How Shock Wave Interacts with a Vortex ?

  • When a vortex diffracts upon encountering a vortex, many strong and weak waves are produced in the course of interaction. They are the cause of shock wave attenuation and noise production. This phenomenon is fundamental to understanding the more complex supersonic turbulent Jet noise. In this paper we have reviewed the research on shock-vortex interaction we have carried on last seven years. We have computationally investigated the parameter effect. When a shock is strong, shock diffraction pattern becomes complex since the slip lines from the triple points on Mach stem curl into the vortex, causing an entropy layer. When the vortex is unstable, vortexlets are brought about each of which make shock diffraction of a reduced intensity. Strong vortex produces quadrupole noise as it impinges into a vortex. Elementary interaction models such as shock splitting, shock reflection, and shock penetration are presented based on shock tube experiment. These models are also verified by computational approach. They easily explain production and propagation of the aforementioned quadrupole noise, Diverging acoustics are explained in terms of shock-vortexlet interactions for which a computational model Is constructed.

  • In this paper, we examined 10 domestic samples of three different model using thermal, humidity freeze, thermal-endurance and damp heat test under IEC61215 photovoltaic module environmental endurance test condition. Three was almost no changes on power generation. Insulation resistance capacity was much higher than judgement standard but, showed unstable results depending on environmental test items. On external appearance test, there were two models which showed bubble, humidity penetration, seal melted frame phenomenon. From this results, the degree of aging under the external environment is a main cause that shortens photovoltaic module life time. So it is considered that the efforts for finding optimum condition of manufacturing process should be needed.

  • A shape resistant shell structure is an extremely efficient mechanical creation because it transmits forces mainly by in-plane forces, but at a certain load level it changes from a stable condition to an unstable condition or vise versa. The instability phenomenon of Geiger-type cable dome structure is generated due to the in-plane twisting near critical load level. Therefore the effect of bracing reinforcement is investigated for the Geiger-type model reinforced by bracing. The effect of initial imperfection is also studied since the structural instability behavior characteristic of shell-like structure is significantly sensitive according to the initial condition.

  • This report describes the experimental research on the flow phenomena of the aq uaous polymer solution within the Cuette flow of the concentric, cylinders type with a wide circular gap. We have investigated the phenomena of the fluid flow through torque measuring in the system that the inner cylinder is stationary and the outer one is rotating. Geometrical parameters of the system are the gap ratio of t/R$_{0}$=0.2 and Aspect ratio of l/t=100. The torque increases considerably in about 420-480RPM, So, it is considered a turbulent transition boundary, the higher plymer concentration is, the lower torque value is and the higher transition Reynolds number is. In each of the polymer concentration, the unstable boundary of torque, that is, idiosyncrasies of torque is observed around 220-280RPM. and the boundary is looked upon as a resonant vibration which is caused by the inner cylinder and tortional vibration of torque sensor.r.

  • In this paper, spray and combustion characteristics of a liquid-fueled ramjet engine were experimentally investigated. The spray penetrations were measured to clarify the spray characteristics of a liquid jet injected transversely into the subsonic vitiated airstream, which Is maintained a high velocity and temperature. The spray penetrations are increased with decreasing airstream velocity, increasing airstream temperature, and increasing air-fuel momentum ratio. To compensate our results of penetrations, the new experimental equation were modified from Inamura's equation. In the case of insufficient penetration, the combustion phenomenon in ram-combustor were unstable. Therefore, the sufficient penetration must be considered to make a stable flame.

  • The floating ring seal has the ability of minimizing clearance without rubbing phenomenon. However, the seal ring can be unstable due to extremely high lock-up eccentricity ratio arisen from the poor design of height and surface finish of the ring. The exact prediction of the lock-up position of the floating ring is necessary to design the floating ring properly. The governing equations are developed and solved numerically. The test facility for the measurement of the boundary-lubrication-friction coefficient of the ring‘s surface has been established. Based on the results of analysis, the geometric conditions of the floating ring seal are suggested for operating at a low lock-up eccentricity ratio.

  • Passengers in a vehicle feel uncomfortable due to squeal noise. Squeal noise, a kind of self-excited vibration, is generated by the friction force between the disc and the pad of the automobile. In this paper, modal analysis of wheel brake system was performed in order to prediction of squeal phenomenon. It was shown that the prediction of system instability is possible by FEM. Finite element model of that brake system was made. Some parts of a real brake was selected and modeled. The normal mode analysis method performs analyses of each brake system component. Experiment of modal analysis was performed for each brake components and experimental results were compared with analytical result from FEM. The complex eigenvalue analysis results compared with braking test. The analysis results show good correlation with braking test for the squeal frequency at an unstable mode.

  • This study proposes a novel control and design method for a grid-connected inverter with an LCL filter without damping. The current resonance phenomenon must be considered when designing the grid-connected inverter system with an LCL filter. Passive or active damping is used in the inverter system to reduce the resonant current. However, passive damping reduces the efficiency of the system, and active damping methods are complex. If the resonant frequency is in a specific region, then the system will be unstable. This study examines the process of stabilizing the entire region without resonant damping. The validity of the proposed method is verified through simulation and experimentation.

  • 스페이스 프레임 구조물은 연속체 쉘 구조물의 원리를 이용하여 매우 넓은 공간을 효과적 으로 덮을 수 있는 구조물이지만 뜀좌굴 및 분기좌굴 등과 같은 불안정거동은 돔형 구조물에서는 더욱 복잡하게 나타난다. 또한 붕괴메커니즘의 이론적 연구와 실험적 연구결과들 사이에서도 많은 차이를 보인다. 본 논문에서는 미적 효과가 크며 단층의 대공간을 확보하기에 적합한 돔형 공간 구조물의 구조 불안정 특성을 접선강성방정식을 이용하여 비선형 증분해석을 수행하고, Rise-span(${\mu}$)비 및 하중모드($R_L$)에 따른 임계점과 분기점의 특성을 돔형 공간구조물의 예제를 통해 고찰하였다. 여기서 불안정점은 증분해석과정을 통해서 예측할 수 있었으며, 예제에서 낮은 ${\mu}$에서는 전체좌굴이, 높은 ${\mu}$의 경우는 절점좌굴이 지배적이며, 낮은 $R_L$에서 정점좌굴이, 높은 $R_L$에서는 전체좌굴이 지배적이고, 전체좌굴이 나타나는 경우, 분기좌굴하중은 완전형상의 극한점좌굴하중의 약 50%에서 70%의 분포를 보였다.

  • 연성구조시스템 중 하나인 막 구조물은 대공간 구조물에 많이 사용되어진다. 막 구조물은 축강성이 강하고 휨강성이 매우 작은 재료로서 구조물의 설계는 강성구조물과는 달리 형상해석, 응력-변형해석 그리고 재단도 등의 일련의 과정을 필요로 한다. 막 구조물의 형상해석은 일반적으로 초기 불안정 상태의 막 면에 초기강성을 부여함으로서 평형상태에 이르게 되는 역학적 메커니즘을 가지고 있으며, 이와 같은 곡면을 해석적으로 구하는 데는 해석상의 수렴 및 발산 그리고 오차 발생에 따른 문제를 해결해야만 한다. 본 논문에서는 막 구조물의 초기곡면을 형성하기 위한 형상탐색기법에 대한 수렴 및 오차에 관하여 연구하고, 적용된 예제의 해석 결과를 바탕으로 해가 수렴해 가는 과정 및 제어변수에 따른 수렴속도 및 효율성을 살펴본다.
