In online communities, users use comments to exchange their opinions and feelings on various subjects. Communication based on comments is quick and convenient, but sometimes this light-weight characteristic makes users use impolite and aggressive words, which leads to an online conflict. Therefore, it is important to analyze and classify users according to their characteristics in order to predict and take action for this kind of troubles. In this paper, we present several quantitative measures for describing the structures of comments trees based on the assumption that the user characteristics be observed as a form of some structural feature in comment trees of articles in which they posted comments. We examine the distribution of the proposed measures over article posters and commenters, and in addition, we show the effectiveness of the presented structural features by conducting experiments to classify users who have received warnings of the administrator from benign users.

Although fake news has been present in human history at any time, nowadays, with social media, deceptive information has a stronger effect on society than before. This article answers two research questions, namely (1) Is the dissemination of fake news supported by machines through the automatic construction of filter bubbles, and (2) Are echo chambers of fake news manmade, and if yes, what are the information behavior patterns of those individuals reacting to fake news? We discuss the role of filter bubbles by analyzing social media's ranking and results' presentation algorithms. To understand the roles of individuals in the process of making and cultivating echo chambers, we empirically study the effects of fake news on the information behavior of the audience, while working with a case study, applying quantitative and qualitative content analysis of online comments and replies (on a blog and on Reddit). Indeed, we found hints on filter bubbles; however, they are fed by the users' information behavior and only amplify users' behavioral patterns. Reading fake news and eventually drafting a comment or a reply may be the result of users' selective exposure to information leading to a confirmation bias; i.e. users prefer news (including fake news) fitting their pre-existing opinions. However, it is not possible to explain all information behavior patterns following fake news with the theory of selective exposure, but with a variety of further individual cognitive structures, such as non-argumentative or off-topic behavior, denial, moral outrage, meta-comments, insults, satire, and creation of a new rumor.

The basic search engine on Twitter shows not only tweets that contain search keywords, but also all articles written by users with nicknames containing search keywords. Since the tweets unrelated to the search keyword are exposed as search results, it is inconvenient to many users who want to search only tweets that include the keyword. To solve this inconvenience, this study improved the search function of Twitter by developing an algorithm that searches only tweets that contain search keywords. The improved functionality is implemented as a Web service using ASP.NET MVC5 and is available to many users. We used a powerful collection method in C# to retrieve the results of an object, and it was also possible to output them according to the number of 'retweets' or 'favorites'. If the number of retrieved numbers is less than a given number, we also added an exclusion filter function. Thus, sorting search results by the number of retweets or favorites, user can quickly search for opinions that are of interest to many users. It is expected that many users and data analysts will find the developed function convenient to search on Twitter.

The purpose of this study is to analyze people's motivations to use the National Petition service of CheongWaDae, the Presidential Office of Korea. The online space has been used as a testbed of deliberative democracy. In fact, a wide variety of public opinions are being formed and gaining sympathy through the E-Petitions and Daum's Agora. In this regard, President Moon's government launched a petition site to gather public opinions. For any petition agreed on by more than 20,000 people within 30 days, the relevant ministry or the President's office must provide answers or feedback. This study wants to figure out how this National Petition is different from previous platforms like Agora or E-Petitions and why it is so well-received by people. This study uses a mix of both qualitative and quantitative methods. First, we conducted a focus group interview to factorize experiences of using the National Petition into measurable constructs. Second, we did a survey o 156 Koreans who had experienced the National Petition. Results show that symbolism, usefulness, gratification, and trust have positive impact on continuous usage intention. This study argues that symbolism, usefulness, gratification, and trust factors should be in place rather than technical aspects in order to increase the actual participation of users on the online platform of deliberative democracy. In addition, this study is meaningful in that it examined how different the CheongWaDae's National Petition is from the existing platforms for collecting public opinions and analyzed factors that encourage continuous use.

The purpose of this paper is to gather information and opinions to better guide the direction for implementing improvements of the senior centers' indoor environments located in Jeonju residential areas, by surveying the users about the level of satisfaction and analyzing the result in relation to the current situation. Senior centers located in Jeonju residential areas were operating the facilities with low financial support from the local autonomous entity. According to the results of the survey, most of the users tend to use the facilities between 12p.m. to 6p.m., and the majority have lunch at the senior centers. Most of the senior centers already have cooking facilities, without a dining room, except one place, and even the facilities they have are very poor. In a thermal environment area, the temperature is mostly above in summer or below in winter the appropriate temperature, especially the temperature of the restroom of all senior centers are below $20^{\circ}C$ in winter. The density of carbon dioxide is above average in most indoor areas. However, the users' level of facilities' satisfaction was positive. To improve the seniors' quality of life, the local autonomous entity has to start regular check-ups and repair of the poor indoor environment and facilities, with more financial support and active supervision by senior center the management.

This study investigates how librarians view library user privacy. To this end, a four-part survey was conducted: respondents' opinions about the privacy of library users, the degree to which library records violate the users' privacy, the role libraries and librarians fulfill to ensure user privacy protection, and librarians' need for privacy education. Results showed that librarians were very aware of privacy issues, but they perceived that library users' privacy awareness was not high. In particular, they had little knowledge of what library records or which library tasks might have the potential to violate users' privacy. In addition, awareness efforts of librarians to ensure user privacy was very low. On the other hand, the need for library user privacy educational programs was shown to be very high, and the willingness to participate was also relatively high.

This study intended to discover the communicative characteristics of libraries, such as locality, communality, interactivity, and organic vitality, and measure as to whether the components constituting them were appropriate, and based on the research results, it was intended to establish the role of public libraries based on communicative characteristics. As a result of the study, it finally turned out that the libraries had the four communicative characteristics of 'locality', 'communality', 'interactivity', and 'organic vitality'. The four communicative characteristics may be classified into 16 factors and 63 detailed factors accordingly. Examining the characteristics of library communication, first, locality means that local residents create and maintain the identity of a social, historical, and cultural locality while sharing the space of a library. In the library, the users can receive local life information or create a cultural identity of the locality through communication between the users. Second, communality is a fundamental factor in forming a community of local residents and represents the characteristics of a group formed based on place and geographical characteristics, culture and belief system, and interests. Third, interactivity refers to a kind of behavior in which users interact with other users, information providers, and books and information in the library to give and receive influence. The actions in which two or more objects share knowledge, thoughts, emotions, and opinions may be seen as being accomplished through interaction. Lastly, organic vitality means seeking the continuous maintenance and development of the community, and creating a lasting characteristic even in the changing environment of the library.

This study is a basic study to establish a comprehensive plan for operating the Hanam Library, a regional base library that will be built in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City. We investigated opinions about the collection, library program, role and task of a regional base library and the operation of the cooperative shared storage. As a result of the study, the information resources that users prefer are a book form of the literary subject, and preferred library services are the use of information resources and participation in cultural events. Public library librarians answered conducting user-centered services and carrying out a cooperative projects between libraries are important and they recognized cooperative acquisition as a task should be performed first. In addition, opinions about the operation of cooperative shared storage is generally positive. The regional base library managers said that it is important to establish library governance by clarifying the status and role of the library and that as a public library, and to promote information services and cooperation projects for local users. The results of this study can be expected to be the useful basic material for the establishment of the Hanam Library comprehensive operation plan.

The purpose of this study is to conduct a summative evaluation of the usability of a general-purpose ventilator to determine whether it can be used for its intended purpose in the intended environment by the intended user and to find possible errors in use. The importance of ventilators has increased due to the accelerated aging of the population and the impact of the pandemic. In addition, patients who require ventilators are often in critical condition, so even a small error in use can be fatal. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the ventilator has sufficient stability and can be used satisfactorily without inconvenience to the user. In this study, we conducted a usability test with 17 respiratory nurses with more than 3 years of experience using the ventilator. We analyzed the task success rate, satisfaction, and opinions of the intended users while going through a total of 17 scenarios. Satisfaction was captured through an ASQ questionnaire and subjective opinions were captured through a detailed opinion questionnaire. The results showed a high level of satisfaction with an average score of 6.3 for the use scenarios. Evaluators expressed satisfaction with the overall visibility and versatility of the features, but noted that improvements were needed for calibration tasks with low task success rates. As the calibration method is different from other equipment, it was suggested that specific explanations of the calibration method and the picture that appears when calibrating are needed, and that if relevant training is provided, the equipment can be used without problems. If the usability evaluation is not limited to securing efficiency and satisfaction from the intended users, but also continuously receives feedback from users to prepare for use in emergency environments such as pandemic situations, it will be very helpful to seize opportunities such as emergency authorization in future situations, and ultimately contribute to patient safety by reducing use errors.

This thesis aims to identify the design guidelines for environmental plans for the facilities for the aged people with a focus on the users' needs and the concept of aging in place. For this purpose major environmental design factors were researched by analyzing spaces and interviewing the managers and supervisor of W nursing home in Jeju Island that was opened in 1980s. Surveyed factors were divided into five categories, and by applying the design guideline theory of age friendly environment and nursing home facilities to them, five municipal composition factors of Kevin Lynch, universal design, environmental behavior model of John Zeisel principles were found. On the other hand, the environmental changes and development process of W nursing home is a showcase that reveals the importance of narrowing the gap in the opinions of the space users, the experts of architecture and administration which is emphasized in the principles of Inquiry by Design of John Zeisel. This research is expected to be used effectively for the researchers who study the space designs for the age-friendly environment.
