Improved Vector Error Diffusion for Reduction of Smear Artifact in the Boundary Regions (경계 영역에서의 색번짐 현상을 줄이기 위한 향상된 벡터 오차 확산법)

  • This paper proposes a vector error diffusion method for smear artifact reduction in the boundary region. This artifact mainly results from a large accumulation of quantization errors. In particular, color bands with a smear artifact, the width of a few pixels appear along the edges. Accordingly, to reduce this artifact, the proposed halftoning process excludes the large accumulated Quantization error by comparing the vector norms and vector angles between the error-corrected vector and eight primary color patches. When the vector norm of the error corrected vector is larger than those of eight primary color patches, the quantization error vector is excluded from the quantization error distribution process. In addition, the quantization error is also excluded when the angle between eight primary color patches and error corrected vector is large. As a result, the proposed method enables a visually pleasing halftone pattern to be generated by all three color separations into account in a device- independent color space and reduces smear artifact in the boundary regions.

  • This paper presents a vector network analysis system for 2-port scattering parameters of microwave devices using some basic microwave instruments/devices such as signal generators, vector voltmeter, directional couplers and frequency mixers. The analytical model and implementation method for scattering parameter measurements - which can replace the vector network analyzers - are presented. The performance of the implemented system is evaluated through 1- and 2-port scattering parameter measurements, respectively. The vector volt signals which determine the scattering parameters are detected in two distinct methods depending on the frequency band of interests; a direct-detection method with a single signal generator and vector voltmeter for relatively low band and a heterodyne method to frequency down-mix associated with an additional signal source as well as frequency mixers for high band are used, respectively. Using these two methods, scattering parameters of UHF and X bands are evaluated and their performances are verified through a comercial vector network analyzer.

History Management Technology of Building Construction and Maintenance Using Vector Photo Information and BIM (벡터사진 정보와 BIM을 활용한 건축물의 시공·유지관리 이력관리기술)

  • Recently proposed intelligent images are generating, storing and managing along with existing image information and 5W1H information. Therefore, these vector images can be useful in searching and managing photos taking during building construction and maintenance processes. In addition, when the vector photos, a key to the intelligent image, is linked with BIM, it is possible to find BIM objects by utilizing information included in vector photos. And if the taken vector photo is saved as attributes of the extracted object, the vector photo can be managed as the historical data. Furthermore, this new technology will contribute to make the management of construction information more efficiently. This study is about the development of the technology of extracting BIM objects from vector photo information and managing the attributes of the extracted objects. Also the prototype modules was developed and tested to evaluate the processes of setting reference points, converting coordinate system, calculating positions, and so on. Through these processes, it was confirmed that the possibility of extracting BIM objects from vector photos and of managing attribute data of objects.

Vector at Risk and alternative Value at Risk (Vector at Risk와 대안적인 VaR)

  • The most useful method for financial market risk management may be Value at Risk (VaR) which estimates the maximum loss amount statistically. The VaR is used as a risk measure for one industry. Many real cases estimate VaRs for many industries or nationwide industries; consequently, it is necessary to estimate the VaR for multivariate distributions when a specific portfolio is established. In this paper, the multivariate quantile vector is proposed to estimate VaR for multivariate distribution, and the Vector at Risk for multivariate space is defined based on the quantile vector. When a weight vector for a specific portfolio is given, one point among Vector at Risk could be found as the best VaR which is called as an alternative VaR. The alternative VaR proposed in this work is compared with the VaR of Morgan with bivariate and trivariate examples; in addition, some properties of the alternative VaR are also explored.

  • Personal credit scoring is an effective tool for banks to properly guide decision profitably on granting loans. Recently, many classification algorithms and models are used in personal credit scoring. Personal credit scoring technology is usually divided into statistical method and non-statistical method. Statistical method includes linear regression, discriminate analysis, logistic regression, and decision tree, etc. Non-statistical method includes linear programming, neural network, genetic algorithm and support vector machine, etc. But for the development of the credit scoring model, there is no consistent conclusion to be drawn regarding which method is the best. In this paper, we will compare the performance of the most common scoring techniques such as logistic regression, neural network, and support vector machines using personal credit data of the financial institution in China. Specifically, we build three models respectively, classify the customers and compare analysis results. According to the results, support vector machine has better performance than logistic regression and neural networks.

Infestation and Related Ecology of Chigger Mites on the Asian House Rat (Rattus tanezumi) in Yunnan Province, Southwest China

  • This paper is to illustrate the infestation and related ecological characteristics of chigger mites on the Asian house rat (Rattus tanezumi). A total of 17,221 chigger mites were collected from 2,761 R. tanezumi rats, and then identified as 131 species and 19 genera in 2 families. Leptotrombidium deliense, the most powerful vector of scrub typhus in China, was the first major dominant species on R. tanezumi. All the dominant mite species were of an aggregated distribution among different individuals of R. tanezumi. The species composition and infestations of chiggers on R. tanezumi varied along different geographical regions, habitats and altitudes. The species-abundance distribution of the chigger mite community was successfully fitted and the theoretical curve equation was ${\hat{S}}(R)={37e^{-(0.28R)}}^2$. The total chigger species on R. tanezumi were estimated to be 199 species or 234 species, and this further suggested that R. tanezumi has a great potential to harbor abundant species of chigger mites. The results of the species-plot relationship indicated that the chig-ger mite community on R. tanezumi in Yunnan was an uneven community with very high heterogeneity. Wide geographi-cal regions with large host samples are recommended in the investigations of chigger mites.

  • With the study for identifying the transmission characteristics of vibration and noise generated by operating engine system of a vehicle, recently many engineers have studied actively the reduction of vibration and noise inducing uncomfortableness to the passenger. In this study, output noise was analyzed by multi-dimensional spectral analysis and vector synthesis method. The multi-dimensional analysis method is very effective in case of identification of primary source, but this method has little effect on suggestion for interior noised reduction. For compensation of this, vector synthesis method was used to obtain effective method for interior noise reduction, after identifying primary source for output noise. In this paper, partial coherence function of each input was calculated to know which input was most coherent to output noise, then with simulation of changes for input magnitude and phase by vector synthesis diagram, the trends of synthesized output vector was obtained. As a result, the change of synthesized output vector could be estimated.

Construction of a Bioluminescent Labelling Plasmid Vector for Bifidobacteria

  • Bifidobacterium is recognized as one of the most beneficial microorganisms in our gut. Many researches on bifidobacteria have been done to understand their roles in the gut. The objective of the present study was to develop a bioluminescent labelling plasmid vector for bifidobacteria to facilitate their visualization in vitro, in situ, and in vivo. A plasmid replicon (2.0 kb) of plasmid pFI2576 previously identified from B. longum FI10564 was amplified by PCR and cloned into pUC19 plasmid vector (2.68 kb). The cloned replicon was subcloned into pTG262 ($luc^+$) recombinant plasmid vector (7.4 kb) where a luciferase gene ($luc^+$) from pLuc2 (8.5 kb), an Escherichia coli and lactobacilli shuttle vector, was inserted into pTG262 plasmid vector. The final recombinant DNA, pTG262::pFI2576 rep ($luc^+$), was transferred into a B. catenulatum strain. This recombinant strain showed 3,024 relative luminescence units at $OD_{600}$ value of 0.352. Thus, this recombinant plasmid construct can be broadly used for labelling bifidobacteria.

  • Retrovirus는 DNA가 아닌 RNA를 유전 물질로 갖고 있는 동물 virus인데 각 virus는 RNA와 함께 크게 gag, pol. 그리고 env 등의 3가지 단백질로 구성되어 있다. gag 단백질은 virus의 내부구조를 형성하는 단백질이고, pol단백질은 감염을 통해 표적 세포에 도입된 retrovirus의 RNA를 DNA로 역전사시키는 reverse transcriptase의 역할을 하며, env단백질은 virusdml 외부를 구성하는 단백질로써 이 단백질에 의해 각 retrovirus의 종류에 따른 감염이 가능한 표적세포의 종류가 결정된다(host cell specificity). 따라서 어떤 retrovirus의 envelope단백질과 표식세포에 있는 retrovirus의 envelope 단백질에 대한 특정 receptor와의 상호 작용에 의해 세포속으로 도입된 virus의 RNA는 reverse transcriptase에 의해 DNA로 역전사된 후 표적세포의 genomic DNA에 삽입되는 특징을 가진다. 이러한 특징을 가진 retrovirus vector system은 형질 전환 동물의 생산에 있어서 현재까지의 주된 방법인 수정란의 pronucleus에의 DNA microinjection방법 보다 여러 가지 면에서 우수함에도 불구하고 쥐 이외의 다른 동물에서는 거의 이용되고 있지 않는 실정이다. 주된 원인으로는 현재 사용되고 있는 대부분의 retrovirus vector system이 쥐의 백혈병 virus를 근간으로 하기 때문에 이 system에서 생산된 virus는 쥐 이외의 다른 동물, 특히 유제류의 세포에는감염성이 아주 약하기 때문이다. 이러한 결점을 해결하기 위하여 최근에 기존의 쥐 백혈병 virus의 envelope protein을 vesicular stomatitis virus의 G protein으로 대체한 hybrid retrovirus vector system이 개발되었다. 이러한 system에서 생산되는 virus는 조류를 포함한 거의 모든 종류의 동물세포를 감염시킬 수 있으며 몇몇 특정세포에 대해서는 기존의 retrovirus vector system에 비해 1,000배 이상의 높은 감염도를 나타내는데 그 특징이 있다. 따라서 이러한 새로운 virus vector system을 이용할 경우, 보다 다양한 종에 있어서 형질전환 동물을 효율적으로 생산할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 형질전환 동물의 생산 방법 자체를 다양화 시킬 수 있다고 본다.

  • There are several types of switching table for selection voltage vector in direct torque control of induction motor. In general, two-quadrant and four-quadrant operation switching table are used mostly. Two-quadrant operation has an advantage that reduced the torque ripples in comparison with four-quadrant operation, but it has the defect that is not constant average torque. Because the torque increasing slope size by non-zero voltage vector is different from the torque decreasing slope size by zero voltage vector as speed region. The main objective of this study is to maintain constant average torque using two-quadrant operation switching table. In proposed method, the torque increasing slope or decreasing slope are calculated before selected voltage vector is applied. Then, it is applied to zero voltage vector or non-zero voltage vector until the torque increasing slope and decreasing slope are equal. In total magnitude. Therefore it becomes to maintain average torque at whole operation speed. The validity of the proposed method is proven by simulated and experimental results.
