Senior centers in apartment complex have been provided since 1980 according to the Housing Act in Korea. Nowadays these senior centers are model leisure facility for the elderly. However there are no specific guidelines for space composition and usage in a senior center. This study examines the space composition and usage patterns of 16 senior centers in apartment complex, Jangyou New Town. The data were collected by means of an observation, measuring, and interviews. The results are ; 1) A senior center consisted of one living room and two rooms for men and women would be appropriate; A living room is for common activities and two rooms for casual resting of each gender. 2) A kitchen is mainly used for setting the table or making tea. Thus, the living-dining-kitchen type would be appropriate. 3) Many rest rooms are located outside of a senior center and unisex one. The restroom should be separated by gender and located within the senior center. Also, the width of all doors should be more than 80cm and the floor be flat. The grab bars should be installed near the fixtures in a restroom. 4) Design and location of the shoe shelf are not convenient for the elderly to use. It should be designed and arranged for the elderly to use conveniently. Also, space for canes, walkers or wheelchairs should be considered in entrance area.
Purpose: To determine the extent and rate of prescription drug therapy, especially polypharmacy and the prevalence of potentially inappropriate medication use in Korean elderly ambulatory patients based on an explicit criterion. Methods: Performed a retrospective study of 65 years or older ambulatory patients visiting a university hospital based clinic from January 2002 to April 2004. Study determined the patterns of drug prescription per Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical Classification and the potentially inappropriate medication usage based on explicit Beers criteria. Results: Of the 4,042 elderly patients the mean number of prescription was $2.2{\pm}2.0$, which was similar between genders and all age groups within the elderly. 10.7% of patients were prescribed with more than 5 medications concurrently. The most frequently prescribed medication was the drugs used for treating nervous system diseases (44.3%), followed by alimentary tract/metabolism disorders (27.6%), cardiovascular disease (10.7%), blood/blood forming disorders (4.3%), respiratory disorders (6.5%), and musculoskeletal diseases (3.2%). A total of 511 elderly (13%) was prescribed with medication that met the criteria for=1 potentially inappropriate drugs for the elderly. This proportion was similar between genders and all age groups within the elderly. Among these 511 elderly patients the mean number of potentially inappropriate drugs prescribed was $5.1{\pm}3.3$ drugs. Potentially inappropriately prescribed drugs included amitriptyline (76 cases), diazepam (69 cases), ketorolac (57 cases), short acting nifedipine (44 cases), triazolam (38 cases), and hydroxyzine (38 cases). Conclusion: Potentially inappropriate drug prescribing in Korean ambulatory elderly patients are common. Education programs and interventions aimed at optimizing the prescribing and dispensing of the most appropriate drugs are needed.
This paper, using AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) electricity data accurately measured in real time, analyses the characteristics and patterns of temperature effect on the industrial electricity usage. For this goal, the paper constructs and estimates a model which captures the properties of AMR time series including long-term trends, mid-term temperature effects, and short-term special day effects. Based on the estimated temperature response function and the temperature effect, we categorize the whole industry into two groups: one group with sharp temperature effect and the other with weak temperature effect. Furthermore, the industry group with sharp temperature effect is classified into a summer peak industry group and a winter peak industry group, based on the estimates of the temperature response function. These empirical results carry practical policy implications on the real time electricity demand management.
In this study VOD usage patterns(VOD use and paid amount) of IPTV users were investigated reflecting the level of media use characteristics such as TV viewing time, star preference, and genre preference. Also the impact of media using characteristics and the evaluation of guide channel on the intention to use VOD was analyzed. The web survey was conducted against the respondents who have used VOD and guide channel. The results are as follows. Among the media usage characteristics, star preference has the impact on the VOD use, while genre preference has relation to the willingness to pay for VOD. Secondly, the intention to view the guide channel, entertainment of the channel, and the users' genre preference have significant impacts on the intention to use VOD. Therefore, it is necessary to raise the viewing rate of guide channel by providing the customized promotion strategy and diverse events based on the analysis of VOD usage.
This study aimed to investigate the prescription of antibiotics in clinics, and evaluate their usage appropriateness after the 2000 Korean separation of dispensary from medical practice. A retrospective study was performed on the antibiotic use for 4 years from August 2000 to July 2004 in three clinics (general, internal medicine and ear-nose-and-throat (ENT) clinics). Moreover, prescription of antibiotics for acute upper respiratory infection (AURI), concomitant drugs, duplicate antibiotics and patient adherence were assessed for 260 patients experienced AURI in a pharmacy. The prescription rates of antibiotics amongst the whole prescription decreased annually during the study period, but those in ENT clinic still constituted more than 90%. The usage of penicillins declined, but that of broad spectrum antibiotics such as amoxicillin/clavulanic acid and 1st/2nd generation cephalosporins increased. Moreover, the categories of antibiotics for the same indication were different among the clinics. For patients with AURI, the more antibiotics were prescribed as its missing days and days under its therapeutic dose increased. The drug interactions with concomitant drugs decreased annually, but the use of duplicate antibiotics was similar across the period. Potential inappropriate antibiotic use was common after the Korean policy, so the observation of pharmacists needs in addition to the patients and practitioners' attention.

Carpal tunnel syndrome, carpal tunnel becomes part of a narrower median nerve pain occurs pressed. How a stable wrist stretch for the prevention of carpal tunnel syndrome is required, it should life guides to fit the user is provided. In this research, users themselves recognize the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome, to be able to stretch, it implements the application. Application, based on the usage time set by the user, executes the alarm and lock. At this time, the user may utilize arduino and inertia sensor, it is possible to wrist stretch, to analyze usage patterns, it is possible to provide a medical information and life guides to suit the user. Data using Bluetooth 4.0 communication has been to meet the runaway. In order to evaluate the mounted system, targeting four subjects, the time and the touch frequency of usage of the 3-day smartphone measured, as a result of the questionnaire, it reduces the frequency of use of smartphones, a positive it was possible to prove the effect.
Developing the modern design of Hanok and providing support for the commercialization model development in recent years propelled by the New Hanok Support Strategies of the central government in conjunction with the New Hanok revitalization related projects reflecting local goverments. New Hanok revitalization, the rekindling and revaluing of human behaviors and interests in local goverments following the social and cultural changes of the past decades, has emeraged as an increasingly traditional area of concerning in New Hanok planning. In this paper we attempt to this discussion by describing recent projects in New Hanok revitalization in Jeollanam-do Province. Therefore, this study aims to examine the classification of compound knowledges based multidimensional relationship by using Self-Organizing Maps (SOM). SOM is an unsupervised learning neural network model for the analysis of high-dimensional input data. By using SOM, we were able to create a cluster map reflecting the characteristics of the New Hanok. In this case the pattern of the preference data was easily understood by visual analysis. Liking for compound knowledge deduced from this data was classified into 8 categories according to the compound knowledge properties of New Hanok. As a result, a systematic approach for analysis the characteristics of individual family and living environment of New Hanoks and 10 space usage patterns the changes in some aspects of New Hanok.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the dweller's housing needs through the connection between dwellers' living pattern and space usage. The objectives were (1) to examine how to eat and cook in the eating and cooking spaces, (2) to examine how to alter the original housing, (3) to research the dwellers' housing needs for the eating and cooking spaces, and the changing process of dwellers' housing needs, and (4) to classify the type of eating and cooking spcaces. The results of this study were (1) there were changed in eating pattern of space usage according to the season. The eating activities were a Korean living pattern : sitting on the floor and eating at the BAB SANG. (2) There was a difference in the pattern of space usage and the activity for main cooking and KIM CHI. (3) AN BANG (eating space for winter) as well as MARU (eating space for summer) has changed to a larger space. (4) By the changing of living patterns, BU AUK (a main cooking space ) has showed a various alternations: function, dimension of space, facilities, floor materials and floor level. (5) The dwellers' housing needs for eating space were a multipurpose room, and a dining kitchen of western living pattern (using a dining table and chairs) with the present changing life styles. Objectives: This study was performed to obtain reference data of traditional Korean medicine diagnostic methods for the practical usage in women infertility. Methods: The study involved 38 female patients of age 20-38 years that had diagnosed of infertility. All the subjects answered to pattern identification questionnaire and Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification (QSCC II). Pattern identification scores and constitution types have been analyzed with variables of infertility factors and age. Statistical analysis was performed by adopting descriptive and inferential tests. Results: In pattern identification questionnaire analysis, the patterns were observed in order of frequency: liver stasis; blood deficiency; kidney-yang deficiency; kidney-yin deficiency; damp-heat; blood stasis; and phlegm. The group, less than 35 years old, had the higher average score of liver stasis (p<0.05). Also, the group with tubal and peritoneal factors, had the higher average score of blood deficiency (p<0.05). In QSCC II analysis, So-yang type had the higher average score of liver stasis, kidney-yang deficiency, and kidney-yin deficiency. So-eum type had the higher average score of liver stasis, kidney-yang deficiency, kidney-yin deficiency, and blood deficiency. While, Tae-um type had the higher average score of liver stasis and phlegm. Conclusions: We would accumulate the clinical data for the practical usage of traditional Korean medicine diagnostic methods in women infertility.
Korea is both a resource-poor country and a energy-consuming country. In addition, the use and dependence on electricity is very high, and more than 20% of total energy use is consumed in buildings. As research on deep learning and machine learning is active, research is underway to apply various algorithms to energy efficiency fields, and the introduction of building energy management systems (BEMS) for efficient energy management is increasing. In this paper, we constructed a database based on energy usage by device per household directly collected using smart plugs. We also implement algorithms that effectively analyze and predict the data collected using RNN and LSTM models. In the future, this data can be applied to analysis of power consumption patterns beyond prediction of energy consumption. This can help improve energy efficiency and is expected to help manage effective power usage through prediction of future data.
