  • This paper proposes a new training system for equilibrium sense and postural control using unstable platform and force plate. This system consists of unstable platform, force plate, computer interface, software and the computer. Using this system and training programs, we perform the experiment to train the equilibrium sense and postural control of subject. To evaluate the effects of balance training, we measured some parameters such as the maintaining time in the target, the moving time to the target and the mean absolute deviation of the trace before and after training. The result shows that this system can improve the equilibrium sense and balance ability of subject. This study shows that proposed system had an effect on improving equilibrium sense and postural control and might be applied to clinical rehabilitation training as a new effective balance training system.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the effect of a training system for improving equilibrium sense. This training system consists of an unstable platform, a force plate, a computer, and training programs. Using the system with training programs, we performed various experiments to train the equilibrium sense of fifteen subjects. To evaluate the effect of the training system, we measured the time a subject maintains a focus, the moving time to the target, and the absolute deviation of the trace. We analyzed these parameters obtained before and after the training using paired-samples T-test. The results showed that the subjects experienced a distinctive enhancement of their equilibrium senses through the training using our system.

  • In many cases the systems are so complex that it is not possible to obtain reasonable models using physical insight. Also a model based on physical insight contains a number of unknown parameters even if the structure is derived from physical laws. These problems can be solved by system identification. In this paper, Arago's disk system which has both stable and unstable regions is selected as an example for identification and a state-space model is identified using tailor-made model structure of this system. In stable region, a state-space model of Arago's disk system is identified through open loop experiment and a state-space model of unstable region is identified through closed loop experiment after using fuzzy controller to stabilize unstable system.

  • In this paper, we present the development of a new training system for equilibrium sense and postural control. This system consists of an unstable platform, a force plate, a computer, and training programs. The unstable platform provides 360 degrees of movement allowing for training in all directions. To evaluate the effects of the training system, we performed various experiments to train the ability of equilibrium sense and postural control of fifteen young healthy subjects. We measured the time a subject maintains his or her center of pressure on a target, the time a subject moves his or her center of pressure to a target, and the mean absolute deviation of the trace before and after the training. We analyzed these parameters obtained before and after the training using paried-sample T-test. The result shows that the subjects experienced distinctive enhancement in their ability of postural control through the training using our system.

  • Based on the stability margin provided by the EEAC, the unstable contingencies can be classified into sets according to their unstable modes. This two-part paper develops a globally optimal algorithm for transient stability control to coordinate preventive actions and emergency actions. In the first part, an algorithm is proposed for a set of contingencies having identical unstable modes. Instead of iterations between discrete emergency actions and continuous preventive actions, the algorithm straightforwardly searches for a globally optimal solution. The procedure includes assessing a set of insufficient emergency schemes identified by the EEAC; calculating the related preventive actions needed for stabilizing the system; and selecting the scheme with the minimum overall costs. Simulations on a Chinese power system highlight its excellent performance. The positive results obtained are explained by analogizing settlements for 0-1 knapsack problems using the multi-points greedy algorithm.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a new internal model control structure (IMC). It is aimed at unstable overactuated multivariable systems whose transfer matrices are singular and unstable. The model inversion problem is essential to understand this structure. Indeed, the precision between the output of the process and the setpoint is linked to the quality of the inversion. This property is preserved in the presence of an additive disturbance at the output. This inversion approach proposed in this article can be applied to multivariable systems with no minimum phase or minimum phase shift with or without delays in their transfer matrices. It is proven by an example of simulation through which we have shown its good performance as a guarantee of stability, precision as well as rapidity of system responses despite the presence of external disturbances and we have tested this control structure in the frequency domain hence the robustness of the IMC.

  • Uncertainties in the aerodynamic coefficients or time delay effects in implementing an autopilot algorithm can make a Flight Control System(FCS) unstable. When a FCS enters unstable state, the actuator or sensor limiters in FCS make the unstable system not diverge but be in the state of stable limit cycle. If an autopilot recognize the FCS to be in the stable limit cycle phenomenon, it woudl be better to adjust autopilot gains to stabilize the FCS. A novel method to stabilize a FCS using parameter estimation and maintenance of given phase margin is proposed. The method is applied to roll control loop and verified its performance.

  • The axial bearing using two ring type permanent magnets to support the weight of a flywheel is proposed to reduce the bearing loss in a flywheel energy storage , system. Two permanent magnet makes stable force in axial direction but unstable force in lateral direction. The lateral unstable stiffness is identified quantitatively using flux analysis, and then through the rotor dynamic analysis on a rigid flywheel system the unstable effects on the system by the stiffness is investigated.

  • Control Moment Gyroscope(CMG) is one of the most efficient momentum exchange devices for satellite attitude control and essential device for agile maneuver system. This paper presents the details of a designed Single Gimbal CMG with a constant speed momentum wheel and single axis attitude control unstable to stable. In order to keep the naturally unstable equivalent point, it should be controlling the gimbal constantly. The experimental data are compared with theoretical result and requirements are used to verify their performance specifications.
