  • The popularization of VR content is slow. It's because they have not created a new visual experience, that is, 'utility' beyond 'interest'. The utility of VR content starts from functional reality. And to enhanced it, realistic interaction is required. Specifically, this study presents three methods of network play, character artificial intelligence, and Haptic implementation. In order to confirm the hypothesis, we conducted all phases of VR content production from baseball to contents production, play test, and technical verification. Through the test of the user and the evaluation institution about the final product, it was evaluated that it contributed to the realization of the content realism through the realistic visual effect, the play presentation, and the impact evaluation by the vibration.

  • The purposes of this study were: a) to develop the a quality measurement tool for the contract-managed hospital foodservice, and b) to evaluate their performance with the developed quality measurement tool, and c) to verify the reliability and validity of the quality measurement tool. The developed quality measurement tool comprised two parts, which were foodservice management and medical nutrition care service. The foodservice management part was classified into six functional categories which were Menu, Procurement and Storage, Production and Distribution, Facility and Utility, Sanitation and Safety, and Management and Evaluation. The medical nutrition care service part indicated the medical nutrition care provided. Quality measurement tool had 91 standards and 324 indicators. The quality measurement tools were distributed to the hospital foodservice manager employed by the foodservice company. The 324 indicators were measured by foodservice manager on the 5-Likert-type scales, and then adapted to a 100 point scale. The SPSS Ver. 11.0 was used for statistical analysis. The categories whose scores were evaluated as being high were Procurement', General Sanitation', Personal sanitation' and Waste' and the categories whose scores were evaluated as being low were Diet Order Manual', Standard Recipe', Appropriateness (Facility and Utility)', Check (Facility and Utility)'and Information Management'. All the categories of medical nutrition service were evaluated as having seriously low scores. Therefore, it was necessary for the contract-managed hospital foodservice to improve its performance in the area of medical nutrition care service. For the verification of the developed quality measurement tool, the reliability obtained by calculating Cronbach's α was 0.8747, and the content validity was also proved by scrutiny of the modification of the Professional group's techniques. • The transient characteristics of the tri-axial High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) power cable are different from those of a conventional power cable depending on whether the cable is under a steady or transient state due to the quench. Verification using simulation tools is required to confirm both the characteristics of the cable and the effect of the cable when it is applied to a real utility. However, a component for the cable has not been provided in simulation tools; thus the RTDS-based model component of the tri-axial HTS power cable was developed, and a simulation was performed under the transient state. The considered properties of model component include resistance, reactance and temperature. Simulation results indicate the variation of HTS power cable condition. The results are used for the transient characteristic analysis and stability verification of the tri-axial HTS power cable. In the future, the RTDS-based model component of the cable will be used to implement the hardware-in-the-loop simulation with a protection device.

  • In this paper, we propose real time automatic speaker verification (ASV) system to protect personal information on personal digital assistant (PDA) device. Recently, the capacity of PDA has extended and been popular, especially for mobile environment such as mobile commerce (M-commerce). However, there still exist lots of difficulties for practical application of ASV utility to PDA device because it requires too much computational complexity. To solve this problem, we apply the method to relieve the computational burden by performing the preprocessing such as spectral subtraction and speech detection during the speech utterance. Also by applying the hidden Markov model (HMM) optimal state alignment and the sequential probability ratio test (SPRT), we can get much faster processing results. The whole system implementation is simple and compact enough to fit well with PDA device's limited memory and low CPU speed.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the utility of reflected photoplethysmography sensor using two green light emitting diodes that influenced by ambient light. Recently it has been studied that green light emitting diode is suitable for light source of reflected photoplethysmography sensor at low temperature and high temperature. Another study showed that, green light is better for monitoring heart rate during motion than led light. However, it has a bad characteristic about ambient light noise. To verify the utility of reflected photoplethysmography sensor using green light emitting diode, this study measures the photoplethysmography signal that is distorted by ambient light and will propose a solution. This study has two parts of research method. One is measurement system that composed sensor and board. The sensor is made up PE-foam and Non-woven fabric for flexible sensor. The photoplethysmography signal is measured by measurement board that composed high-pass filter, low-pass filter and amplifier. Ambient light source is light bulb and white light emitting diode that has three steps brightness. Photoplethysmography signal is measured with lead II electrocardiography signal at the same time and it is measured at the finger and radial artery for 1 minute, 1000 Hz sampling rate. The lead II electrocardiography signal is a standard signal for heart rate and photoplethysmography signal that measured at the finger is a standard signal for waveform. The test is repeated 3 times using three sensor. The data is processed by MATLAB to verify the utility by comparing the correlation coefficient score and heart rate. The photoplethysmography sensor using two green light emitting diodes is shown better utility than using one green light emitting diode and red light emitting diode at the ambient light. The waveform and heart rate that measured by two green light emitting diodes are more identical than others. The amount of electricity used is less than red light emitting diode and error peak detectability factor is the lowest.

  • Service quality is defined as the perceived difference between performed service and expected service. In this paper, theme park service quality is conceptualized in relation to consumer's total satisfaction on theme park visitation. A 20-item scale was constructed to measure Theme Park Service Quality. The following four steps were employed in developing the service quality measure: 1)identification of service quality dimensions, 2)development of scales from a set of items describing the dimensions, 3)empirical verification of the scale's construct validity which refers to dimensionality, convergent validity, and nomological validity, and 4)confirmation of the utility. The scale was found to be an empirically valid and reliable evaluation tool for service quality enhancement. In addition, the scale would be an useful criterion for market segmentation and positioning.

  • Fingerprint verification is being adopted widely to provide positive identification with a high degree of confidence in all practical areas. This popular usage requires reliable methods for matching of these patterns. To meet the latest expectations, the paper presents a pair wise distance histogram method for fingerprint matching. Here, we introduced a randomized algorithm which exploits pair wise distances between the pairs of minutiae, as a basic feature for match. The method undergoes two steps for completion i.e. first it performs the matching locally then global matching parameters are calculated in second step. The proposed method is robust to common problems that fingerprint matching faces, such as scaling, rotation, translational changes and missing points etc. The paper includes the test of algorithm on various randomly generated minutiae and real fingerprints as well. The results of the tests resemble qualities and utility of method in related field.
