A smart panel with structural sensors and actuators for minimizing noise radiation or transmission is described in the paper with the concept of active structural acoustical control. The sensors and actuators are both quadratically shaped piezoelectric polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF) Polymer films to implement a volume velocity sensor and uniform force actuator respectively. They are collocated on either side of the panel to take advantage of direct velocity feedback(DVFB) strategy, which can guarantee a robust stability and high performance as long as the sensor-actuator response is strictly positive real(SPR). However, the measured sensor-actuator response of the panel showed unexpected result with non-SPR property. In the paper, the reason of the non-SPR property is investigated by theoretical analysis, computer simulation and experimental verification. The investigation reveals that the arrangement of collocated piezoelectric PVDF sensor and actuator pair on a panel is not relevant to get a high feedback gain and good performance with DVFB strategy.

We report on a diode-laser-pumped mode-locked Yb:KGW laser system, which delivers ultrashort pulses down to 89 fs at a repetition rate of 63 MHz, with an average power of up to 5.6 W. A fiber-coupled diode laser at 981 nm, operated with a compact driver, is used to optically pump the gain crystal via an off-axis parabolic mirror. A semiconductor saturable-absorber mirror is used to initiate the pulsed operation. Laser characteristics such as the pulse duration, spectrum bandwidth, and output power are investigated by varying the intracavity dispersions via changing the number of bounces between negative-dispersive mirrors within the cavity. Short pulses with a duration of 89 fs, a center wavelength of 1,027 nm, and 3.6 W of output power are produced at a group-velocity dispersion (GVD) of -3,300 fs2. As the negative GVD increases, the pulse duration lengthens but the output power at the single-pulse condition can be enhanced, reaching 5.6 W at a GVD of -6,600 fs2. Because of pulse broadening at high negative GVDs, the highest peak intensity is achievable at a moderate GVD with our system.
In this paper, we propose a new longitudinal controller of automated vehicles. The controller is designed based on a sliding control method, which is known to be robust to disturbances and modelling errors. Contrary to currently available sliding controller, a switching controller gain method is suggested. It is shown throughout simulations that the proposed controller reduces the amount of overshoot, which may derive smoother velocity tracking in a platoon.
As utility pollution take a growing interest, ac/dc converter optimizing utility condition has been vigorously studied in decades. In this paper three phase DCM converter is analyzed and equations for average input currents are presented. Also relationships of voltage gain & duty according to angular velocity are presented and variable frequency controller is implemented using reset integrator which is designed in detail. In result power factor and THD characteristics of 3-stage and 4-stage operation ae compared respectively.
A sampled data controller for the quadruped walking robot is presented. To provide systematic design procedure, the relation between PI gain of velocity controller and sampling rate is analyzed with the ISE performance index and the time responses. The position controller for one-leg, 3-axis, was developed under consideration of compactness and expendability. And several experiments were performed.

The position error in multi-axis machine tools are due to many elements, such as the static friction, servo lag, a nonlinear disturbance, the gain mismatch between multi-axis controllers. In the work, modeling for the plant was carried out through the velocity response by the step input signal. Digital PI controllers, LQ optimal controllers and feedforward controllers are designed for a high tracking performance based on the model. The results of experimentation showed that the controllers worked properly.
A singular pertubation theory is applied to obtain an approximate solution for suboptimal control of nuclear reactors with spatially distributed parameters. The inverse of the neutron velocity is regarded as a small perturbing parameter, and the model, adopted for simplicity, is a cylindrically symmetrical reactor whose dynamics are described by the one group diffusion equation with one delayed neutron group. The Helmholtz mode expansion is used for the application of the optimal theory for lumped parameter systems to the spatially distributed parameter systems. An asymptotic expansion of the feedback gain matrix is obtained with construction of the boundary layer correction up to the first order.
In this paper the IMM(Interacting Multiple model) algorithm using the MGEKF(Modified Gain Extended Kalman Filter) which modes are variances of the process noises is proposed to enhance the performance of maneuvering target tracking with bearing and frequency measurements. The state are composed of relative position, relative velocity, relative acceleration and doppler frequency. The mode probability is calculated from the bearing and frequency measurements. The proposed algorithm is tested a series of computer simulation runs.
In this paper, we present the performances of a Doppler system using single channel RF(Radio Frequency) sampling. This technique consists of undersampling the ultrasonic blood backscattered RF signal on a single channel. Conventional undersampling method in Doppler imaging system have to use a minimum of two identical parallel demodulation channels to reconstruct the multigate analytic Doppler signal. However, this system suffers from hardware complexity and problem of unbalance(gain and phase) between the channels. In order to reduce these problems, we have realized a multigate pulsed Doppler system using undersampling on a single channel, It requires sampling frequency at $4f_o$(where $f_o$ is the center frequency of the transducer) and 12bits A/D converter. The proposed " single-Channel RF Sampling" method aims to decrease the required sampling frequency proportionally to $4f_o$/(2k+1). To show the influence of the factor k on the measurements, we have compared the velocity profiles obtained in vitro and in vivo for different intersequence delays time (k=0 to 10). We have used a 4MHz center frequency transducer and a Phantom Doppler system with a laminar stationary flow. The axial and volumetric velocity profiles in the vessel have been computed according to factor k and have been compared. The influence of the angle between the ultrasonic beam and the flow axis direction, and the fluid viscosity on the velocity profiles obtained for different values of k factor is presented. For experiment in vivo on the carotid, we have used a data acquisition system with a sampling frequency of 20MHz and a dynamic range of 12bits. We have compared the axial velocity profiles in systole and diastole phase obtained for single channel RF sampling factor.ng factor.

In this study, the experimental test results are given to confirm the control efficiency of the linear control algorithm used for designing the active mass dampers(AMD) which are supposed to be installed at Incheon international airport control tower. The comparison between the results from test and numerical analysis is conducted and it was observed that the AMD showed the control performance expected by the numerical model. The effects of the gain scheduling and constant-velocity signal added to the control signal calculated by the algorithm is identified through the observation that the AMD always show behavior within the given stroke limit without any loss of the desired control performance. The phase difference between the accelerations of the structure and the AMD were almost close to 90 degree, which implies that the AMD absorbed the structural energy effectively.
