In this research a theoretical and numerical study on a bridge damage detection procedure is presented based on vibration measurements collected from a set of accelerometers. This method, referred to as "Adjoint Variable Method", is a sensitivity-based finite element model updating method. The approach relies on minimizing a penalty function, which usually consists of the errors between the measured quantities and the corresponding predictions attained from the model. Moving mass is an interactive model and includes inertia effects between the model and mass. This interactive model is a time varying system and the proposed method is capable of detecting damage in this variable system. Robustness of the proposed method is illustrated by correct detection of the location and extension of predetermined single, multiple and random damages in all ranges of speed and mass ratio of moving vehicle. A comparative study on common sensitivity and the proposed method confirms its efficiency and performance improvement in sensitivity-based damage detection methods. In addition various possible sources of error, including the effects of measurement noise and initial assumption error in stability of method are also discussed.
A new technique is proposed for bridge structural damage detection based on spatial wavelet analysis of the time history obtained from vehicle body moving over the bridge, which is different from traditional detection techniques based on the bridge response. A simply-supported Bernoulli-Euler beam subjected to a moving spring-mass unit is established, with the crack in the beam simulated by modeling the cracked section as a rotational spring connecting two undamaged beam segments, and the equations of motion for the system is derived. By using the transfer matrix method, the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the cracked beam are determined. The responses of the beam and the moving spring-mass unit are obtained by modal decomposition theory. The continuous wavelet transform is calculated on the displacement time histories of the sprung-mass. The case study result shows that the damage location can be accurately determined and the method is effective.

Cable systems are a construction of elements carrying only tension and no compression or bending in membrane structure. Tensile membrane structures are most often used as roofs as they can economically and attractively span large distances. But cable systems have weaknesses to vibration by earthquake, wind and vehicle loads. Damage detection of cable systems by using existing safety diagnosis is difficult to detect the characteristic change of overall structural action. If cable snaps are occurred to cable release and tear in tension structures, these are set up a vibration. So, we used piezo-electric materials, and The principle of operation of a piezoelectric sensor is that a physical dimension, transformed into a force, acts on two opposing faces of the sensing element. In this study, the development on test method of cable system is proposed and tested by tensile strength using piezo-electric materials.

The vehicle system is exposed to random source in service. Therefore, it is important to consider dynamic effect of the system. But, fatigue analysis is traditionally performed by using time signal of loading. To obtain dynamic effect of resonance, we carried out resonance durability analysis with frequency response and the dynamic load on frequency domain. The study shows that the damage considering resonant frequency of fuel tank system can be effectively estimated.
It is necessary to establish a system suitable for the driving vehicle so that it can effectively search for and modify various data anywhere and anytime by effectively linking communication with the computer system in the running vehicle and to control the equipment properly for smooth operation on a limited platform do. Also, vehicle CAN communication is used to extract system engine information, and data is transmitted using ZigBee for this information transmission. Therefore, OBD-II protocol, which is provided by the vehicle itself, is used for vehicle CAN to obtain vehicle status information and exhaust gas using various sensor information of the vehicle and O2 sensor value, and transmits it to the ZigBee main control system. In this study, we implemented a system that can reduce the battery load damage to the maximum by reducing the power consumption to the maximum, and to monitor the internal state of the vehicle through ZigBee communication with the embedded system for low power vehicles.
This study investigated the performance of a steel column standing on a reinforced concrete footing when it was subjected to collision of an eight-ton single unit truck. Finite element analyses of the structure with different connection schemes were performed using the finite element model of the truck, and the results showed that the behavior of the column subjected to the automobile impact depended largely on the column-footing connection detail. Various reinforcement schemes were investigated to mitigate the damage caused by the car impact. The probability of the model reinforced with a certain scheme to reach a given limit state was obtained by fragility analysis, and the effects of the combined reinforcement methods were investigated based on the equivalent fragility scheme. The analysis results showed that the reinforcement schemes such as increase of the pedestal area, decrease of the pedestal height, and the steel plate jacketing of the pedestal were effective in reducing the damage. As the speed of the automobile increased the contribution of the increase in the number of the anchor bolts and the dowel bars became more important to prevent crushing of the pedestal.
The fabric braided braking hose that delivers the driver's braking force to brake cylinder undergoes the large deformation cyclic motion according to the steering and bump/rebound motions of vehicle. The cyclic large deformation of braking hose may give rise to two critical problems: the interference with other adjacent vehicle parts and the micro cracking stemming from the fatigue damage accumulation. Hence, both the hose deformation and the fatigue damage become the critical issue in the design of braking hose. In this context, this paper introduces a multi-objective optimization method for minimizing the both quantities. The total length of hose and the helix angles of fabric braided composite layers are chosen for the design variables, and the maximum hose deformation and the critical fatigue life cycle are defined by the individual single objective functions. The trade-off between two single objective functions is made by introducing the weighting factors. The proposed optimization method is validated and the improvement of initial hose design is examined through the benchmark simulation. Furthermore, the dependence of optimum solutions on the weighting factors is also investigated.
Suspension system of vehicle have enough endurance during its life time to protect passenger. Spring is one of major part of vehicle. Thus, a fatigue strength evaluation for leaf spring based on road load response was carried out. At first, strain of leaf spring is measured on the city condition and proving ground condition. And next, the damage analysis of road load response data was carried out. And fatigue test of leaf spring were also carried out. Based on -N life relation, fatigue life of leaf spring was evaluated at belgian mode, city mode and drawing test specification. After that, it is compared the design life of leaf spring and evaluated fatigue life by belgian mode, city mode and drawing test specification. From the above, the maximum load-fatigue life relation of leaf spring was defined by test. and new test target of belgian mode and city mode was proposed to accept design specification of leaf spring. It is expect that proposed test target can verify leaf spring fatigue endurance at specific road condition.

Transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) for blunt hepatic injury in children is not common and is especially rare after damage control surgery (DCS). We report a successful TAE after DCS on a child for massive bleeding from the left hepatic artery due to a motor vehicle accident. The car (a sport utility vehicle) ran over the chest and abdomen of a 4-year-old boy. On arrival, initial vital signs were as follows: blood pressure, 70/40 mmHg; heart rate, 149/min; temperature, $36.7^{\circ}C$; respiratory rate, 38/min. After resuscitation, computed tomography was done, and a suspicious contrast leakage from a branch of the left hepatic artery and a spleen injury (grade V) were found. TAE was performed successfully after DCS for a liver injury.

The main goal of this paper is to assess application of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) remote sensing and GIS based images in detection and measuring of rice field drought area in South Korea. Drought is recurring feature of the climatic events, which often hit South Korea, bringing significant water shortages, local economic losses and adverse social consequences. This paper describes the assesment of the near-realtime drought damage monitoring and reporting system for the agricultural drought region. The system is being developed using drought-related vegetation characteristics, which are derived from UAV remote sensing data. The study area is $3.07km^2$ of Wonbuk-myeon, Taean-gun, Chungnam in South Korea. UAV images were acquired three times from July 4 to October 29, 2015. Three images of the same test site have been analysed by object-based image classification technique. Drought damaged paddy rices reached $754,362m^2$, which is 47.1 %. The NongHyeop Agricultural Damage Insurance accepted agricultural land of 4.6 % ($34,932m^2$). For paddy rices by UAV investigation, the drought monitoring and crop productivity was effective in improving drought assessment method.
