  • We discuss why sample design by mathematical programming can be beneficial to practical surveys. We illustrate some developments of software for sample design using mathematical programming in several statistical organizations. Also, we present certain restrictions on the use of mathematical programming.

  • The use of three mathematical programming techniques (quadratic programming, integer quadratic programming and linear programming) is discussed to solve some problems in linear regression analysis. When the criterion is the minimization of the sum of squared deviations and the parameters are linearly constrained, the problem may be formulated as quadratic programming problem. For the selection of variables to find "best" regression equation in statistics, the technique of integer quadratic programming is proposed and found to be a very useful tool. When the criterion of fitting a linear regression is the minimization of the sum of absolute deviations from the regression function, the problem may be reduced to a linear programming problem and can be solved reasonably well.ably well.

  • Computer programs are required from all areas in society including machine, space, aviation, and medicine. However, the programming curriculum is getting hard despite a lot of teaching materials and video lessons. Programming languages are very diverse, but most of them use the same structure, and they only have different expression methods. Therefore, if one learns one programming language, then it doesn't need to spend a lot of time and efforts to learn another programming langue. Most programming languages use the structure of sequence, selection, and repletion in general. The important thing for programming learners is the structure or algorithm of programming not the grammar of program. This study designed and implemented the language learning system to learn structured programming by using a flowchart.

  • In the existing robot programming methods, off-line method becames important role of programming because of improvement of hardware and software of PC. The purpose of this study is to develop practical robot programming system for polishing task using PC. In the first place, we have investigated the existing robot programming systems, and derived the requirement of this programming system from the existing systems. And we have decided the structure of this system. After that, we have developed this system. Using Windows software, this programming system has man/machine interface function. So users can use easily and quickly.

  • This paper described the application of fuzzy multiobjective linear programming to solving a multiple-use problem of forest resources management. At first the concepts of linear programming, fuzzy linear programming and fuzzy multiobjective linear programming were introduced briefly. In order to illustrate a role of fuzzy multiobjective linear programming in the process of multiple-use forest planning, the natural recreation forest in Mt. Yoomyung was selected for this study. A fuzzy multiobjective linear programming model is formulated with data obtained from this Mt. Yoomyumg natural recreation forest to solve the multiple-use management planning problem of forest resources. Finally, the results, which were obtained from the calculation of this model, were discussed. The maximal value of the membership function(${\lambda}$) was 0.29, when the timber production and the forest recreation function were optimized at the same time through the fuzzy multiobjective linear programming. The cutting area in each period was 102.7ha, while total cutting area was 410.8ha for 4 periods. During 4 periods $57,904m^3$ will be harvested from this natural recreation forest and at the same time total visitors were estimated to be about 8.6 millions persons.

  • Recently, programming education is being actively performed in education field with development of educational programming language and teaching and learning methods for elementary students. However, programming education have limit to apply to the overall computer science curriculum, because it is performed by more than 5th grade and focused on the utilization of programming tools than problem-solving process. It is necessary to expand the range of students and educational content considered with problem-solving process for encouraging programming education in computer science. In this study, we suggest the easy-to-use programming tool for lower grade(1st grade) and robot programming task based on improvement of student's thinking ability. We use Tangible User Interface(TUI) for elementary student's(1st grade) convenience of programming and developed the robot programming task for improvement of logical thinking. As a result of this experiment, tangible programming tool can be used easily in elementary students(1st grade) and developed robot programming task is effective in improvement of logical thinking.

A use of fuzzy set in linear programming problems (선형문제에서의 퍼지집합 이용)

  • This paper shows the application of fuzzy set and nonlinear membership function to linear programming problems in a fuzzy environment. In contrast to typical linear programming problems, the objectives and constraints of the problem in a fuzzy environment are defined imprecisely. This paper describes that fuzzy linear programming models can be formulated using the basic concepts of membership functions and fuzzy sets, and that they can be solved by quadratic programming methods. In a numerical example, a linear programming problem with two constraints and two decision variables is provided to illustrate the solution procedure.

  • This paper describes a development of conversational program for lathe. The proposed program is a NC programming system specialized for use in machine tool controls. Its easy to use graphic interface built-in database capabilities make it an ideal way to program part on the shop floor. In order to manage effectively machining process it proposed the algorithm of tree structures for design processing. Also using interative structure it proposed the methods of conversational programming to generate automatically NC program.

  • With the progress in process automation, it becomes necessary that a robot should have various sophisticated capabilities. A robot programming language is a tool that can give a robot such capabilities without any change in robot architecture. Especially a task level automatic programming system enables a robot able to perform a job intelligently. Therefore anyone who is not an expert on welding or robot programming can easily use it. In this research, basic automatic welding program is combined with workspace information, which makes users do an arc welding job automatically.
