저속 전기자동차용 알루미늄 차체 조인트 노드의 반응고 성형 (Fabrication of a Joint Node for an Aluminum Frame for a Low Speed Electric Vehicle using Thixoforming Technology)

  • The thixoforming process has been applied to forming of a joint node for the aluminum frame of a low speed electric vehicle. A joint node should connect three aluminum extruded chassis showing different profiles. The MHS(magnetohydrodynamic stirring) A357 billet was selected because homogeneous globular grains are necessary as the billet materials for thixoforming. A careful design of joint node has been performed by the considerations of structural demands and the simulation results for the thixoforming process using the MAGMAsoft. Optimum heating temperature for the A357 billet was between 580 and $585^{\circ}C$ corresponding to the semi-solid temperatures showing 20-30% of liquid fraction. An injection speed of around 100mm/s and preheating of die at temperatures of $200^{\circ}C$ were also necessary conditions to obtain reasonable thixoformed parts.

  • The important issue for intra-city vehicle scheduling is to measure and store actual vehicle travel speeds between customer locations. Travel speeds(and times) in nearly all metropolitan areas change drastically during the day because of congestion in certain parts of the city road network. We propose three models for estimating departure time-dependent travel speeds between locations that relieve much burden for the data collection and computer storage requirements. Two of the three models use a least squares method and the rest one employs a neural network trained with the back-propagation rule. On a real-world study using the travel speed data collected in Seoul, we found out that the neural network model is more accurate than the other two models.

핫스탬핑에 의한 자동차 도어 임팩트빔의 개발 (Development of Vehicle Door Impact Beam by Hot Stamping)

  • A hot stamping technology of vehicle door impact beam made of thin sheet steel has been developed, with the aim of ensuring occupant safety in a side collision. This technology has been implemented to increase the strength of vehicle body parts and to reduce not only the weight of door impact beam but also the number of work processes. Mechanical tests were performed to obtain material properties of hot-stamped specimen and those were used as input data in stamping and structural simulation for optimal design of door impact beam. Strength of hot-stamped door impact beam increased to the value 102% higher than that of conventional pipe-shaped door impact beam and structural simulation showed that hot-stamped door impact beam achieved 28% weight reduction.

  • The vehicle's light-weight technology is divided into optimization of structure geometric and material. Structure geometric optimization and improvement of materials has examined to be power-train and maintenance on the severe condition. The core technology of Special vehicle's light-weight is constitute by Drop box, Axle and Final reduction gear. Technology and product of the parts is high to overseas and import dependency. We will want to examine the possibility of light-weight for the Axle Case and Drop box-connections. In this research, conventional design of excess weight will inhibit the mobility and fuel efficiency. Through the improvement of Axle material, we saw the possibility reducing weight. If you use the results of these studies, it will be available to domestic production technology and reducing weight of RV car, Dump truck, Track crain, etc.

Segmentation and Recognition of Korean Vehicle License Plate Characters Based on the Global Threshold Method and the Cross-Correlation Matching Algorithm

  • The vehicle license plate recognition (VLPR) system analyzes and monitors the speed of vehicles, theft of vehicles, the violation of traffic rules, illegal parking, etc., on the motorway. The VLPR consists of three major parts: license plate detection (LPD), license plate character segmentation (LPCS), and license plate character recognition (LPCR). This paper presents an efficient method for the LPCS and LPCR of Korean vehicle license plates (LPs). LP tilt adjustment is a very important process in LPCS. Radon transformation is used to correct the tilt adjustment of LP. The global threshold segmentation method is used for segmented LP characters from two different types of Korean LPs, which are a single row LP (SRLP) and double row LP (DRLP). The cross-correlation matching method is used for LPCR. Our experimental results show that the proposed methods for LPCS and LPCR can be easily implemented, and they achieved 99.35% and 99.85% segmentation and recognition accuracy rates, respectively for Korean LPs.

  • The aim of this paper is to design a two degree-of-freedom H$_{\infty}$ controller for lateral control of the vehicle. The object of this controller is to track the centerline of the reference lane. The controller is splited into two parts, feedback and prefilter. The feedback part is for both robust stability and disturbance attenuation, while the prefilter is for improving the robust tracking properties of closed loop system.   • Recently, the market has been released a lot of excellent NVH performance cars such as hybrid, electric and luxury cars. Therefore, the consumer is a tendency of many sensitive of the noise inside the vehicle than in the past. In order to match the propensity of such consumers, the automotive industry defines the standard of product related to noise generation of a single product. However, it is difficult to reduce the noise of the product to automobile part suppliers to follow these standards. In this paper, we propose a method for evaluating several necessary in order to find a way to reduce the noise.

NURBS곡선을 이용한 수중운동체의 선형정의 (Hull Form Definition of Underwater Vehicle using NURBS Curve)

  • 본 연구는 수중운동체의 선형을 수치적으로 표현하고 변형하는 기법을 내용으로 한다. 즉, 주요치수-전체길이, 중앙평행부의 길이, entrance 및 run부분을 정의하는 계수(이하 entrance 및 run계수라 한다.)등-를 주어진 설계조건으로 하여 실린더형 수중운동체를 생성하고, 이것을 NURBS(Nonuniform rational B-spline)곡선으로 표현한다. 또한 선형의 각 단면은 사용자 Interface를 통해 변화되고, 얻어진 수중운동체의 Offset과 횡단면적 곡선(Sectional Area Curve:SAC)을 도출한다.

자동차 배터리 지지 구조의 진동 피로 해석에 대한 연구 (Study on Vibration Fatigue Analysis of Automotive Battery Supporter)

  • In this paper, the vibration load and analysis results for automotive battery supporter were performed to provide efficient vibration tolerance performance prediction methods for single-product vibration tolerance testing, and the major influencing factors and considerations for setting up single-unit vibration tolerance tests were reviewed. A common applicable standard load was applied to efficiently predict the performance of single-unit vibrations through the frequency response analysis technique. The results similar to test results can be predicted by checking vulnerable parts of the vehicle components for vibration loads and applying scale factor to standard loads. In addition, it was confirmed that the test conditions with a frequency generating the same durability severity as the endurance test are needed for accurate prediction of the durability of the single-unit vibration tolerance test conditions, and the acceleration and frequency with the conditions that there is no significant nonlinear phenomena in the vibration system are established during the single-unit vibration tolerance test conditions.

  • In this paper, the performance design and analysis for an Interior Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) that will be used as a traction motor in the e-4WD system of hybrid SUV(Sports Utility Vehicle) and RV(Recreational Vehicle), are investigated using finite element method. In order to improve the accuracy of design, the tolerances of parts and assemblies as well as the material properties of permanent magnet, stator, rotor and winding etc. are considered under the conditions similar to real driving state of motor. Both no load performance test and maximum load performance test, in which real driving state and cooling condition have been considered, are also implemented via proto sample build to verify the validity of motor's performance design.
