The effects of various fin length, flat plate inclined angle and Grashof number are mainly investigated The experimented results are as follows: The mean heat transfer coefficient increase according to the decrease of H/S in the various fin lengh. The mean heat transfer coefficient at H/S-0.5, 1.0, 1.5 for Gr=2.11$\times$103. $\theta$=00 increase by 107%, 43%, 15% than H/S=2.0. The mean heat transfer coefficient decrease with the increase of $\theta$ the inclined angles. The mean heat transfer coefficient at Gr=2.97$\times$103 is constant, at $\theta$= 00 for H/S=0.5 decrease by 33% than $\theta$=90$^{\circ}$. The mean heat transfer coefficient increase as Grashof as Grashof number increase. • New alternative refrigerants have been developed due to the ozone layer depletion and global warming. For this reason, carbon dioxide is believed to be a promising refrigerant for use in air conditioners and heat pumps. Evaporative heat transfer characteristics and pressure drop of $CO_2$ with outer diameter of 5 mm in inclined ($45^{\circ}$) smooth and micro-fin tubes have been investigated by the experiments with respect to several test conditions such as mass fluxes, heat fluxes, evaporation temperatures in this study. The inclined ($45^{\circ}$) smooth and micro-fin tubes with length of 1.44 m were installed to measure the evaporative heat transfer coefficients of $CO_2$ and heat was supplied to the refrigerant by direct heating method where the test tube was uniformly heated by electricity. The tests were conducted at mass fluxes from 212 to $656\;kg/m^2s$, heat fluxes from 15 to $60\;kW/m^2$ and evaporation temperatures from -10 to $20^{\circ}C$. The heat transfer coefficients of $CO_2$ are slightly increased with increasing mass flux, and the heat transfer characteristics in the inclined ($45^{\circ}$) tubes are enhanced about $5{\sim}10%$ compared with those in horizontal or vertical tubes.

  • Microfin arrays with fin heights of 100 ${\mu}$m and 200 ${\mu}$m and six different spacings from 30 ${\mu}m$to 360 ${\mu}m$ are fabricated using the DRIE process. Natural convective heat transfer around the microfin arrays on both vertical and horizontal surfaces is experimentally examined. It turns out that the orientation effect of microfin arrays is negligible compared with macrofin arrays. The obtained heat transfer coefficients are compared with the existing heat transfer correlation for the macrofin arrays. It is concluded that the existing macrocorrelation is no longer valid for the microfin arrays. Relevant empirical correlations for microfin arrays on the vertical and horizontal surfaces are presented based on the present experimental data.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel double gate vertical channel tunneling field effect transistor (DVTFET) with a dielectric sidewall and optimization characteristics. The dielectric sidewall is applied to the gate region to reduced ambipolar voltage ($V_{amb}$) and double gate structure is applied to improve on-current ($I_{ON}$) and subthreshold swing (SS). We discussed the fin width ($W_S$), body doping concentration, sidewall width ($W_{side}$), drain and gate underlap distance ($X_d$), source doping distance ($X_S$) and pocket doping length ($X_P$) of DVTFET. Each of device performance is investigated with various device parameter variations. To maximize device performance, we apply the optimum values obtained in the above discussion of a optimization simulation. The optimum results are steep SS of 32.6 mV/dec, high $I_{ON}$ of $1.2{\times}10^{-3}A/{\mu}m$ and low $V_{amb}$ of -2.0 V.

  • This paper did basic study on the vertical-axis wind turbine. Namely, This paper was try to find the optimum conditions by using the ANSYS CFX simulation program through the changes of the main-blade angle and sub-blade angle. Main-blade Shape #4 angle $45^{\circ}$ compared to others Shape angle $0^{\circ}$ was increased by 157.2[%] to 263.2[%] in the power output and was increased by 110[%] to 250[%] in the power coefficient. Also, when the Shape #5 Fin length of main-blade doubles, because the power output was 70.8[%] compared to Shape #1 and 27.5[%] compared to Shape #4, and the power coefficient was 60[%] compared to Shape #1 and 28.6[%] compared to Shape #4, the power output and the power efficiency were rather reduced. The output current of Shape #4 was increased 109.9[%] compared to Shape #1 and increased 250[%] compared to Shape #5, and The output voltage of Shape #4 was increased 22.5[%] compared to Shape #1 and increased 3.7[%] compared to Shape #4.

  • A thorny flathead fish, Rogadius asper Cuvier and Valenciennes of family Platycephalidae was collected for the first time in Pusan, Korea. The R. asper is closely similar to R. patriciae in exomorphological features but well distinguished from the following characters : a strong antrose spine of preopercle, 4 fine spines of serrations on the occipital. caudal fin with the dark vertical bands and first dorsal fin with black linear patterns. A new Korean name "Baneul-Yangtae" is proposed for the R. asper.

  • A new air-cooled waste heat removal system with a direct contact heat exchanger was designed for SMRs requiring 200 MW of waste heat removal. Conventional air-cooled systems use fin structure causing high thermal resistance; therefore, a large cooling tower is required. The new design replaces the fin structure with a vertical string type direct contact heat exchanger which has the most effective performance among tested heat exchangers in a previous study. The design results showed that the new system requires a cooling tower 50% smaller than that of the conventional system. However, droplet formation on a falling film along a string caused by Rayleigh-Plateau instability decreases heat removal performance of the new system. Analysis of Rayleigh-Plateau instability considering drag force on the falling film surface was developed. The analysis results showed that the instability can be prevented by providing thick string. The instability is prevented when the string radius exceeds the capillary length of liquid by a factor of 0.257 under stagnant air and 0.260 under 5 m/s air velocity.

  • The blenniid fish, Istiblennius dussumieri (Valenciennes) was reported on the basis of six specimens collected from rocky shores on the Yokonami Peninsula, Kochi Prefecture, southern Japan. This species was characterized by wavy, dusky stripes on its dorsal fin, 14 pectoral fin rays, 38 to 42 vertebrae, branched supraorbital cirrus, finger-like nasal cirrus, seven to ten vertical, dark bands on the body and canines absent on both jaws. Although the occurrence of this species may be due to larval transport by the Kuroshio Current, this is the first record of I. dussumieri from Japan represents a remarkable northern range extension of the species in the western Pacific Ocean.

  • This is the first report of Aprion virescens, belonging to the family Lutjanidae, collected in Korea. The specimen (151.4 mm in standard length) was caught by the gill net in the coastal waters of Jeju Island on 30 October, 2009. This species is characterized by having a deep vertical groove in front of eye, very short pectoral fin almost equal to snout length, and four black spots on dorsal fin. We propose a new Korean name, "Nok-saek-tung-dom-sok" and "Nok-saek-tung-dom" for the genus and species, respectively.
