Estimation of Penetration Depth Using Acceleration Signal Analysis for Underwater Free Fall Cone Penetration Tester

  • A track-type underwater construction robot (URI-R) was developed by the Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology. Because URI-R uses tracks to move on the seabed, insufficient ground strength may hinder its movement. For smooth operation of URI-R on the seabed, it is important to determine the geotechnical properties of the seabed. To determine these properties, standard penetration test (SPT), cone penetration test (CPT), and sampling are used on land. However, these tests cannot be applied on the seabed due to a high cost owing to the vessel, crane, sampler, and analysis time. To overcome these problems, a free fall cone penetration tester (FFCPT) is being developed. The FFCPT is a device that acquires the geotechnical properties during impact/penetration/finish phases by free fall in water. Depth information is crucial during soil data acquisition. As the FFCPT cannot measure the penetration depth directly, it is estimated indirectly using acceleration. The estimated penetration depth was verified by results of real tests conducted on land.

  • It has been reported that copper and copper alloys have a large anisotropy of functional properties such as electrical, thermal and mechanical properties, which means that the texture of polycrystalline alloy should be considered to achieve better properties. In this study, the determination of grain growth orientation and texture formation in the cold-rolled, heat-treated and Ni-plated hybrid copper sheets was investigated. Grain growth direction and texture formation were analyzed by the X-ray pole figure. The influence of texture on the mechanical properties could be quantitatively confirmed by the results from the orientation distribution function and the tensile test. The heat-treated texture in the cold-rolled hybrid copper sheet is also investigated and discussed.

  • In order to provide VoIP service that using SIP on the Internet, users must register their current location to receive call from other cal]or. 13y using REGISTER method, users register his or her SIP URL address and currently contactable addresses to registrar server. The registered addresses are not only SIP URI but also mai]to, http, tel, and so on. In these procedures, we must consider authentication mechanism whether he/she has authority to handle the record or not. In this paper, we will briefly describe authentication mechanism that used in SIP and design of registrar server that support the 3rd party registration.

  • In this paper, the design of URL structures and managements for UFID(Unique feature Identification) based wireless communications is presented with the combination of GIS and URL address informations. As a result of IPv6 based UFID wireless communications, new methods for URI(Uniform Resource Identifier) informations and UFID communication systems are proposed with a 6byte coded 128-bit IPv6 DNS system for the presentation of 1,500,000 korean buildings.

Characteristics of 'Baekseung', a new cultivar Flammulina velutipes (팽이버섯 신품종 '백승'의 특성)

  • 'Baekseung', a new variety of Flammulina velutipes, was bred by mating two monokaryotic strains isolated from KMCC 4210 and KMCC 4216 in the Mushroom Research Division, Baekseung ARES in 2016. The Baekseung and Uri1ho strains showed fast mycelial growth and mycelial density on malt extract agar media after 7 days of incubation. The spawn running period on the sawdust substrate required a cultivation period and temperature of 30 days and $25^{\circ}C$, respectively, for primordia formation where in fruiting body development occurred from $11{\pm}1days$ at $14^{\circ}C$ and $14{\pm}1days$ at $7^{\circ}C$. The length of the pilei and stipes of the Baekseung harvested in optimal stag were $11.3{\pm}0.4$ and $89.2{\pm}7.1mm$, respectively, whereas the values for Uri1ho were $10.7{\pm}1.0$ and $91.3{\pm}20.8mm$, respectively. The yield of the Baekseung and Uri1ho strain grown on the sawdust substrate was $153.7{\pm}12.5$ and $139.8{\pm}17.8g$, respectively, per 850 ml in bottle cultivation. The inferred tree exhibited a phylogenetic relationship between the Korean white fruiting body strains of Baekseung, Uri1ho and Fv-14-a-38, Fv-14-a-51, and the Japanese white fruiting body-forming strains of KMCC 4226, and these were confirmed to be genetically related.

Bioinformatic Suggestions on MiSeq-Based Microbial Community Analysis

  • Recent sequencing technology development has revolutionized fields of microbial ecology. MiSeq-based microbial community analysis allows us to sequence more than a few hundred samples at a time, which is far more cost-effective than pyrosequencing. The approach, however, has not been preferably used owing to computational difficulties of processing huge amounts of data as well as known Illumina-derived artefact problems with amplicon sequencing. The choice of assembly software to take advantage of paired-end sequencing and methods to remove Illumina artefacts sequences are discussed. The protocol we suggest not only removed erroneous reads, but also dramatically reduced computational workload, which allows even a typical desktop computer to process a huge amount of sequence data generated with Illumina sequencers. We also developed a Web interface (http://biotech.jejunu.ac.kr/ ~abl/16s/) that allows users to conduct fastq-merging and mothur batch creation. The study presented here should provide technical advantages and supports in applying MiSeq-based microbial community analysis.

  • Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS)은 원격지의 사용자들을 인증하기 위한 대표적인 프로토콜이다. 기존의 RADIUS인증은 인증 서버가 클라이언트 IP, URI정보와 같은 데이터 통신의 기본사항만을 확인한 후 세션을 설정한다. 하지만, 악의적인 공격자가 IP 혹은 URI정보를 위/변조해서 인증을 요청하거나 반복적인 인증요청을 통한 DOS(Denial Of Service)공격을 수행할 경우 부적절한 인증, 사용자의 인증시간 지연 및 실패와 같은 심각한 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 클라이언트와 서버가 공유하는 데이터의 Hash값을 검증한 후, Packet Signing 방식을 활용해서 유효한 사용자에게만 서버접근을 허용하는 방안을 제안한다.

  • DASE(DTV Application Software Environment)는 ATSC의 지상파 방송 표준으로 한국에서는 월드컵과 아시안게임을 거쳐 현재까지 시험방송 중에 있다. 국내에서는 주요한 데이터전송 방식으로 데이터 carousel 프로토콜을 사용하고 있는데, 지금까지는 전송되는 파일의 이름과 content type에 관한 정보가 DST(Data Service Table)에 들어가 있었으나, ATSC 표준이 변경됨에 따라 이 정보가 DII(Download Info Indication)[2]의 descriotor로 위치가 변경되었다. 이로 인해 DII에 삽입해야 하는 데이터의 양이 증가하여 하나의 DII에 삽입 가능한 모듈의 개수가 감소되었고 전송량이 증가하게 되었는데, 본 논문은 base URI와 default content type을 통해 이러한 제약을 완화할 수 있는 방식에 대해 ATSC S13에 제안한 내용을 토대로 기술하였다.

  • 시맨틱 웹 기반의 차세대 정보 서비스인 OntoFrame2007은 시맨틱 웹과 웹 2.0 기술을 상호 보완하여 개발한 플랫폼으로 URI기반의 개체 중심적 통합 검색을 통해 Topic, Person, Event 기반의 개체 페이지를 구성한다. 각 페이지에는 Add-on 서비스를 통해 연구자 그룹, 연구자 네트워크, 통계 정보를 제공하며, 매쉬업 기술을 이용하여 매핑 서비스, 도서 서비스를 제공한다. OntoFrame2007은 서비스 설계 과정에서 Google, Google Scholar, CiteSeer, yesKisti 사이트와 비교하여 사용자의 요구사항 및 각 서비스의 장점을 최대한 반영시켰으며, 개발 단계마다 반복적 사용성 평가를 통해 사용자 중심의 서비스를 제공하도록 개선시켰다. 본 시스템에서는 URI를 통해 개체의 모호성을 제거하여 키워드 기반의 통합 검색의 한계를 극복하였으며, 사용자 질의어를 식별하여 단위 서비스로 구성된 최적 개체 페이지를 통해 정교한 검색 서비스를 제공해준다. 개체 페이지들은 키워드 검색 결과, 연구 동향 정보 및 연구자 그룹, 전문가 네트워크 및 지역별 연구 동향 등을 제공해준다.
