This study intended arousal of other viewpoints that deal with and understand spaces and shapes, by describing the concept of 'dimensions' into visual patterns. Above all, the core concept of spatial dimensions was defined as 'expandability'. Then, first, the 'golden ratio', 'Fibonacci sequence', and 'fractal theory' were defined as elements of each dimension by stage. Second, a 'unit cell' of one dimension as 'minimum unit particles' was set. Next, Fibonacci sequence was set as an extended concept into two dimensions. Expansion into three dimensions was applied to the concept of 'self-similarity repetition' of 'Fractal'. In 'fractal dimension', the concept of 'regularity of irregularity' was set as a core attribute. Plus, Platonic solids were applied as a background concept of the setting of the 'unit cell' from the viewpoint of 'minimum unit particles'. Third, while 'characteristic patterns' which are shown in the courses of 'expansion' of each dimension were embodied for the visual expression forms of dimensions, expansion forms of dimensions are based on the premise of volume, directional nature, and concept of axes. Expressed shapes of each dimension are shown into visually diverse patterns and unexpected formative aspects, along with the expression of relative blank spaces originated from dualism. On the basis of these results, the 'unit cell' that is set as a concept of theoretical factor can be defined as a minimum factor of a basic algorism caused by other purpose. In here, by applying diverse pattern types, the fact that meaning spaces, shapes, and dimensions can be extracted was suggested.
A novel class of planar metamaterial unit-cells consisting of a peace logo pattern is presented. A significant advantage of the proposed peace-logo planar metamaterial (PLPM) unit-cell over existing designs is its tunability, simplicity, and compatibility with microstrip structures. The theoretical analysis is founded on the famous transmission-line theory for the metamaterial concept. Then, the tunable dual-band two-sided PLPM (TSPLPM) unit-cell is designed by printing a similar PLPM pattern at the bottom of the substrate. The influence of the bottom PLPM pattern on the resonance frequencies of the unit-cell was analyzed by performing numerical simulations using CST Microwave Studio 2017 and HFSSv15 simulators. The results of the numerical simulations demonstrated that the proposed TSPLPM has the ability to control the resonance frequencies over 50 GHz-75 GHz for millimeter-wave applications.
In this study, a series of laboratory tests based on 'Unit-cell concept' are performed to investigate improvement characteristics of clay ground in sand compaction pile method. Settlement reduction characteristics of composite ground and improvement characteristics of clay part could be qualified. In these procedure, the new strain-compression index($C_{\epsilon}$) of composite ground are adopted to show compressibility of composite ground according to the area replacement ratio, which is similar to the compression index($C_c$) in pure clay ground. Also, using normalization of reduction of water content in composite ground to the initial water content, improvement characteristics of clay part are investigated.
The emerging concept of the 'neurovascular unit' may enable a powerful paradigm shift for neuroscience. Instead of a pure focus on the 'neurobiology' of disease, an opportunity now exists to return to a more integrative approach. The neurovascular unit emphasizes that signaling between vascular and neuronal compartments comprise the basis for both function and dysfunction in brain. Hence, brain disorders are not just due to death of neurons, but instead manifested as cell signaling perturbations at the neurovascular interface. In this mini-review, we will examine 3 examples of this hypothesis: neurovascular mechanisms involved in the thrombolytic therapy of stroke, the crosstalk between neurogenesis and angiogenesis, and the link between vascular dysfunction and amyloid pathology in Alzheimer's disease. An understanding of cell-cell and cell-matrix signaling at the neurovascular interface may yield new approaches for targeting CNS disorders.
In general, under the concept of unit load, Automated Storage/Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) have the rack of equal sized cells. However, they are inadequate and inefficient meeting the various sizes of customers' demands in today's business environment. Higher utilization and flexibility of warehouse storage can be achieved by using AS/RS with tile rack of modularized cell. In this paper, the model of AS/RS with the rack of modularized cell is proposed, and the effectiveness of proposed model is presented by way of numerical examples. The model developed in this research, as one type of AS/RS that is more flexible to the size and has higher space utilization than those of existing rack structure, could every useful for the storage of heterogeneous unit load sizes.

The concept of a microplasma current switch for a device operated in a current mode like organic light-emitting diodes, which features matrix addressability and current switching, is presented as well as its architecture and operational principle. To verify the concept, we have fabricated a 100 mm ${\times}$ 100 mm microplasma current switch panel with a cell pitch of $1080{\mu}m{\times}1080{\mu}m$. Moreover, the current-voltage measurements of the unit cell are performed for three different driving voltage amplitudes. They show the characteristic of an asymmetric floating double probe diagnosing plasmas.
Effective shear modulus of continuous fiber reinforced polymeric composites is measured using a modified Iosipescu Shear Test(IST) and compared with data obtained by finite element analyses that a concept of unit cell is. It is found that the numerical results of the longitudinal shear modulus give a good agreement with experimental data at lower fiber volume fraction. In this paper, both the distance and stress transfer between the fibers are discussed as the major factors.

This paper suggests that testing method and equipment structure to detect potential failures of LCD cells. LCD Cell Aging Tester is the unique process to detect failures related with ASG circuits. This system consists of four components that is Aging chamber, work table, probe contact unit, and pattern generator. The key factor of the concept is temperature aging and HVS driving. Complicated combination of test parameters including voltage, temperature and frequency provided practical burn-in conditions eligible for prediction of mass production.
Auxetic material is a material which has negative Poisson's ratio(NPR). Auxetic material shows some distinctive property like high energy absorbing property and high shear modulus. Among these, synclastic curvature is very interesting characteristic. When synclastic-curvature-material bends, it changes its shape like dome, contrary to non-auxetic material which changes its shape like saddle(anticlastic). This distinctive property could make it easy to manufacture curved structure like nose cone or wing panel in aerospace engineering. In this study, we studied a quantitative analysis about synclastic curvature of re-entrant panel with finite element model. We suggested a concept 'Degree of Synclasticity(DOS)', which means a ratio of curvature of load-direction and load-orthogonal direction. We studied the variation of DOS with two factor, unit cell inner angle(${\theta}$) and load position angle(${\phi}$). DOS decreases as ${\theta}$ increases because the unit cell goes out of auxetic-shape. As ${\phi}$ varies, DOS changes in a large range. So proper optimization of ${\phi}$ would be needed for application.
