  • We show that when a max-cut problem is allowed native-weight edges, to decide if the problem has a cut of a positive weight is NP-hard. This implies that there is no polynomial time algorithm which guarantees a cut whose objective value is no less than $1/p(<I>)$ times the optimum for any polynomially computable polynomial p, where denotes the encoding length of an instance I.

  • The approach presented in this paper is based on the transformation of the Stefan problem in one space dimension to an initial-boundary value problem for the heat equation in a fixed domain. Of course, the problem is non-linear. The finite element approximation adopted here is the standared continuous Galerkin method in time. In this paper, only the regular case is discussed. This means the error analysis is based on the assumption that the solution is sufficiently smooth. The aim of this paper is the existence of the solution in a finite Galerkin system of ordinary equations.

  • In this paper, a class of initial value problem of hyperbolic equations for fourth order with multiple characteristics is considered and can be solved analytically by variable transforms. Also, similar to Goursat's problem we present a direct integration technique for finding a new solutions of an inhomogeneous hyperbolic equation of fourth order such that the attached conditions are given on its multiple characteristics.

  • We consider the problem that how must the production of certain item vary as a function of time, if for known losses due to depreciation the total amount of the product is to have a constant value. The integral equation associated with the problem is solved by an appeal to the convolution quotients. The production function comes out to be an expression containing the generalized Laguerre polynomials. The loss function and the production function are tabulated for different values of the parameter by using an IBM 370/145 computer.

  • Two principally different statements of the problem of stable numerical differentiation are considered. It is analyzed when it is possible in principle to get a stable approximation to the derivative ${\Large f}'$ given noisy data ${\Large f}_{\delta}$. Computational aspects of the problem are discussed and illustrated by examples. These examples show the practical value of the new understanding of the problem of stable differentiation.

  • In this note, we extends some of the results of Liu [Fuzzy Sets and systems 157 (2006) 869-878]. This extension consists of a simple proof involving weighted functions and their preference index. We also give an elementary simple proof of the maximum entropy weighting function problem with a given preference index value without using any advanced theory like variational principles or without using Lagrangian multiplier methods.

  • This paper presents solving the Sudoku puzzle as a constraint satisfaction problem (CSP). After introducing the rules and characteristics of the puzzle, we formulate the puzzle as a CSP and develop various methods of solving the problem. Blind search, minimum remaining value (MRV) heuristic, and some advanced methods are investigated, and their algorithms are implemented in this undergraduate project. The performance comparisons of these methods are discussed in the paper.

  • In this paper, we prove the existence of nonconstant bounded harmonic maps on a Cartan-Hadamard manifold of pinched negative curvature by solving the asymptotic Dirichlet problem. To be precise, given any continuous data f on the boundary at infinity with image within a ball in the normal range, we prove that there exists a unique harmonic map from the manifold into the ball with boundary value f.

  • Recently, Control method of induction Motor is applied in full circuit model, as circular diagram. In Elevetor moderization problem, there is no circuit information. Nothing but, Motor terminal voltage and HP of motor. So, in this study, using KS induction Motor table, try to solve initial valve problem and make some implementations of manual tuning for use of automatic tuning of induction motor parameter.
