  • Purpose of study: The purpose of this study is to explore the moderating effect of learning motivation in the effect of cognitive presence on cognitive regulation. Research content and method: The subjects of this study were 160 preservice teachers who are enrolled in the Faculty of Education of a university. The survey measured cognitive control, human presence, and learning motivation. Among the collected data, learning motivation was averaged. In addition, a group with low learning motivation and a group with high motivation were distinguished. Next, this study compared the averages of cognitive control by classifying the learning motivation levels. The collected data was analyzed using a multiple regression (Stepwise) method to explore the effect of cognitive presence on cognitive control. First, multiple regression analysis was performed on the entire group. Second, multiple regression analysis was performed by dividing the group with low learning motivation from the group with high motivation. Conclusions and Suggestions: As a result of the analysis, the group with high learning motivation showed a higher level of cognitive control than the group with low motivation. In the group with high learning motivation, only content understanding among the sub-factors of cognitive presence had an effect on cognitive control. In the group with low learning motivation, all factors of cognitive presence were affected.

  • The purpose of this study was to construct and validate a middle - aged exercise adherence model. The model was designed based on self - determination theory. Participants were 215 middle-aged men and women aged 40-60 who had been exercising for more than six months. Data was collected from four big cities of Seoul, Busan, Gwangju and Daejeon in Korea, using a questionnaire consisting of basic psychological needs, intrinsic motivation, social support, and exercise adherence. Data were analyzed with SPSS 19.0 and AMOS 20.0. Social support and exercise adherence of the questionnaire were partially revised and verified by confirmatory factor analysis. The results of the study were as follows. The model's fit indices: GFI = .938, AGFI) = .915, NFI = .912, CFI = .941, and RMSEA = 0.041. The model satisfied the model fit of the structural model equation. This study model based on self - determination theory was confirmed that basic psychological needs, intrinsic motivation, and social support were important factors for the middle - aged's exercise adherence. Basic psychological need and intrinsic motivation had a direct influence on the adherence of exercise, and social support indirectly influenced the exercise adherence through intrinsic motivation. Both basic psychological needs and social support directly affected internal motivation. The most influential factor in the middle - aged's exercise adherence was intrinsic motivation. In conclusion, it was found that intrinsic motivation such as interest and fun is important for the middle - aged to continue the exercise. Also, the basic psychological needs were important for middle aged's exercise adherence. The results of this study will provide basic data for restoring or maintaining health by continuing exercise. Strategies that enhance intrinsic motivation are needed when a chronic ill person needs to continue long-term exercising.

  • The purpose of study is to understand human-technology integration mechanism by using the study model that takes the core concept and motivation assumptions of technology acceptance model(TAM) into account. This study identifies three motivation mechanisms in adopting or using computer mediated communication(CMC) tool for work. The mechanism comprises with extrinsic, extrinsic motivation, and subjective norm pressure. One hospital with 430 beds and 367 human power was identified and we administered the questionnaire during their work hours. There is 32.4% response rate. The fitting index of the study model surpass the acceptable level, GFI = .980 for none-users, GFI =.986 for users, NNFI = .973 for none-users, and NNFI = .989 for users. In the case of none-users, perceived ease of use determines perceived usefulness that explains behavioral intention to use. As a result, adotpers' usage motivation is based on extrinsic motivation that does not consider their affective factor, attitude, in use of CMC. Users considers their attitudes as the mediating factor of all behavioral beliefs for using CMC continually. Thus, users are likely to depend their adoption behaviors on their affective factor. Moreover, users' behavioral intention is subject to pressures of use from other persons who are important to them, such as supervisor, director, or boss. Achieving human-technology integration in a hospital may cause cost saving and work efficiency. However, the success of information system should base on a profound understanding of employees' adoption behaviors in rejecting, adopting, using, continually using of IT, and organization culture in using IT.

  • In this paper, we developed an augmented reality learning tool suitable for chemical bond learning and proposed a process-oriented guided inquiry learning using mobile augmented reality (POGIL-MAR) to find out how it affects science achievement, science learning motivation and learning flow. Participants were 139 10th-grade students from a coeducational high school in Gyeonggi-do, and they were randomly assigned to the control group (TL), the treatment group 1 (POGIL), and the treatment group 2 (POGIL-MAR). They learned the concept of the chemical bond from the Integrated Science subject for four class periods. Results of two-way ANCOVA revealed that the POGIL-MAR group scored significantly higher than the other groups in a science achievement test, science learning motivation test, and learning flow test, regardless of their prior science achievement. In addition, in the case of the low-level group, the POGIL-MAR group showed a statistically significant improvement in achievement compared to the TL and POGIL groups. The MANCOVA analysis for sub-factors of science learning motivation show that the POGIL-MAR group had significantly higher scores in intrinsic motivation, career motivation, self-determination, self-efficacy, and grade motivation. In particular, the interaction effect between the teaching and learning method and the level of prior achievement was significant in the intrinsic motivation. Meanwhile, the MANCOVA analysis for sub-factors of learning flow show that the POGIL-MAR group had significantly higher scores in clear goals, unambiguous feedback, action-awareness merging, sense of control, and autotelic experience. Based on the results, educational implications for effective teaching and learning strategy using mobile augmented reality are discussed.

  • In this study, we investigated the effects of using concept mapping as an instructional tool on 4th graders' achievement, science learning motivation, and attitude toward science classes. Two classes (38 students) from an elementary school were respectively assigned to a control group and a treatment group. Students were taught about "expansion of matter by heat" and "heat transfer". These topics were chosen because they require students to understand more concepts as well as relationships among them. A science learning motivation test and an attitude toward science classes test were administered as pretests. A researcher-made achievement test, the science learning motivation test, and the attitude toward science classes test were administered as posttests. The results indicated that using concept mapping in 4th-grade science classes was not significantly effective in improving students' achievement though a statistically significant positive effect was found in the subcategory of knowledge. No statistically significant effect of using concept mapping was found in the scores of the science learning motivation test and the attitude toward science classes test. Educational implications are discussed.

  • The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between the adult attachment of married employees, their job motivation and marital relationship. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was carried out with 370 married employees in the Chungnam area as the target from Sep. 10 to Oct. 14, 2016. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS 23.0 using descriptive statistical analysis, the independent sample T-test, ANOVA analysis, Pearson correlation, and structural equation analysis. First, significant differences were revealed in the level of attachment avoidance, satisfaction with the marriage relationship, and job motivation according to the age group, in the level of attachment avoidance and satisfaction with the marriage relationship according to the education level, in the level of attachment avoidance and satisfaction with the marriage relationship according to the marriage period, in job motivation according to the position, in satisfaction with the marriage relationship according to the average household income, and in satisfaction with the marriage relationship according to the work shift pattern. Second, although a significant negative correlation appeared between attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance, a significant positive correlation was found between attachment avoidance and job motivation. Also, although a significant negative correlation appeared between attachment avoidance and marital relationship, a significant positive correlation was found between job motivation and marital relationship. Third, to examine the mediating effect of satisfaction with the marital relationship on the relationship between adult attachment and job motivation, a structural equation analysis was carried out. As a result, the indirect effect of attachment anxiety on job motivation turned out to be significant and its complete mediating effect was confirmed. This suggests that when developing programs to improve job motivation within the workplace or consultative interventions for the enhancement of marital relationships, the above characteristics of individuals should be taken into consideration.
