A Study on the Success Factors of On-line Collaboration for Manufacturing Innovation Using AHP Analysis (AHP기법을 이용한 제조혁신을 위한 온라인 협업의 성공요인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study lies in enhancing an understanding of on-line collaboration among manufacturing companies for innovation. To meet this purpose, this study adopts Eisenhart(1989)'s case study approach to explore the success factors of on-line collaboration among Korean small-medium-sized manufacturing companies. Firstly, an exhaustive case study is conducted for four collaboration hubs in the Korean injection mold industry. This study identify the success factors through a structured questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews based on experts of K Institute, which performs the overall management of the collaboration hubs, and personnel of the participating businesses and vendors. Secondly, AHP analysis is conducted to identify the priorities among the success factors. Finally, several propositions of on-lin collaboration are derived.

A Contingency Fit Between Client IT Capability and Vendor Competence in IS Outsourcing Relationship

  • This study develops a contingency fit between client IT capability and vendor competence in IS outsourcing relationship by integrating both the contingency theory in organization and the relationship theory in IS outsourcing. By adopting a fit as a moderation, the relationship intensity of IS outsourcing is hypothesized to be influenced by the fit between client IT capability and vendor competence, thereby leading to the success of outsourcing. The testing data was obtained from 20 IS outsourcing projects from both clients and vendors in Korea. The research model proposed in this study was then tested using the structural equation model (SEM). As expected, the result shows that when there is a fit between client IT capability and vendor competence, higher level of relationship intensity and outsourcing success exhibits. The findings have significant impactions for further research and practice.

  • To survive in rapidly changing business environment, the enterprises of all over the world are trying to integrate their IT infra structure and are trying to automate their business process. Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is being accepted as an IT standard to support efficient system integration and flexible business process automation between enterprises or departments. The material control system is required this software architecture between manufacturing company and materials supply vendors. This paper introduces concept of SOA, relevant technology about SOA such as Web Services and Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and describes how to automate materials control process by designing the material control system based on SOA. The analysis of requirements is proceeded by Unified Modeling Language (UML) and SOA delivery strategy is selected the top-down strategy. And this paper describes how to derive services and operations and how to arrange services in three service layers and how to design business process.

  • In this study, the factors of reading readiness were investigated theoretically and the web-based measurement systems for reading readiness that were developed and operated by the experts or the commercial vendors were examined. On the basis of the results examined, the web-based comprehensive measurement system for reading readiness was proposed. It‘s expected that this study will give libraries with such systems a chance to evaluate their systems and will do much for libraries’ ability to plan their desired system.

  • This paper discusses a most suitable wireless communications system for subway trains on condition that a geo-spatial video system is implemented in subway trains. Geo-spatial video system for subway trains refers to the device that can transfers the images captured by cameras within a subway station building or in and around a subway track to on coming trains wirelessly, which allows the operator in operating room to monitor the state of a platform and a subway track, the flow of passengers, and the condition of passengers getting on and off. To minimize the problem, secure civil safety and prevent accidents and calamity from occurring, a geo-spatial video system for subway trains has been increasingly introduced. The wireless communications systems for GVS for subway trains involve HF(High Frequency), IR(Infra Red), M/W(Micro Wave), wireless LAN approaches. Each has its own strengths/weaknesses, and different vendors have different technology.

  • In order to verify a substation automation system based on IEC 61850, Korea Electric Power Research Institute under the project related to SAS has constructed IED testing system, which consists of HMI, IED(Intelligent Electronic Device), network equipment, V/I generator, and performed a various of communication tests such as the interoperability test between two IEDs made by other vendors. The test was proceeded based on SCL(Substation Configuration Description Language). This paper presents ways and procedures to simulate those tests and solutions to clear up SCL based engineering problems and compatibility among the individual manufacture tools.

  • Nowadays, a large number of Executive Information Systems (EIS) have been developed around the world, most of them are in the United States. These systems were mainly for senior executives to monitor the current status and to find out possible opportunities/problems of their organizations. They also provide a number of capabilities such as drill-down, exception reporting, and trend analysis on hard and soft data from both internal and external sources. The purpose of this study is to see where the current status of the use of EIS in Korea and the Korean EIS industry are. The survey result is valuable to Korean EIS developers - both in-house developers and outside vendors. They can develop appropriate EISs based on the findings.

  • The rapid diffusion of the Internet and the World Wide Web is facilitating greater interaction - and potential opportunities for customization - between vendors and customers. For instance, virtual reality and multimedia technologies allow consumers to envision their designed products. The increasing pace of the business environment highlights the need to deploy intelligent systems in all stages of product design and production planning. This paper deals with a system to generate an appropriate product design by adapting customer preferences and constraints using the case based reasoning methodology. Moreover, intelligent agents are integrated with virtual reality technology to provide a friendly user interface.

  • Substation automation is one of the key issues for the enhancement of the power industrial foundation. IEC 60850 is an international standard specifying communication network and systems in substation. It supports interchangeability and interoperability of equipments from different vendors. ACSI(Abstract communication service interface) specifies basic communication structure for substation and IEDs. It supports communication as well as various services without proper protocols. For actual communication, MMS(Manufacturing Message Specification : ISO 9506) is used to map ACSI services. Solutions for the development of communication driver based don IEC 61850 are proposed in this paper.
