A landslide was occurred due to soil cutting for construction to expand the Donghae express highway in Dong-hae-City, Korea. The total area of the landslide was about $9,550m^2$ with 100 m of width and 87m of height. The landslide was occurred due to the internal factor of the unstable geological structure including the clay layer and the external factor of continuous heavy rainfalls. As the result of field instrumentation during the landslide, the horizontal displacement of the slope ground increases with increasing the accumulated rainfall by continuous rainfall during the rainy season. Also, the depth of sliding failure was decided by the horizontal displacement distribution during landslide occurrence. It makes sure that the horizontal displacement starts from the depth of sliding failure and the depth of sliding failure matches well with the location of the clay layer. As the slope stability analysis using Bishop's Simplified Method at the landslide area, the safety factor of slope during the rainy season was 0.53. This safety factor of slope was enough to trigger the landslide at this area. The depth of sliding failure obtained by analytical method matches well with the depth of the clay layer.
With the rapidly increasing population density and development of infrastructure, the loss of life and property damage caused by landslides has increased gradually in urban area. Especially, Because Busan has high percentage of mountainous terrain among the metropolitan in Korea, it is unavoidable to develop mountainous region excessively. The objective of this evaluation is to study on landslide hazard possibility for Mt. Hwangryeong in Busan Metropolitan City using the infinite slope model considering the groundwater level. All data related to creating the thematic maps was carried out using ArcGIS 10.0. The results show that FS (Factor of Safety) for landslide is inversely proportional to groundwater level change as expected. Most area indicates stable state in dry condition, and unstable area increase due to high pore water pressure when the groundwater level rise. However, several places in high lineament density area where landslide has been previously occurred, are more stable than other places according to the analysis. This inconsistency between real situation and analysis results indicates that additional analytical method would be necessary to solve the problem. Therefore, we suggest that development of new infiltration theory for unsaturated zone would be helpful to evaluate groundwater level distribution as time goes by.
An important theme of this paper is to search for more genelalities of diversity and distribution pattern on the trampled plant communities in Daegu area. A total of 50 phytosociological releves were analyzed by the Zurich-Montpellier School's method and generalized habitat characteristics by using Euclidean coefficient and PCoA (Principal Coordinates Analysis). Five plant communities were classified and matched into largely two physiognomic types: grass-types such as Eragrostis ferruginea community, Eleusine indica community, Setaria viridis community, Digitaria ciliaris community, and forb-type of Plantage asiatica community only. These plant communities correspond to quite distinctive four habitat types, with both soil stability and moisture in microhabitat conditions: stable-moderate, unstable-moderate, stable-dry, and unstable-dry. Top-ten species showing the highest relative net contribution degree(r-NCD) were Digitaria ciliaris, Eleusine indica, Eragrostis ferruginea, Plantago asiatica, Echinochloa crus-galli, Trifolium repens, Polygonum aviculare, Setaria viridis, Setaria glauca and Artemisia princeps. The front three species showing more than 50% in percent r-NCD possess florescence after monsoon season. It is critically pointed out that the regional ecological differentiations i.e. the Daegu bioclimatic division, the $C_4$-plant dominant season(post-monsoon) of Korean peninsula, and species composition different from Japan's Plantaginetalia asiaticae, are the basis for deriving characteristics of the roadbed trampled plant communities of Daegu.

Since landslide can cause huge damages to many facilities, close characterization of slopes is needed for appropriate reinforcements for the unstable ones in order to prevent the damages. Geophysical surveys, which can characterize a large area at a relatively low cost without disturbing slopes, have been widely employed for the assessment of slope stability in other countries. However, only conventional direct investigation methods are mainly used in Korea. In this paper, we analyzed various cases, which evaluated slope stabilities by characterizing slopes using geophysical exploration. First, we introduced changes in geophysical properties due to unstable media of slope like fracture location, fracture connectivity and distribution of groundwater level, and subsequently discussed the applicability of geophysical methods to the detection of the changes; the methods include electrical resistivity survey, seismic survey, self-potential survey, induced polarization survey and ground penetrating radar. Based on this description, we analyzed how geophysical surveys were performed on various slopes.
The objective of this study is to propose a finite element based design of the dental implant replacing unction and shape of natural teeth. For this, geometric actors were varied to investigate stress distribution of the alveolar bone around dental implant. In this study, the results were obtained based on the theory of linear elastic, with geometrically axisymmetric assumption. Geometric actors determining implant shape are ranged as 0.2mm-0.6mm, 0.04mm-0.1mm, 0.46mm-0.84mm or height of thread, radius of curvature of thread, and pitch, respectively. The stresses in the alveolar bone caused by biting force playa major role in determining implant stability. Especially, the stress concentration in the cortical bone causes bone resorption and finally makes the implant unstable. Therefore, the stress distributions were investigated on the side of the alveolar bone focusing on the area of cortical bone. The maximum von Mises stress was found to increase up to 6% as the height of thread increases, while its value was to decrease to 19% when the radius of curvature increase within the assigned ranges. For the variation of pitch, the larger size of pitch results in greater maximum von Mises stress when the length of the implant under consideration is fixed. The existence of the neck below the shoulder did not affect the stress distribution in the region of alveolar bone. However, the stresses on the side of the implant near the neck were found to be different by 20% approximately. Therefore, the neck can provide the stability of the implant against continuing biting movement. As a conclusion, the finite element based study shows a potential in designing the dental implant systematically.
In this paper, we propose an intelligent face recognition and tracking system that distributes GPU resources using CUDA. The proposed system consists of five steps such as GPU allocation algorithm that distributes GPU resources in optimal state, face area detection and face recognition using deep learning, real time face tracking, and PTZ camera control. The GPU allocation algorithm that distributes multi-GPU resources optimally distributes the GPU resources flexibly according to the activation level of the GPU, unlike the method of allocating the GPU to the thread fixedly. Thus, there is a feature that enables stable and efficient use of multiple GPUs. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed system, we compared the proposed system with the non - distributed system. As a result, the system which did not allocate the resource showed unstable operation, but the proposed system showed stable resource utilization because it was operated stably. Thus, the utility of the proposed system has been demonstrated.

Ecological stability of the Lake Shihwa, artificially made by the construction of the Shihwa Dike, was evaluated by the species composition and variation in biomass of zooplankton. Species composition and seasonal variation in biomass in the seaside stations were similar to those observed in nearby bays and coastal zone. However, those in the lake sites showed very different patterns. The brackish water copepod, Sinocaianus tenellus, held the first rank in every season (with more than 66% in spring, 98% in summer and fall, and 80% in winter). The species composition was very simple and the biomass (in terms of total individuals $m^{-3}$) varied markedly with season up to the order of $10^4$ magnitude. These results imply that the lake ecosystem made by the construction of Sihwa dike is in very unstable stage probably due to the input of industrial wastes as well as unpredictable variation in salt content caused by irregular control of the watergate of the dike and resultant irregular flow direction of the water through the gate.
This study evaluates CMIP5 model performance on rainy season evolution in the East Asian summer monsoon. Historical (1986~2005) simulation is analyzed using ensemble mean of CMIP5 19 models. Simulated rainfall amount is underestimated than the observed and onset and termination of rainy season are earlier in the simulation. Compared with evolution timing, duration of the rainy season is uncertain with large model spread. This area-averaged analysis results mix relative differences among the models. All model show similarity in the underestimated rainfall, but there are quite large difference in dynamic and thermodynamic processes. The model difference is shown in horizontal distribution analysis. BEST and WORST group is selected based on skill score. BEST shows better performance in northward movement of the rain band, summer monsoon domain. Especially, meridional gradient of equivalent potential temperature and low-level circulation for evolving frontal system is quite well captured in BEST. According to RCP8.5, CMIP5 projects earlier onset, delayed termination and longer duration of the rainy season with increasing rainfall amount at the end of 21st century. BEST and WORST shows similar projection for the rainy season evolution timing, meanwhile there are large discrepancy in thermodynamic structure. BEST and WORST in future projection are different in moisture flux, vertical structure of equivalent potential temperature and the subsequent unstable changes in the conditional instability.

The major positive sea surface temperature(SST) anomalies not only occur in the region with the most moisture increase, but also in the flank of the area with sinking motion in the Subtropics. As the large amount of water vapor has been increased by the SST anomaly, the increased of the SST is expected to destabilize the air and leads under moist adiabatic unstable conditions, to an enhanced development of moisture cluster. The 4.0 K change of SST causes the positive difference of Brightness Temperature(TB) of about 10.0k for water vapor channels of TOVS over the north eastern and central tropical Pacific Ocean, but the negative difference of TB of about 7.5 K is shifted southward and southeastward to Southern Pacific Ocean along the equator correspondingly. The difference of the TBs for IR water vapor channel $11(7.3{\mu}m)$ and $12(6.7{\mu}m)$ of TOVS indicative of the moisture distribution during two time periods(January 1983 and 1984), leads us to infer significant changes in the entire tropospheric circulations and the dynamic processes over the Pacific Ocean.
A cut-slope near Guam-Ri Hwado-Eup Namyangju-Si Kyunggi-Do collapsed during a heavy rainfall over 400mm at 28th of August 2000. The cut-slope collapse reportedly developed mainly by block sliding along a set of discontinuities, although slope angle of the cut-slope was 40$^{\circ}$(1:1.2) that agrees with the road construction criteria. This study aims to analyze differences and correlations among several data-collecting methods limited to discontinuity analysis related with cut-slope collapse. This study started with analysing discontinuity surface characteristics, geology of the country rock and orientations of the discontinuities directly related with the collapse. Analysis of aerial photos around the study area provided regional lineament data, and discontinuity plane description and measurements were collected from core logging and Borehole Image Processing System (BIPS). Spearmans correlation ranking coefficient method was used to get correlation of discontinuity planes according to analysis methods. The result suggests that the correlation coefficient is ${\gamma}_s$ = 0.91 Plus, stability analysis of discontinuity plane orientation data using equal-area stereonet revealed that the study area is unstable to planar failure. This study suggests that the cut-slope angles currently applied should be shallower and that significant attention is required to orientation distribution of discontinuities existed in cut-slopes studies.
