kyungju, Kyungsangbuk-do, Korea. There are two major families, the Sons of Wallsung beginned from Son, So(1433∼1484) and the Lees of Yeohkang the descendant of Lee, Unjeok. They are lived together under check and help for 500 years. The village located on the hill of Ankang plain. There are Homyung mountain and Sonaiu peak in front of it and Solchang mountain on the back. 47 shaped ridges form Blue dragon to the east, and White tiger to the west. Ahnrockchon flows from north Joined Hyungsan river and flows into Youngilman. Therefore the village is located at mountain on it's back and along with stream. Buildings are deployed on the valley between hills, it is not easily detected, but it give it's atmosphere of mountain village. Village location and space composition combined with natural environment, folk belief, feng-shui, and social system of confucianism. Blended buildings affected between ruling and ruled classes or among different families shown environmental design accomplishing united cultural space. The prospect of Yangdong village, a mountain village, expressed two sides of visible scenery of open inside and invisible from outside. Observation point such as head family house, pavilion, and village school are deployed at the point taking bird's-eye view, which striving mental stability.

The traditional village, which is subject for this paper, can be defined as a community having unique combinations of natural, cultural, and social characteristics of that nation, which reflects settlement environments during hundreds of years. Now, in spite of tis potential power of traditional village, national strategies do not find satifsactory directions in Korea. In terms of this concenrs, this paper tries to analyze and diagnose about successful precedents(Tsumage village and Shiragawa village, Japan) with focus on the village management. And this paper aims to explore concrete management systems of Japanese cases, to find clues for practical application, and to suggest several instructive concepts in the light of management system of traditional village management. The analysis is progressed in three viewpoints(village space, village attraction, and village community). And it is extracted that diverse management systems are necessary to secure sustainable traditional village and their way of life, particularly in the face of the pressure of tourism. As a result of exploring of Japanese two cases, representative characteristics, which are found, are as follow; Fist, objective of management is not tourism development but maintenance of sustainable life system. Second, management systems are having not compulsory but spontaneous open decision making process, and in particular, village management is mainly operated by the local government and semipublic institute(inhabitants-oriented0 which have the strongest influential power in village composition units. Finally, village management programs are mostly experience-type and are composed of public law and regulations, diverse operation program, and individual efforts of inhabitants for village management. Because this paper mainly focused on two precedents, there should be more diverse cases. however, extracted conclusions have practical meanings for village management and can be used in re-establishing management concepts of Korean traditional villages.

This study is focusing on the Nagan Folk Village, primarily because of its historical and cultural values. The purpose of this study, accordingly, analysis the fact of the dwelling change through spot-survey and case-investigation, and is to find a way to improve for the rational preservation of the traditional dwelling analyzing on the actual condition and the reason for such changes in the Nakan Folk Village. The dwelling change is stemmed from the physical factors, and some modifications of internal composition, exterior formation, building equipment. As a result, The changes of internal composition are included in the reduction of garnering room, the enlargement of bed/service room, the establishment of mechanical room. The changes of exterior formation with structural material are included in the glass door for the internalization of 'TOEMARU', the extra glass door for the brightening of room, the cement plastering for the endurance of wall. The changes of building equipment are included in the establishment of oil-boiler, wash closet, sink for convenient life All houses should be graded on their qualitative value, managed in a cycle. And its own criterion for acceptable deformations should be established.

This study aims to investigate the mechanism that analysis of the layout-structure of the Traditional Village Oeam. It can identify through the division of area, the properties of layout residential type, the relationship between buildings and roads and location of buildings and a gate. Traditional Folk Village is our precious cultural heritage. However, now is time for our disappearing heritage due to the indiscriminate development. This study will good references for residential Complex in modern society. As a result of this study road in the center of village is divided into two areas. The road and stream plays an important role in the housing layout and composition of the village. Oeam village houses are separated by scale as large, middle, small scale housing. The courty yard is formed widely through a various of housing plan. So that ventilation and light is favorable even if the main house is high. Each house has the individuality with avoiding the village roads and using the byroads and stone wall. Therefore, each house can protect the privacy of houses.

The rice mill occurred from modernization process of the farming village. It comes to follow in intention of the architect and is not the position building. By the user of the building it comes to follow necessary and it is a position thing. The like this rice mill was the community center of the village. Also the material which is unique and form quality were land mark of the village. The object of research is the rice mill where it takes charge of a like this role. And the scope of research is 8 rice mills of Eomjeong Myeon Chungju City which is located in the northern Chungbuk area. The progress of research the documentary survey, actual measurement, question, field work it analyzed the construction quality which the rice mill keeps with base and it arranges. The results of study are follows; 1. conditions of location : The rice mill the entrance of the village, the crossroads system is formed most the place is doing in the place which well. 2. The inside composition of a space : In order to compose the work space and the store space efficiently the plane surface is doing a rectangular form. 3. Form of roof : The roof raises the efficient characteristic of the work where is not the design which is intended to be naturally formed from the space composition for. 4. Selection of material : Most it was a natural enemy and an utility, it selected the scientific material and it used.
The purpose of this study is on identifying charactreistics and management direction of complementary pond of Dalmaji village in Gangjin. Accordingly, this village was indicated as Experience and Resort village by Korean government. This study describes the construction background and characteristics and identifies species diversity and characteristics through field survey. For this, literature and field survey was performed. In field survey, vegetational survey was performed in Aug. of 2015. D(Dominant degree) and S(Sociability degree) was measured by Brown-Blanquet's method. The answer was searched from Myungsanron(明山論), a textbook of Fengsui(風水) in Joseon dynasty. Of these causes, it was considered that the representative one is a protection of fire and infectious disease because the Wolgak mountain is a fire mountain(火山) as a stone mountain in Fengsui. The results demonstrate decline of aquatic ecosystem because of neglect management. The total number of species was 24. Of the species, Zelkova serrata is a natural vegetation of this complementary forest. This is nominated as Lagerstroemia indica and Camellia japonica community. Species composition demonstrate the characteristics of Korean southern region as mixed forest of evergreen trees and deciduous ones which are indigenous plants. It was considered Juniperus chinensis KaizukaVariega in central round island was planted in Japanese colonial period and it have to be removed. It was considered that name of moon pond and moon island etc. projects the mind of village ancestors which are going to reach an ideal condition of moon. And management of quantity and depth of pond water was critical for restoration of disappearing lotus from related literature. Periodic management was needed for ecological structure and function improvement because of ecological disturbance by the invasive plants like Humulus japonicus.
104 village has kept the landscape of low-income settlements at hillside village as called 'Daldongnae' since 1960s. It has high urban and social values in modern housing history of Korea. This study is to analyze the basic type, transformed type of street facade and also the meaning in the modern housing history. It analyzes basic elements(building elevation, gate, fence) and subsidiary elements(roof form, door, window), and the type of street facade by the composition of the element.
This research is to analyze the spatial organization of a traditional rural community and its characteristics, the case of Hanbam village located in the north of Daegu city. The conclusions of this study are as follows; 1. The difference between private space and public space in the residential area of Hanbam village is obvious, and these two spaces are organically related each other by means of road. These spaces have some spatial characteristics of organization, such as center, hierarchy and sequence. 2. The private space consists of a residence module and a farming area in the settlement, and it is clearly farmed by the firm fence of rocks and by surrounding roads. Fruit-bearing trees such as Pyrus pyrifolia, Cornus officinalis, Diospyros kaki, Juglans sinensis are planted at the boundary. And most of residences are composed of a building, a inner court and farming fields. 3. The public space for the community mainly functions as ‘a meeting place’for residents, and consists of recreational spaces, ceremonial spaces, community facilities, and social facilities. Among these, Jeong-ja(pavilion), Seong-an Soop(forest) and Dae-chong(building for common use) are of great cultural value as important traditional spaces. 4. Two kinds of road are commonly fecund in the village; spontaneously generated one and planned one. This is straight inner streets and access paths to the village, and that is curvilinear alleys which are connected to Dae-chong, the core of village. Also stone walls and climbing plants on them are major elements of village landscape.
This study is to analyze the residential spatial composition structures of vernacular agricultural village which to be called Wanggok in Yeongdong area. The results of this study are as follows; ${\cdot}$ The backyard of farmhouses is surrounded by a fence and a frontyard is open to the road, so that the spatial realm system from the road to the backyard is classified as public-semi public-private realm. ${\cdot}$ The plan type of this village is mainly composed of ㅡ type Gyeobjib (the two row rooms under one roof) and ㄱ type Gyeobjib, the Anmaru (the inner wood floor to be surrounded with wall) in both of which plays an important role that connects Sarangbang (the men's main room) with Anbang (the women's main room) in the residential space. ${\cdot}$ The particular item that not found out in another area is the Sarangbang kitchen which located to Sarangbang's side wall to be furnished with a fire hole. ${\cdot}$ The houses represent the socio-cultural environmental elements of those built days, such as while Sarangbang is faced on a frontyard to be open to the neighborhood, Anbang is faced on a backyard surrounded with a fence to be closed to the one. ${\cdot}$ The Gyeobjib with Anmaru appeared by cultural transformation connecting the 田-shaped house of Hamgyeongdo with the Gyeobjib with Anmaru of Gangwondo and Gyeongsangbukdo. ${\cdot}$ The ㄱ type Gyeobjib is preferred to ㅡ type Gyeobjib because of the sea wind and the north-east wind occurring by geographical and climatic environment elements, the privacy protection according to look into a frontyard, the muck drainage of cowshed to make use of ground unevenness, the economic gains called material saving and the intention to enlarge the frontyard as to be concentrated in a residential space and etc.
This article is to review the concepts of Confucian Utopia in Chosun Dynasty by looking into a sample of Daksil Village in Bongwha area. Here are some of the investigation. 1. The spatial composition entities of Daksil Village are both Confucian and Tao elements. 2. The whole views are made up by placing the Taoist View(gardens) into the Confucianist view(village and Seowon) and by placing the Confucianist view(summer house) into the Taoist view(Valley view of Seokcheonjeong). Two worlds are integrated into one by including each other. 3. According to the theory of geomancy(fang-shui), Daksil has the shape of ‘Geum-Gye-Po-Ran (Golden chicken embracing eggs)’, which is considered to be a land of fortune. Conclusively, Confucianists in Chosen Dynasty adopted fang-shui details when they built a residence, while they put much importance on Confucian and Tao elements. Moreover, it is found in the records that “It is a good place to start a village if there are mountains and water near the residence.” The fact that Daksil village is located at a day's distance from Seowon-Seokcheonjeongsa-Village-Jaesil-Grave proves that the residential village is set at an ideal place.
