Since 2004, Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries(MIFAFF) has been carrying out comprehensive rural village development project as the core one of Rural Area Development Schemes in Korea. Up to now, 56 projects had been completed after having with 5-year plan implementation period, on which it is possible to try post-project evaluation works. This study aims to propose a rational income-generation works model of comprehensive rural village development project, based on fulfillment checking results of their statutory stepwise working procedures specified in the project guidelines and their interim/post project performance analysis results in 56 project areas above mentioned. In comprehensive rural village development project, income-generation works generally have both quantitative and qualitative effects to rural communities; the former is focussed on income increasement of villagers, while the latter on community revitalization through job creation and spill-over effects of other linked community activities. So, the research works of this study focussed on these two comprehensive effects above mentioned.
The purpose of this study is to develop a land use planning model (LUPM) which can be applied to development of rural villages considering their spatial expansion. The LUPM finds out and allocates the new built site required for the improvement of existing villages. in the development of LUPM, CA (cellular automata) and land suitability analysis methods were applied combinedly. The model uses basically numerical data of CIS based on grid data. Agglomerated settlement, as a type of village for simulation, was adopted. Probability of land use change for optimizing development area was calculated by the six criteria: slope. drainage characteristic, direction of slope, as absolute suitability of grid itself, distance from road. distance from stream and distance from the village center, as relative probability by neighborhood cells. Weighting values of these criteria were quantified by AHP (analytic hierarchy process) method, which is one of MCE(multi-criteria evaluation) method. The algorithm of the model was verified by three example villages: an isolation village, a village with horizontal road, and a village with nodal point of cross road
This study was to find out contemporary planning characteristics of rural houses in Na-po Munhwa village by analyzing their floor plans. These results were then compared with apartment housing trends. 240 houses were built in that village, but it was only possible to collect housing data, floor plans and general building records from 102 houses, using house registers. By analyzing those data, the findings were as follows: 1) Floor plan shapes of rural houses showed a tendency to words a 'ㅋ' shape, a 3bay or a transformed 3 bay and a "room-living-room" space arrangement of a centered living room. Public spaces (L.D.K) were separately planned DK from livingroom. Living space was very open and the DK space had created visual privacy from the entrance. The Anbang (master bedroom) and living space were set to the front of the floor plan and an interior toilet was planned in them. These floor-planning tendencies were similar to trend apartment houses in urban areas. 2) Utility and Balcony spaces as a support space of kitchen were not popular features of rural houses in the Munhwa village. These results were different from urban apartment housing trends. 5) Storage space practically absent in those rural houses, and this was similar to urban the trends in urban apartment houses.
This study is to explore implications for sustainable development of Yangdong Village in Gyeongju through identifying effect of its designation as a World Cultural Heritage on residents' quality of life. The following are the findings achieved by empirical analysis. First, eight valuable factors of placeness were identified through factor analysis, about which residents were especially conscious in terms of "living condition", "cultural environment", "economic QOL", "natural environment conservation", "sense of community", "cooperative facilities", "control over increasing population", "transport environment". Second, the importance -satisfaction scores of identified 8 factors were found very high in importance showing relatively low level of low level of satisfaction. Especially, what caused residents's low QOL was economic status-concerned factor showing the lowest QOL index, and other factors such as cooperative facilities and transport environment negatively impacted on resident's QOL as well. Also, it was revealed that residents had a positive attitude toward entering of their village into UNESCO world heritage sites with hope that it would improve their economic QOL. Based on these results, implications for sustainability of Yangdong Village and research limitations were discussed, and further research direction was supposed.
The coastal village in Woljeong-ri, Jeju is highly preferred by tourists because of its unique natural landscape different from inland areas. Especially, the number of buildings in the coastal area of the village is increasing due to escalating commercial value. Buildings are densely developed, along the seaside, resulting in privatization of coastal landscape. This results in blocking of landscape and psychological exchanges between the coastal village and coast. This study analyzed the actual conditions of coastal landscape before and after 2010, when the number of tourists and demand for development were increased in the coastal area of the coastal village in Woljeong-ri, Jeju. In this study, open index, visible horizontal index, elevation angle, elevation blockage and visible facade index were used to compute objective indicators of coastal landscape status. The analysis reveals visible facade index, a complex landscape assessment indicator, was increased by 7 times after 2010 as compared with before 2010. As such, there are many coastal villages in Jeju similar to Woljeong-ri that have a high landscape value and are in need of management. A comprehensive measure including a system for management of coastal landscape is urgently required to create narrative landscape in Jeju.
Now in order to overcome the weakest points of the rural areas of the city of Kimje and, transform them into rural cultural villages which have local governing systems suitable to new localization age and activate this plan, we selected Daesan Village as a model village which had shown a lot of potentials in the basic research and studied it dividing it into the former part and the latter part. We studied Daesan village in the former part focusing on state analysis and basic ideas and in the latter part focusing on master plan and detail planning. We can summarize the conclusion like the followings. 1. Daesan Village located 8 kilometer away from the downtown Kimje and the city of Iksan respectably has comparatively good environment of good sunny place as an open field whose surrounding configuration of the ground consists of farming lands and low hills in front and rear. It has 38 farming households in all. 2. Human environment(인문환경); the village road whose width is about 4 meters is forming a flow system forking off into three. There is a route bus which operates three times a day even into the inside of the village. The main sources of revenue are vegetables in facilities, fruits and floriculture. Their average revenue is about 10.5 million won. 3. Here in DaeSan Village a legend dealing with Teasan literally meaning a big mountain consist of th village's tradition and you can see the tombs of a very faithful son and Anwi an army general in the age of the Japanese Invasion of Korea of 1592 to 1598 inside the village. 4. 85 out of the eitire population 141 whose age are over 20 showed very positive attitudes in a questionnaire about, making the village a cultural one and its development. 5. The basic of planned ideas is to increase the revenue of the farming household by making the village a professional farming one which has a state-of the-art production facility and agricultural technique. It is to make the village the one where people can enjoy the sense of the rural life and the farmer can enjoy their lives through consumptive and consistant leisure and resting activities. 6. We are planning to make entrance space, life space, rest and sport space, and cultural space considering the characteristics of the village and the demand of the resident. We are also planning to make tile entire city of Kimje an information transmitting base in short and long term perspectives. 7. DaeSan Village was planned as a place where tradition and the future exist together. On the basis of this concept we planned future programs for Daesan Village and in the latter part of the study master plans and detail plans will be continued.the regional agricultural condition. The development permissions were only during the period of restricted to use ($1979.12{\sim}1993.11$). We propose that the authority of development permission should be given to the local autonomy government, because the local government has the knowledge of its individual agricultural conditions.

Specially, users are dissatisfied with curtains at room and handralis at entrance. In terms of design, users about the indoor-outdoor environment as a whole was unsatisfactory. Second, survey on actual needs space scrutinized bathroom, kitchen, and stair/slope according to priority. In result of these surveys, user's satisfaction with village community center and actual needs space show needed improvements on bathroom and stair/slope space urgently.
This study has purpose to make a report on the newly established rural villages in this country, and to find out the success factors of the rural village project focusing the developers who succeeded in the sales of rural village with emphasized community function. For this study, 123 projects informed from the website(www.welchon.com) were analyzed on the frequency and the officials in charge were interviewed by telephone on the step of projects. In addition, 4 personnel of development companies answered the semi-structured questionnaire on the location, development theme, preparative resident meeting, and success factors of 7 projects which was dealt with content analysis. The result was as follows. 1) Among the projects, more than 50% were the detached housing type with less than 50 units, and also were the resident-driven development projects. Only 5 projects were completed. 2) The personnel of development companies pointed at the location, environment for the economic activity, project theme and continuous resident meeting, as success factors of project. The barriers for rural village development policy are inadequate regulation and long administrative procedure. The preparative resident meeting is an important success factor, so that the system and the cost to run a professional program have to be guaranteed.
