The Indoor Environmental Quality Improving and Energy Saving Potential of Phase-Change Material Integrated Facades for High-Rise Office Buildings in Shanghai

  • The conflict between indoor environmental quality and energy consumption has become an unneglectable problem for highrise office buildings, where occupants' productivity is highly affected by their working environment. An effective Façade, therefore, should play the role of an active building skin by adapting to the ever-changing external environment and internal requirements. This paper explores the energy-saving and indoor environment-improving potential of a phase-change material (PCM) integrated Façade. Building performance simulations, combined with parametric study and sensitivity analysis, are adopted in this research. The result quantifies the potential of a PCM-integrated Façade with different configurations and PCM properties, taking as an example a south-oriented typical office room in Shanghai. It is found that a melting temperature of around $22^{\circ}C$ for the PCM layer is optimal. Compared to a conventional Façade, a PCM-integrated Façade effectively reduces total energy use, peak heating/cooling load, and operative temperature fluctuation during the periods of May-July and November-December.

Nano-delamination monitoring of BFRP nano-pipes of electrical potential change with ANNs

  • In this work, the electrical potential (EP) technique with an artificial neural networks (ANNs) for monitoring of nanostructures are used for the first time. This study employs an expert system to identify size and localize hidden nano-delamination (N.Del) inside layers of nano-pipe (N.P) manufactured from Basalt Fiber Reinforced Polymer (BFRP) laminate composite by using low-cost monitoring method of electrical potential (EP) technique with an artificial neural networks (ANNs), which are combined to decrease detection effort to discern N.Del location/size inside the N.P layers, with high accuracy, simple and low-cost. The dielectric properties of the N.P material are measured before and after N.Del introduced using arrays of electrical contacts and the variation in capacitance values, capacitance change and node potential distribution are analyzed. Using these changes in electrical potential due to N.Del, a finite element (FE) simulation model for N.Del location/size detection is generated by ANSYS and MATLAB, which are combined to simulate sensor characteristic, therefore, FE analyses are employed to make sets of data for the learning of the ANNs. The method is applied for the N.Del monitoring, to minimize the number of FE analysis in order to keep the cost and save the time of the assessment to a minimum. The FE results are in excellent agreement with an ANN and the experimental results available in the literature, thus validating the accuracy and reliability of the proposed technique.

GIS DB를 이용한 상업·업무시설의 입지 포텐셜 분석 (A Study on the Analysis of Location Potential of Commercial Use using GIS Database)

  • 본 연구는 부산시의 GIS 데이타베이스를 활용하여 먼저, 입지포텐셜 분석을 위한 지표를 설정하여 각 지표별 Rank-Map을 작성하였다. 다음으로 각 상업 업무시설이 입지할 가능성을 예측할 수 있는 입지 포텐셜 ($P_i$)을 분석하여 제안하였다. Rank 1, 2로 분류되는 존의 건물용도 현황을 보면, 상업시설 용도가 차지하는 비율이 높음을 알 수 있었다. Rank 4~7까지의 존은 환경보전적 차원에서 비 상업계 용도지역이 지정되고 관리될 필요가 있다고 사료된다. 또한, 본 연구에서 제안한 입지 포텐셜은 용도지역 지정시 상업계 용도지역 지정의 기초자료로서 활용할 수 있다고 사료되어진다.

Landsat-7 ETM+ 영상과 AWS 자료를 이용한 부산의 토지피복에 따른 여름철 도시열섬포텐셜 산출 (Estimation of Urban Heat Island Potential Based on Land Cover Type in Busan Using Landsat-7 ETM+ and AWS Data)

  • 본 연구에서는 부산의 지난 25년간 장기적 토지피복변화를 조사하고, 이어서 지표면 온도와 기온자료를 이용해서 열섬포텐셜을 평가하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1975년부터 2000년까지 지난 25년 동안 부산의 도시면적은 2.5배 이상 증가하였다. 이처럼 단기간에 도시의 포장면적이 빠르게 증가한 것은 다른 나라에서는 유례를 찾아보기 어려운 우리나라 독특한 현상으로 판단된다. 이러한 과정을 통해서 도시열섬현상이 심화되었을 것이라는 것을 추정할 수 있었다. 지표면 피복에 따른 지표면 온도를 분석한 결과 도시화 지역과 산림지역의 온도가 현저히 차이가 나타났다. 특히 여름철에는 공단지역에서 $36{\sim}39^{\circ}C$로 높게 나타났으며, 반면 도시의 중심에 산지가 위치한 지역에서는 $22{\sim}24^{\circ}C$로 낮은 지표면 온도를 나타내었다. 토지피복도에 따른 열섬포텐셜은 지표면 피복 상태에 따라서 그 값이 달라짐을 알 수 있었다. 도시화지역 중 공업지역의 열섬포텐셜은 $6{\sim}8^{\circ}C$, 주거지역과 상업지역은 $0{\sim}5^{\circ}C$로 도시열섬을 유발할 가능성이 높음을 확인할 수 있었다. 반면 산림지역이나 농업지역 수변지역 열섬포텐셜 값은 $-6{\sim}-3^{\circ}C$로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 통해 도시의 토지이용에 따른 기온상승효과를 평가하여 도시의 열환경 개선 및 환경친화적 도시개발 계획에 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Collaborative and Participatory Model for Urban Forest Management: Case study of Daejisan in Korea

  • Citizen's involvement in forest decision-making is recently acknowledged as a potential solution to forest management conflicts. Through participation, affected citizens become a part of the decision-making process. This paper focuses on the use of collaborative and participatory model(CPM) for urban forest management. The model, which is exemplified by the Daejisan case in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, Korea, utilizes the collaborative decision-making structure and the gradual level of resident participation in urban forest management. As a result, the committee in the model contributed to building partnerships among different interest groups and then to constructing environmentally compatible urban park. Furthermore, an improvement in the levels of resident participation was manifested in the process. These characteristics of CPM can encourage participation and cooperation among stakeholders and ultimately contribute to realizing sustainable urban forest management.

울산시 서부생활권 내 주거지구의 도시적요소에 대한 비교 (Urban Factors of Residential Area in the “Western Region of Ulsan City” -Focused on the Mugeo, Daun, Gulhwa, Guyoung, and Cheonsang districts-)

  • The aims of this study was to provide information of sites to potential buyers and apartment builders through a comparative investigation on the urban criteria in 5 disDicts of Usan city Mugeo, Daun, Guhwa, Guyoung, and Cheonsang. The content analysis method was used to determine the urban factors which reviewed the urban and environment plan legal system and contents of plans which analyzed the housing characteristics in Ulsan city. Also utilized were professional's opinion and various emphasized elements such as the location of apartments through newspaper advertisement from 1990 to 1999. The urban evaluation factors used in this study were degree of air and noise pollulion, traffic facilities, land use, living environment and economics. Major findings are as follows: Mugeo area has the most convenience community facilities, Guyoung and Cheonsang areas have excellent natural environment-air and noise pollution.

도심 수목이 분산형 주거 태양광에너지 잠재량에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Urban Trees on Residential Solar Energy Potential)

  • 본 연구는 미국 샌프란시스코시 수목 음영이 개별 건물 지붕 및 옥상에 입사되는 태양에너지 잠재량에 미치는 영향을 LiDAR를 이용한 고해상도 3차원 수치모델을 이용하여 공간적으로 정량화하였다. 최근 분산형 태양광 발전이 기후변화 대응에 중요한 부분으로 주목받고 있으나, 이러한 도심 태양광 발전은 주변부의 지형, 건물, 지붕모양, 수목 등의 음영에 의해 발전량이 제한되는 특성이 있다. 특히 건물 주변의 수목의 경우 도시열섬현상의 저감, 냉난방 에너지 수요량의 절감 등의 순기능과 태양광 발전량 감소의 역기능을 동시에 가지고 있어 두 가지 효용의 상충을 최소화하기 위해 해당 위치에 대한 공간적 분석이 요구된다. 샌프란시스코시 전체 건물 지붕면적의 태양에너지 총량은 년간 18,326,671 MWh으로, 수목의 음영에 의한 감소량은 326,406 MWh로 총량의 1.78%에 해당하였다. 건물지붕의 단위 면적당 일조량은 $34.4kWh/m^2/year$에서 $1,348.4kWh/m^2/year$ 범위로 산출되었다. 본 연구를 통해 도심 수목에 의한 건물별 일조에너지 감소량의 공간자료가 구축되었으며, 개별 건물지붕에 일조량의 변이를 주변 수목의 밀도, 평균수고, 수고의 분산값을 이용한 회귀모델을 통해 설명하였다. 본 연구는 도심수목의 환경적 순기능을 유지함과 동시에 태양광 발전 감소량의 최소화 할 수 있는 방법을 제공함으로써 지속가능한 도시를 구축하는데 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

Defining the Patterns and Factors of Urban Crime in Korean Cities Based on the Analysis of Social Statistical Data

  • The high rate of urban crime is a main issue that needs to be dealt with in this high-tech society. With the rapid increase of urban crime, research has mainly focused on topics either on a global or a local scale, such as cities or communities and houses or buildings, without reliable observational data. This study makes the best use of the nationwide surveys carried out by Korean government agencies for the analysis of urban crime patterns and factors in major Korean cities. The aims of this research are threefold: understanding the relationship between urban crime patterns and socio-economic differences in cities, determining the effect of residence types on the urban crime patterns; and uncovering potential influential factors of a crime victim's individual characteristics. The statistical methods used for the analysis of social statistical data are as follows: simple regression, logistic regression, one-way ANOVA and post-hoc test. This research found that the patterns of urban crime rate in cities have a certain tendency toward the cities' socio-economic and geographical differences. The residence type is an influential factor showing a close relation to the crime rate. Personal issues, such as the types of occupation, education, marriage, etc., are directly relevant to victims of crime.

도시농업을 활용한 유휴공간의 재발견: 밀워키를 사례로 (Reinventing Vacant Lands for Urban Agriculture: Evaluating Milwaukee's Vacant Land Programs and Initiatives)

  • Converting vacant lands for urban agriculture has become a popular topic for American cities to engage in on a program and policy level. The advocates of urban agriculture cite a number of potential benefits, ranging from promoting sustainable urban development, fostering social interaction and educational opportunities, regenerating neighborhoods, and empowering residents. With the emergence of vacant lands in South Korea, different strategies have been implemented for productive use. Nonetheless, less attention has been paid to reinvent vacant lands for urban agriculture. Therefore, this study has examined the case of the City of Milwaukee's vacant land initiatives and programs that were known to have brought a series of positive neighborhood revitalization outcomes. Compared to the case of Milwaukee, intensive land use and high property prices have turned to be the major actors that prevent an active use of vacant land for urban agriculture within the context of South Korean cities. Thus, this paper proposes the possibility of using vacant lands in apartment complexes for urban agriculture.

수변공원과 체육공원의 중요 속성 (Salient Attributes of Waterfront Parks and Athletic Parks)

  • The revised Urban Park regulations newly adopt Theme Parks in order to enhance richness and diversities of urban services to communities. However, the regulations ambiguously define the main facilities and service programs of the theme parks. And there have been increasing concerns about confusions in terms of the main facilities and service programs of the theme parks among landscape designers/planners, local governments and relevant field of areas. Misunderstanding on the facilities and service programs of the theme parks may lead to ruin the purposes of the new urban park regulations. In the lights of these, this paper tries to reach a consensus for main facilities and service programs of two theme parks including athletic park and waterfront park, based on measured potential users' preferences with a conjoint choice model. For waterfront parks, potential users show low preferences or negative responses to facilities which are perceived as un-environment friendly. They also show high preferences on ecological areas sitting near to streams. For athletic parks, potential users show demand to introduce something different facilities and atmosphere from existing athletic parks. The demands are particularly high for children's play ground facilities and service facilities. This study also show some methodological examples to compute the carrying capacity with two hypothetical alternatives. This approach might be beneficial for local governments which are wish to alternate the park size on the basis of local conditions such as their financial conditions and land availability.
