This research was focused on the identification of difficult temperament of childhood. In order to identify the difficult temperament of childhood 336 of 3 and 6 graders were investigated. the difficult temperament of childhood was defined as the cahracteristics which were perceived as difficult for taking care of by mothers related to negative mother's attitude and related to the children's low competence. Mothers felt difficult in caring for the children with high activity and negative mood. Mothers showed negative attitude to the children with negative mood and low persistence. And the children with unpredictability and low persistence had lower perceived competence. In short high activity unpredictability negative mood and low persistence might be said as difficult temperament of childhood, These temperament categories-activity predictability mood and persistence-appeared as one factor in factor analysis. unpredictability negative mood and low persistency were shown as the difficult temperament in other studies but high activity should be examined more carefully.

As the spatial resolution of remote sensing satellites becomes higher, very accurate determination of the position of a LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellite is demanding more than ever. Non-symmetric Earth gravity is the major perturbation force to LEO satellites. Since the orbit propagation is performed in the celestial frame while Earth gravity is defined in the terrestrial frame, it is required to convert the coordinates of the satellite from one to the other accurately. Unless the coordinate conversion between the two frames is performed accurately the orbit propagation calculates incorrect Earth gravitational force at a specific time instant, and hence, causes errors in orbit prediction. The coordinate conversion between the two frames involves precession, nutation, Earth rotation and polar motion. Among these factors, unpredictability and uncertainty of Earth rotation, called UTI-UTC, is the largest error source. In this paper, the effect of UTI-UTC on the accuracy of the LEO propagation is introduced, tested and analzed. Considering the maximum unpredictability of UTI-UTC, 0.9 seconds, the meaningful order of non-spherical Earth harmonic functions is derived.

The purpose of this study was to build a substantive theory about the experience of the maternal uncertainty in childhood chronic illness. The qualitative research method used was grounded theory. The interviewees were 12 mothers who have cared for a child who had chronic illness. The data were collected through in-depth interviews with audiotape recording done by the investigator over a period of nine months. The data were analyzed simutaneously by a constant comparative method in which new data were continuously coded into categories and properties according to Strauss and Corbin's methodology. The 34 concepts were identified as a result of analyzing the grounded data. Ten categories emerged from the analysis. The categories were lack of clarity, unpredictability, unfamiliarity, negative change, anxiety, devotion normalization and burn-out. Causal conditions included : lack of clarity, unpredictability, unfamiliarity and change ; central phenomena : anxiety, being perplexed ; context. seriousness of illness, support ; intervening condition : belief action/interaction strategies devotion, overprotection ; consequences : normalization, burn-out. These categories were synthesized into the core concept-anxiety. The process of experiencing uncertainty was 1) Entering the world of uncertainty, 2) Struggling in the tunnel of uncertainty, 3) Reconstruction of the situation of uncertainty. Four hypotheses were derived from the analysis : (1) The higher the lack of clarity, unpredictability, unfamiliaity, change, the higher the level of uncertainty (2) The more serious the illness and the less the support, the higher the level of uncertainty. (3) The positive believes will influence the devoted care and normalization of the family life. Through this substantive theory, pediatric nurses can understand the process of experiencing maternal uncertainty in childhood chronic illness. Further research to build substantive theories to explain other uncertainties may contribute to a formal theory of how normalization is achieved in the family with chronically ill child.

In this paper, we describe a case study of a new lab. project that improves efficiency for education and interest on learning in image processing and pattern recognition related subjects by using LEGO Mindstorms. In addition we verify the validity with analysis of the practical application. LEGO Mindstorms is already used in many educational institution of several countries since about 10 years ago and various case studies have been published. The use of LEGO Mindstorms is generally positive but the negative comments about this exist. The main cause of negative opinion is from unpredictability. The unpredictability from mainly analog characteristics of robot can degrade the effective learning. The describing lab. project suppresses occurrence of unpredictability by minimizing dependence on robots. Students can concentrate on learning the related algorithms by minimizing the learning content and further consideration.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was two-fold: to investigate the effects of uncertainty and depression on the quality of life (QoL) of elderly people with chronic diseases and to provide basic data on the physical, emotional, and psychological factors affecting their QoL in the field of physical therapy. Methods : A questionnaire covering uncertainty, depression, and QoL was distributed among 320 elderly people. Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to examine the correlation between uncertainty (ambiguity, complexity, inconsistency, and unpredictability), depression, and QoL (physical, psychological, social, and living environment domains) of the respondents; furthermore, multiple regression analysis was performed to identify the factors affecting the QoL of the respondents with a chronic disease. Results : The sub-factors of uncertainty and QoL-"complexity and social domain" (r=-.295, p<.001), "complexity and living environment domain" (r=-.302, p<.001), and "inconsistency and living environment domain" (r=-.360, p<.001)-showed a negative (-) correlation, as did depression and the sub-factors of QoL-"depression and physical domain" (r=-.782, p<.001), "depression and psychological domain" (r=-.876, p<.001), "depression and social domain" (r=-.668, p<.001), and "depression and living environment domain" (r=-.731, p<.001). The factors affecting QoL were complexity (𝛽=-.122, p<.001), inconsistency (𝛽=-.102, p=.002), unpredictability (𝛽=.112, p<.001), and depression (𝛽=-.850, p<.001). The relative influence of the independent variables was in the order of depression, complexity, unpredictability, and inconsistency, and the explanatory power was 77.1 % (F=215.853, p<.001). Conclusion : It is important to help the elderly with chronic diseases reduce the negative impact on their quality of life by helping them gain support from their families and medical professionals and by increasing their understanding through communication so that they can transition from negative emotions to positive emotions of opportunity.

This thesis discusses a performer's unpredictability and immediacy as a prerequisite quality and/or ability to facilitate his/her professional identity as a doer on stage. To examine the key principles and approaches, this research focuses on addressing a specific aspect of the performer's transformative experience from those, directors, and practitioners' concepts that inform and enhance the performer's passive readiness on stage. To be precise, this research attempt to interrogate and articulate the place and role of a performer's internal readiness and/or that of inner looking. The performer's inner intensity as seed of action signifies that his/her body is being in a state of listening to every tiny moment with his/her heightened awareness which in turn lead the performer's body to meet the demands of theatre, the whole-body engagement. Here, this thesis argues that the key principles of acting/training underlies the importance of a performer's ethical attitude and at the same time his/her responsibility for what the performer's choices and experiences within the performative involvement, that is, a process of preparation, are not technical matter but rather, the concepts, and/or approaches from those theatre artists' practical assumptions highlight a process of thorough encountering and/or listening to his/her body. Inhabiting and/or obtaining the principles through the performer's body means being free from his/her unnecessary trait(s) which in turn initiate and then move the whole body according to what is happening in the series of moment(s) on stage. What is more, such an appropriate psychophysical order reminds us of the significance of the nature of human/performer's body, namely, to being in a state of one's 'own' body as oneness. From this perspective, this thesis further argues that the performer's body necessarily need to be affected and/or triggered in a sense of responding to the given circumstance where the performer is working on in the here and now.

In the era of the Internet of Things, 7 billion diverse devices have been interconnected worldwide. Ensuring information security across these varied devices is crucial in this hyper-connected age. To achieve essential security functions such as confidentiality, integrity, and authentication, it is imperative to implement true random number generators (TRNGs). Therefore, this study proposes a method to rapidly characterize the randomness of TRNGs. While there are international standards for formally characterizing the randomness of TRNGs, adhering to these standards often requires significant time and resources. This study aims to help TRNG developers enhance efficiency in both time and cost by characterizing rough randomness and unpredictability. Firstly, we propose applying auto-correlation and cross-correlation metrics for analog signals. Secondly, we suggest adopting joint entropy and mutual information metrics for digital signals.

This study was attempted to identify factors related to the health habit practice in stroke patients of some area. Data was surveyed using interview and questionnaires by 142 stroke patients who visited a general hospital which was located in Seoul from May 3 to June 3, 2010. The results were as follows ; First, there was significantly negative correlation between health information and unpredictability(r=-0.264, p<0.01), and positive correlation between uncertainty and stress(r=0.582, p<0.01). Secondly, as a result of multiple regression analysis,, health habit practice of stroke patients was significantly influenced by age($R^2$=0.62, p=0.000), unpredictability($R^2$=0.096, p=0.006), health information($R^2$=0.055, p=0.005), sex($R^2$=0.068, p=0.003), the usage of stroke therapy($R^2$=0.041, p=0.017). In conclusion, strategies for enhancing health information and reducing uncertainty are needed to promote health habit practice in patients with stroke.

Precarious employment is negatively associated with mental health including depression. The aim of the study is to suggest the multidimensional definition of precarious employment and examine its impacts on depression. Using the fifth save of the Korean Working Condition Survey, we first measured six different dimensions of employment precariousness: temporariness, disempowerment, vulnerability, difficulty exercising rights, unpredictability of working times, and low wage. All of six precariousness indicators consisted of a scale from 0 to 100. Then, we conducted logistic regression to examine the association between employment precariousness and depression. For men, the risk of depression increased by 3.1%, 1%, and 0.5%, respectively, for each one point increase in vulnerability, difficulty in exercising rights, and unpredictability of working times. For women, the risk increased by 0.5%, 2.3%, and 0.8%, respectively, for each one point increase in temporariness, vulnerability, and difficulty in exercising rights. Our findings suggest that not only a secure employment contract, but also their substantive labor rights should be guaranteed for health for workers.

Applications on physically unclonable circuits (PUFs) for implementing and utilizing security protocols with hardware is on the rise. PUFs have the capability to perform functions such as authentication, prevention of replication, and secure storage of critical information in integrated circuits and security systems. Through the implementation of physically unclonable circuits, a wide range of security features, including confidentiality, integrity, and availability, can be applied. Therefore, PUFs are promising candidate to build secure integrated circuits and hardware systems. However, in order that PUFs possess security features, PUFs should possess characteristics such as unpredictability, uniqueness, and robustness characteristics. This study provides a detailed explanation and introduction of the methods to characterize the PUF properties. By applying the results, it becomes possible to quantitatively evaluate the characteristics of implemented PUFs and assess their availabilities for security system applications.
