  • For studying on the actual condition of the oral health control of the old there were invastigations on the Questions with the college of the old in Chonbuk as the central figure from June 1 to June 30, 1998 and the analyses about the frequency and the mutual relation through χ²-test. The results are as follow: 1. According to the result of the investigation into the actual condition about the oral health of the old, two times a day in the frequency of tooth brush per day was the highest at the rate of 50.35%, the use of dentifrice was 45.4%, and the exchanging time of tooth-brush after six months was the highest at the rate of 19.7%. And 96.1% didn't use dental floss and 73.6% didn't do scaling. It is thought that since 50% used tooth sticks and match sticks we have to inform the old of the necessity of dental plague and period oral examination. 2. In oral health situation, it showed that the number of people who were very week was the highest at the rate of 37% and there was the mutual relation between the use of tooth sticks and match sticks and present situation of oral health. And 54.93% visited the dental clinic wethin a year, and 22.3% among them made full denture. There was the mutual relation between the visit of dental clinic within a year and the consultation content and the number of people who teld that the consultation expense was very expensive was the higest at the rate of 27.8% and 87% didn't experience the oral education. So it is thought that we have to make an systematic education about the oral to the old and inform them of the necessity of oral health control. 3. We think it needs the establishment and plane of the systematic basis material and the oral education which is necessary in oral public industry for the dental preventive suitable to the characteristic of the old.

  • The purpose of this study was to improve the understanding of stress coping in the very old and elderly and to improve life satisfaction through stress reduction as the population ages. To this end, this study aimed to test the mediating effect of social support on the relationship between stress coping and life satisfaction among very old people. In particular, we paid attention to the differences in stress coping from the existing elderly population and took the view that they should be studied as an independent group. To confirm this, we analysed 275 men and women aged 85 years and older who responded to the fifth supplementary survey of the National Elderly Security Panel (KReIS) conducted by the National Pension Service. IBM SPSS 26 was used to test the mediating effect of social support on the effect of stress coping measures on life satisfaction in the very old elderly. The results of the significance test of the independent variables on the mediating variable showed that stress coping was positively significant, i.e., the higher the level of stress coping, the higher the life satisfaction. In addition, the results of the significance test of the effects of the independent variables and mediators on the dependent variable showed that coping with stress had a significant effect, and the mediator, social support, also had a significant effect on life satisfaction. Therefore, this study suggests the need for social support to improve the level of life satisfaction through coping with stress in the very old elderly.

  • The realization of a monitoring system for senior citizens living alone through wireless sensor network. Due to the recent advances in medical science, people live longer than ever before which accelerates the number of senior citizens. The high rate of the old people in population causes some changes in the form of families, which results in the increasing number of old people living by themselves. This also causes a lot of social problems concerning aging population. For example, people found a dead body of 83-year-old, who had lived alone, after he passed away a month before. There is a national monitoring service for the old people of their daily lives, but the application of such system is very limited. Considering this, the current paper focuses on the realization of a monitoring system for senior citizens living alone through wireless sensor network. The system consists of ZigBee sensor network, which is based on standard IEEE 802.15.4. and the system uses Tmote Sky sensor mote made by Moteive, which is installed with TinyOS. The circumstances information data will be saved on DB and a household will be monitored through a Webpage or Mobile.

  • This study examines adult perceptions of old age planning and the factors that explain the degree of their planning for the future. The data came from 478 adults between the age of 30 and 59 living in Gunpo city. Major findings can be summarized as follows. First, we find that participants are well aware of the need for old age planning, and that the majority of them think aey are responsible for their old age security. Nevertheless they are not preparing for later life very much. Second, they are doing their best planking for their later lives in the area of social activities. The degree of participants' preparation varies depending on their age and socioeconomic factors. Finally, participants who strongly recognize their parents' role are also more likely to plan for the future. These results suggest that the educational programs and systems for pre-instruction about various plans for old age be developed for even younger people.

  • Objective: To investigate and compare the size of the rectus femoris (RF), tibialis anterior (TA), and medial gastrocnemius (GMM) using ultrasound (US) imaging in young, elderly, and very elderly groups. Design: Cross sectional study. Methods: This study consisted of 25 young (age 20 years), 24 elderly (age 65-74 years), and 25 very elderly (age 75-90 years) people with no physical dysfunctions. The cross sectional area (CSAs) of the RF and muscle thickness of the TA and GMM were measured at rest and during contraction using an US system. Results: The CSA of the RF and thickness of the TA and GMM were significantly smaller in the elderly and very elderly groups than in the young group (p<0.05). There was a significant difference of the CSA of the RF at rest and during contraction between elderly and very elderly group (p<0.05). In the comparison of the TA and GMM thickness between elderly and very elderly groups, there were no significant differences except for the TA thickness during contraction. There was a significant difference in the percentage change in RF CSA among the three groups (p<0.05). Conclusions: Our results revealed loss of muscle mass in the RF, TA, and GMM in elderly and very elderly people (${\geq}65$ years old). In particular, the greatest age-related decline in muscle mass was observed for the RF. Furthermore, the CSA of the RF declined with aging in the very elderly groups (${\geq}75$ years old).

  • Both traffic congestion and air pollution in the metropolitan area can be greatly relieved by promoting the use of public transportation with zero emission system. Bus and subway are very convenient means for the people moving in the route areas. But they are not enough to satisfy handicapped or old people to have access to them and also do not solve environmental problems completely. New vehicle system, fuel cell track rapid transit, will be introduced as a countermeasure for such problems in the present paper.

  • In old Korea from the 4th century of 6th cen-tury the lapels of You and upper garment folded slightly. It had tight sleeves and its length was not long reaching to the hips. but from the 7th century the sleeve of You became wider and its length became longer, Chinese You folded very deeply across the breast and its sleeve was tight. The length of Chinese You was short too strectching out to the hips. From the 5th century the sleeve of the Chinese You became wider Chinese trousers with wide crotch appeared in the 4th century during the time when Ezst Jin Dyn-asty ruled China. The upper garments with the wide sleeve was common by the 7th century in China. What is specially noteworthy is that Short-dalnyung appeared in the 5th ∼6th century. • The literature review for fall in the elderly has been done for the better quality of life of increasing elderly people toward 21 st century. Because 30 to 50% of over sixty five years old persons have experiences of fall, five percent of the fallen have trauma such as bone fracture requiring hospitalization and three quarter of people who die as fall are over 65 year old, fall is important health problem of them. There are very little societal interest in and research related to fall. Therefore, among recent foreign and our literatures studying literature review of frequency of fall, risk factors and assessing method for tall, and the management of fall prevention program, I would like to find research direction. Conclusivelly, we should study extensively the survey of the elderly's fall and on the basis of it. developing fall prevention program, promote the elderly's health through fall prevention.
