  • This study will perform the theoretical study of totally dependent elderly facilities- nursing homes, through the characteristics about nursing units and rehabilitative spaces. It will be started from the perception that the highest priority is to derive the ideal design guidelines on nursing units and rehabilitative spaces of nursing homes in Korea. This study aims to represent architectural idea and the examination of typological differences of nursing units and rehabilitative spaces among nursing home plans.

  • The CANDU nuclear-electric generating system, developed in Canada beginning in about 1950, has reached full maturity with 22 units operating in other countries, and 13 units under construction, as shown in Table 1. Production and economic performance of modern CANDU units is competitive with other nuclear generating stations in the world. The safety record of these plants is excellent; their level of safety protection against severe accidents is at least equal to that of other commercial designs.

  • The purpose of this paper is to identify the group of units of finite local rings of the types ${\mathbb{F}}_2[X]/(X^k)$ and ${\mathbb{Z}}_4[X]/I$, where I is an ideal. It turns out that they are 2-groups and we give explicit direct sum decomposition into cyclic subgroups of 2-power order and their generators.

  • In this paper, an inspection and replacement policy in a redundant system is considered. It is assumed that the state of the redundant system is known by inspection. When the system is inspected, it is preventively replaced only if the number of failed units exceeds the predetermined limit. Otherwise, the system is inspected after a inspection interval which depends on the number of failed units. We obtain the optimal number of redundant units, inspection intervals and replacement limit minimizing the expected cost rate.

  • A mathematical model using dynamic programming approach is applied to an optimal unit commitment problem. In this study, the units are treated as stages instead of as state dimension, and the time dimension corresponds to the state dimension instead of stages. A considerable amount of computer time is saved as compared to the normal approach if there are many units in the basin. A case study on the Lower Colorado River Basin System is presented to demonstrate the capabilities of the optimal scheduling of hydropower units.

  • Curved beams are one of the most important basic structural units as well as the beams, columns and plates. Most complicated structures consist of only these basic units and therefore it is very attractive research subject to analysis both the static and dynamic behavior of such units including the arches. The problems of free vibrations of curved beams have been the subject of much work due to their many practical applications.(an ellipsis)

  • Let K be an absolutely real abelian number field with $G=Gal(K/{\mathbb{Q}})$. Let E be a subfield of K and ${\Delta}=Gal(K/E)$. Let $C_K$ and $C_E$ be the group of circular units of K and E respectively. In [G], Greither has shown that if G is cyclic then $C_K^{\Delta}=C_E$. In this paper we show that the same result holds in function field case.

The size measurement units and measuring speed is very inportant to efficiency of human body shape measurement units. By polygonal mirror system, the size measurement units and measuring time can be retrench.

  • From the findings of an exploratory study describing the living environments of segregated Alzheimer/Dementia Units (ADUs), the results relative to environmental cueing reatures, reality orientation aids, and communication/noise control methods are highlighted. Data were collected from a nonrandom, purposive sample of 99 ADUs and their parent long term care facilities in 34 states. Specific recommendations are made about physical features that may assist confused and disoriented residents and contribute to way-finding and orientation in specialized dementia units.

  • A problem of choosing units for the series system and the 1-out-of-2 system from k available brands is treated from a decision-theoretic points of view. It is assumed that units from each brand have exponentially distributed life lengths, and that the loss functions are inversely proportional to the reliability of the system. For the series system the 'natural' rule is shown to be optimal. For the 1-out-of-2 system, the Bayes rule wrt the natural conjugate prior is derived and teh constants to implement the Bayes rule are given.
