  • A problem user in a library refers to a person who harasses others or causes a disturbance through inappropriate behavior in the library. Users' continued problematic behavior reduces the work productivity of librarians and at the same time causes inconvenience to other users. This may cause a decline in the free use of public libraries. In Korea, a user response manual has been developed to guide librarians to respond wisely to user problem behavior. However, it is true that most of the content provides guidance on how to communicate with problem users, and there is a lack of countermeasures to stipulate and regulate follow-up measures against them. The goal of this study is to further systematize response and organize them into written regulations. To this end, this study to examine regulations and legal battles surrounding problem users in oversea public libraries and to examine what can be applied in Korea in the future.

  • Until now, most of the studies about the internet service have focused mainly on the adoption of on-line(wired) internet services, while there have relatively been very few studies about the adoption and usage of wireless or mobile internet services. The generic model explaining the adoption behaviors of wireless internet services has not been made yet. Previous studies of that area is not so easy to find. The purposes of this paper are two-folds. The first is to find the factors affecting the users' intention and commitment behavior of mobile internet services. The second is to find the relative importance of the factors in users making decisions about users' usage intention and commitment behavior. In the theoretical part of this paper, the precedent studies concerning the technology acceptance model and the theories of on-line internet services adoption, the theories of the mobile internet services, are reviewed and analyzed.

  • The role of emotional responses is an important subject of study in consumer behavior. Although the perceived performance and satisfaction related emotions have been studied with increasing quantities in leisure studies or fields of outdoor recreation and tourism, issues concerning the appropriate way to measure these emotional responses remains unresolved. This article reviews the emotion measuring scales, and testify the usefulness of PAD scale based upon 349 questionnaires by users of Phoenix Park(Ski Resort) and Seoul Land(Theme Park) in Korea. It was found that, users' emotional response was closely related with satisfaction in Phoenix Park(Ski Resort); however, users' perceived performance was closely related with satisfaction in Seoul Land (Theme Park). This article argues that the meanings of these findings is due to different characteristics of consumption typology between ski resort and theme park. In conclusion, users' emotional experience may be more useful in understanding skiing activities and in formulating management strategies for ski resorts than theme parks.

  • We are sometimes interacting with people who we know nothing and facing with the difficult task of making decisions involving risk in social network. To reduce risk, the topic of building Web of trust is receiving considerable attention in social network. The easiest approach to build Web of trust will be to ask users to represent level of trust explicitly toward another users. However, there exists sparsity issue in Web of trust which is represented explicitly by users as well as it is difficult to urge users to express their level of trustworthiness. We propose a fuzzy-based inference model for Web of trust using user behavior information in social network. According to the experiment result which is applied in Epinions.com, the proposed model show improved connectivity in resulting Web of trust as well as reduced prediction error of trustworthiness compared to existing computational model.

  • An investigation is given to a behavioral analysis of automobile users applying congestion toll theory for the purpose of maintaining the efficiency of transportation system. A case study is performed for the city of Seoul, where modal split behavior of automobile user groups is analysed in various level of congestion toll. Automobile users are grouped with respect to their income levels and work shift times. Automobile user behavior is then explained against the field data. A Logit-type model is applied for modal split changes through the application of congestion toll. It is found in the case study that the users in the monthly income bracket of 1.0~1.5 million won is the most predictable group whose work travel time begins 7:00~9:00 a.m. It is also found in the study that 1,000~1,500 won of congestion toll whould reduce the auto use as much as 5%.

  • This study aims to find out differences between designer's design guidelines and user's actual behavior about play facilities of children playground in multifamily housing site by using the method of Post-Occupancy Evaluation. Korea National Housing Cooperation developed the 18 play facilities and constructed them into children' playground of Bun-dong and Junggae-dong housing site in Seoul. The results are as follows: First, user's behaviors which differed from designer's guidelines were influenced by mechanical and technical problems rather than design. Second, users adjusted their brahvior to play facilities which have a little operational problems. Third. users tried to make dangrous activity instead of designer's guidelines based on the safety. It infers that users want to make creative activities from play facilities. Fourth. designers should have developed play facilities for infants and youth. Fifth. users liked to play more complicated play facilities rather than single facility.

  • Collaborative filtering recommender systems are vulnerable to shilling attacks in which malicious users may inject biased profiles to promote or demote a particular item being recommended. To tackle this problem, many robust collaborative recommendation methods have been presented. Unfortunately, the robustness of most methods is improved at the expense of prediction accuracy. In this paper, we construct a robust Bayesian probabilistic matrix factorization model for collaborative filtering recommender systems by incorporating the detection of user anomaly rating behaviors. We first detect the anomaly rating behaviors of users by the modified K-means algorithm and target item identification method to generate an indicator matrix of attack users. Then we incorporate the indicator matrix of attack users to construct a robust Bayesian probabilistic matrix factorization model and based on which a robust collaborative recommendation algorithm is devised. The experimental results on the MovieLens and Netflix datasets show that our model can significantly improve the robustness and recommendation accuracy compared with three baseline methods.

  • In-app advertisement is a fast-growing trend in mobile advertising, where user acceptance of ads is facilitated by the fact that users have voluntarily downloaded the app through which the ad is served. However, research in this ad category is limited. This study applies an extended version of the theory of planned behavior. Analysis results from 412 young mobile users in Vietnam using structural equation modeling showed that while localization and perceived enjoyment affected user intention to watch in-app ads as expected, perceived behavioral control and trust did not. Such results may be due to embedding the ads to applications, confusing users' behavioral intentions. The results underline the need for more future research in the area. In practical terms, companies should improve localization and entertainment aspects of ads to create more relevant and engaging advertisements.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore structural relationship between cognitive factors and emotional factors in predicting behavioral intention of duty-free users. This study conducted questionnaire survey on 246 users of duty-free shops and analyzed it by using structural equation. As the result of the study, attitude was significantly associated with both desire and behavioral intention. Subjective norm had a significant impact on desire, but had no significant imfact on behavioral intention. Whereas perceived behavioral control did not have a significant influence on desire and intention. Desire, which plays mediating role as a major variable in goal-directed behavioral model, turned out to not only have significant impact on behavioral intention but has the strongest effect as well. This study has its academic meaning in that it explored factors which have effect on decision-making process of duty-free users focusing on goal-oriented behavioral model, which is one of integrated psychological models. In practical terms, this study can be used as a basic material for corporations to establish goals in domestic duty-free shops.

  • This study aims to investigate information seeking behavior of Popshoes users. Transaction logs of Popshoes, a major Korean shopping search engine, were analyzed. These transaction logs were collected over 3 months period, from January 1 to March 31, 2015. The results of this study show that Popshoes users behave in a simple and passive way. In the total sessions, more users chose to browse a directory than typing and submitting a query. However, queries played a more crucial role in important decision makings such as search results clicks and product purchases than directory browsing. The results of this study can be implemented to the effective development of shopping search engines.
