The study of preference by emoticon types according to the gender of sender, emotion types of message and intimacy with the recipient

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate the preference by emoticon types according to the gender of sender, emotion types of message and intimacy with the recipient. Results show that women mostly prefer to use dynamic and imaged emoticon than men. However, the preference of using text messages increases when both men and women express uncomfortable emotion. Especially, when users send family messages, they tend to prefer for text message. And when users send close friends messages, the preference for dynamic and imaged emoticon is high. When users send distant friends messages, the similar tendency is shown regardless of emotion. These results can provide the information to use emoticon in the filed of education and take advantage in digital education and mobile education.

  • This paper is a study on the methodology of making customized contents according to user 's tendency through the development of learning contents utilizing IT. A variety of learners around the world use mobile devices and mobile learning contents to conduct their learning activities in various fields, and foreign language learning is one of the typical mobile learning areas. Foreign language learning contents suggested in this study is constructed based on the learner's verbal and text information in accordance with the user's vocal tendency. It is necessary to find out a suitable method to translate the user's native language text into the target language and make it into user friendly content.

Visual and Verbal Presentations of Haptic Information in Online Fashion Stores and Consumers' Imagery Information Processing

  • This study investigated how the visual and verbal presentation format of haptic information on apparel products in online stores affects consumers' imagery information processing. This includes the quantity and vividness of mental imagery, the ease of evoking mental imagery, and the evocation of imagination imagery. Additionally, the study explored consumer satisfaction with the information and online store. The study also tested a conceptual model to examine the effects of three imagery types on imagination imagery (as elaborated imagery) and how this imagination imagery affects consumer satisfaction. Employing a 2 × 3 × 2 between-subjects factorial design, twelve one-page websites were created for the experiment. 528 women in their 20s and 30s were randomly assigned to one of the 12 treatment conditions and answered the questionnaire. The results demonstrated significant differences in the three types of mental imagery, consumers' evocation of imagination imagery, and their satisfaction with information and online stores based on presentation format. The SEM analysis revealed that the quantity and vividness of mental imagery influenced the evocation of imagination imagery, affecting consumers' satisfaction with the information. These findings suggest that online retailers must provide close-up pictures or descriptive text of apparel products to elicit positive consumer responses.

A Cognitive Pragmatic Approach to Contextual Effects In Modern Korean Poetry (한국 현대시 텍스트의 맥락 효과에 관한 인지 화용론적 연구)

  • In this thesis we attempt to analyze modern Korean poetic texts in the franmeworks of text limgisitics and cognitive pragmatics. Both frameworks describe and explai human verbal communicantion in terms of congnitive information-processing procedures.By utilizing analytical devices provided by seven standards of textuality we can analyze any type of text,especially in terms of the cognitive operations underlying the production and reception processes.It is clamed in cognitive pragmatic framework that human ostensive inforential communication is regulated by the Principle of Relevance.We claim that the relevance-based framework of pragmatics provides evidence and rationale for those cognitive operations identified in the text linguistic framework. poetic texts involve every kind of cognitive strategies and processing procedures underlying human verbal communication.So,if modern Korean poetic texts are satisfactorily analyzed by text linguistics and cognitive pragmatics,it means that both frameworks are very useful tools for analyzing texts and that all the other text types which are less complicated than poetic text will also be analyzed by these frameworks. Researchers of poetry,and poets,are sensitive to poetic effects.They feel more of poeticity while reading poetic texts than ordinary readers do.However,these researchers or poets sometimes give different interpretation of a single poetic text.The interpretation of poetry cannot be anything,because poets write poems with particular intertions and do not just throw them out so as to be interpreted at ramdom.This thesis suggersts that the poeticity felt by the reader can be described and accounted for in a scientific way.In other words,text linguistics and cognitive pragmatics enable the researchers of poetry to become objective in interpreting poetic texts. It will be clearly shown that we have to see poetic texts from a cognitive perspective,since they are by-products of cognitive processing performed by discourse participants.

  • Printing advertisement is aggregate of commercial information communication text consisted of image sign and language sign. This means that verbal tabor through visual stimulation and character is mixed and passes information through picture. Typography is process that visualize verbal appeal in printing advertisement. Therefore study about typography is very important for a visual expression element in printing advertisement. Typography expression of Korean printing advertisement accomplished fast qualitative growth after 2000 flowing the 1990s. This study makes that typography expression propensity of Korean printing advertisement after 2000 of changed of expression structure, changed of expression rule, changed of expression method etc. Accordingly, extracted each three analysis bases. And this study presented expansive direction of typography expression of printing advertising in case studies.

The Effects of the Presentation Mode of Web Contents on the Children's Information Processing Process (웹 콘텐츠의 정보제시유형이 어린이 뉴스정보처리과정에 미치는 영향)

  • The major purpose of this study is to explore the effect of the presentation undo combined by main four media(moving Image, audio, turf image) of web contents on the children's information processing process. So children were assigned to one of five experimental medium conditions: 'moving Image1 (auditory-visual redundancy)', 'moving Image2 (auditory-visual dissonance)', 'text', 'text-with-image', 'audio'. Results indicated that the moving image was found to be the most effective transmitter of internet news information for children's recall. And the recall advantage of moving image was found to be particularly pronounced for verbal information supplemented with redundant visual.

An Efficient Correction Method for Misrecognized Words in Off-line Hangul Character Recognition (오프라인 한글 문자 인식을 위한 효율적인 오인식 단어 교정 방법)

  • In order to achieve high accuracy of off-line character recognition(OCR) systems, the recognized text must be processed through a post-processing stage using contextual information. In this paper, we reclassify Korean word classes in terms of OCR word correction. And we collect combinations of Korean particles(approximately 900) linguistic verbal from(around 800). We aggregate 9 Korean irregular verbal phrases defined from a Korean linguistic point of view. Using these Korean word information and a Head-tail method, we can correct misrecognized words. A Korean character recognizer demonstrates 93.7% correct character recognition without a post-processing stage. The entire recognition rate of our system with a post-processing stage exceeds 97% correct character recognition.

  • 자연스러운 상호작용이 가능한 인공지능 에이전트를 개발하기 위해서는 언어적 표현뿐 아니라, 비언어적 표현 또한 고려되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 한국어 발화문으로부터 비언어적 표현인 모션을 생성하는 연구를 소개한다. 유튜브 영상으로부터 데이터셋을 구축하고, Text to Motion의 기존 모델인 T2M-GPT와 이종 모달리티 데이터를 연계 학습한 VL-KE-T5의 언어 인코더를 활용하여 구현한 모델로 실험을 진행하였다. 실험 결과, 한국어 발화 텍스트에 대해 생성된 모션 표현은 FID 스코어 0.11의 성능으로 나타났으며, 한국어 발화 정보 기반 비언어 표현 정보 생성의 가능성을 보여주었다.

A Multi-level Representation of the Korean Narrative Text Processing and Construction-Integration Theory: Morpho- syntactic and Discourse-Pragmatic Effects of Verb Modality on Topic Continuity (한국어 서사 텍스트 처리의 다중 표상과 구성 통합 이론: 주제어 연속성에 대한 양태 어미의 형태 통사적, 담화 화용적 기능)

  • The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of discourse topic and morpho-syntactic verbal information on the resolution of null pronouns in the Korean narrative text within the framework of the construction-integration theory (Kintsch, 1988, Singer & Kintsch, 2001, Graesser, Gernsbacher, & Goldman. 2003). For the purpose of this paper, two conditions were designed: an explicit condition with both a consistently maintained discourse topic and the person-specific verb modals on one hand, and a neutral condition with no discourse topic or morpho-syntactic information provided, on the other. We measured the reading tines far the target sentence containing a null pronoun and the question response times for finding an antecedent, and the accuracy rates for finding an antecedent. During the experiments each passage was presented at a tine on a computer-controlled display. Each new sentence was presented on the screen at the moment the participant pressed the button on the computer keyboard. Main findings indicate that processing is facilitated by macro-structure (topicality) in conjunction with micro-structure (morpho-syntax) in pronoun interpretation. It is speculated that global processing alone may not be able to determine which potential antecedent is to be focused unless aided by lexical information. It is argued that the results largely support the resonance-based model, but not the minimalist hypothesis.

The Online Game Coined Profanity Filtering System by using Semi-Global Alignment (반 전역 정렬을 이용한 온라인 게임 변형 욕설 필터링 시스템)

  • Currently the verbal abuse in text message over on-line game is so serious. However we do not have any effective policy or technical tools yet. Till now in order to cope with this problem, the online game service providers have accumulated a set of forbidden words and applied this list on the textual word used in on-line game, which is called 'Swear filter'. But young on-line game players easily avoid this filtering method by coining another words which is not kept in the list. Especially Korean is very easy to make new variations of a vulgar word. In this paper, we propose one smart filtering algorithm to identify newly coined profanities. Important features of our method include the canonical form transformation of coined profanities, semi-global alignment between in the level of consonant and vowel units. For experiment, we have collected more than 1000 newly coined vulgar words in on-line gaming sites and tested these word against our methods. where our system have successfully filtered more than 90% of those newly coined vulgar words.
