The main objective of this study is to explore methods to generate and develop its design concept of the discord generated due to this by deeply considering the existing design concept of a new town or site planning. In particular, in case when designers participate in a process of planning new town, this study aims to reveal methods generating design strategy and basic ideas for designing street furniture through cases study of projects by understanding and analyzing concept of overall space planning and by developing direction for deployment of specific designs. First, further concepts of the space planning, which decides overall flow of visual design concept of street furniture, is extracted through analyses of basic concepts of space design with doing Focused Group Interview among designers and planners. Then, by applying 3V Design Process, alternatives of the concept generation are suggested through methods of storytelling and visual language under the two approach methods of verbalization stage and visualization stage. Also its process were explored through suggestion of designs by developing each idea of the respective concepts into specific design vocabulary.

본 연구는 앞으로 경험하게 될 국가적 혹은 문화적 갈등상황에서 유연한 중재자의 역할을 수행하는 인재를 육성하는 것에 그 목적이 있다. 주요한 학습 내용은 업사이클 디자인 활동을 선정하여 수업에 접근한다. 모두의 문제인 폐기물 문제를 인식시키고 그 대안으로 거론되고 있는 업사이클 디자인 활동을 거쳐 각 문화들의 대표적인 특징과 배경을 탐구하는 수업방식이다. 군포YMCA 회원 학생들을 중심으로 수업은 진행되었으며 각 문화적으로 특징적인 소재를 업사이클 디자인을 통해 제작하였다. 모두 폐기물 재료를 사용하여 페트병으로 아프리카의 기린 만들기, 나무 기둥을 활용한 몽골 텐트 만들기, 소스병을 활용한 스노우 볼 만들기, 티셔츠와 섬유로 조각보 및 러그 만들기, 현수막으로 가랜드를 만드는 활동을 진행하였다. 이를 통해 학생들은 업사이클이라는 새로운 용어를 학습하게 됨과 동시에 환경문제에 관심을 보이게 되었다. 또한 각 문화를 대표하는 상징물을 제작하는 과정에서 그 유래와 탄생 배경 등을 탐구함으로써 타 문화에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓힐 수 있었다.

The future of design relies much on and is only ensured by the fundamental understanding of the dynamics between the ecosystem of nature and that of humans; therefore, having an eco-mind is essential. This study establishes ecological design strategies coinciding with the furniture design process and the furniture product life cycle in production, distribution, and end-of-life. In addition, it provides an overall direction with guidelines for ecological furniture design. The presented strategies focus on the Development of a New Concept; the Optimized Use of Physical Materials-functionality and utility; the Optimized Production; the Optimized Distribution System; and the Optimized End-of-life System. Through taking these steps, we can not only preserve our natural environment and Improve our lives, but also create optimal furniture design which corresponds and integrate with the ecosystem.

This study discuses the strategies for the reestabisgment of Korean textile industry by emphasizing the area of textile design which plays an important role in developing textile materials. The textile industry in Korea has been in stagnancy for a long period of time and appears to find no answer to the problem. The big part of the problem is that the industry itself does not realize the importance of textile design and its management does not understand its critical role in contributing the growth of the industry. To develop textile design, first, we need to foster textile designers who have the creativity, an understanding of international trend and a mind f management. This can be achieved through an education system with a close tie to the textile industry. Second, we need to globalize our textile design in three aspects : design, technology and marketing. A balanced and harmonized progression of these three aspects will guarantee a successful globalization of textile design. This progression, however, demands creativity, identity, and interaction on the design side, digital and networking on the technology side, and culture marketing, brand value, and global agent networking on the marketing side.

Industrial design aiming the mutual benefit of both user and manufacturer demands grasping and analyzing the needa and wants of consumer for the establishrment of the optimum plan and production by attribute oriented approach. Inspite of its usefulness, however, it might be impossible to help industrial designers to develop a new product effectively without full understanding of industrial design activity in attributes of products and using the appropriate methodology for grasping the main attributes. This thesis is purposed for developing the guideline of research models of consumer for industrial design by studying characteristics of industrial design activity in attributes of products through bibliography and defining the clear limit of design research focused on consumer selection through comparison with real purchase decision making procedure at every phase. Through the observation and analysis of the real purchase decision making procedure following the proposed guideline, the possibility of difference between the two cases has been shown in both theoretical and practical aspects.

This study attempts to understanding of outer space elements in a rural house through an analysis nouns for function definition phase in design value engineering. To choose main check objects, this study examines requests by rural dwellers and analyze function definition in design value engineering. The rural dwellers prefers that barrier free design, outdoor working space and security of calamity. Each selected elements are classified the nouns into a main noun by analysis function definition nouns at design VE phase. The nouns are reclassified into the main nouns as a distance, a space, and a form.

As living condition has improved, agreeable living environmental plans that reflect residential traits are needed from. the first stage of house remodeling or interior construction. At the request of above, we need systematically study about the householder's preference according to the life style. The purpose of this study is to suggest the case of preferred interior by understanding preferred Interior image and interior design elements. Document and questionnaire research are used as the method of study. The subjects of research wear 702 persons from 20th to 40th. Contents are constituted with general traits, life style and preferred interior image and the analysis of the materials is quantifical analysis using statistics. In the base of the theory of interior image and interior design elements appeared In the documents, measuring apparatus is made up and suggested preferred examples of interior design depend on life style by combining preferences.

The presentation of the method by which the furniture and the architecture can be unified in one category, and the study and the verification on the mutual relation in the shape and the function are having been consistently made till the late twenties. The change of the social structure such as increasing the unit dwelling space with the small scale comes to need the efficiency in using space and the open dwelling space by the systematic spa-cial formation. Therefore, the understanding of the mean-ing and the characteristics of system furnitures as the design method which can meet such needs will be made here in this study. The application of the systematic consideration as the method of interior design means the formation of the firm image on the spacial environment through the mix-ture and link of the heterogeneous factors, the organic connection of each surface, the establishment of the natu-ral relation by linking the heterogeneous materials mutu-ally. and the easiness of the entire plan in the end. This study aims at analyzing and studying the typical charac-teristics by understanding the historical background and methodical principle which enabled the appearance of this kind of thought, and the adapted cases of the wood and metal material system furniture. There may be difference between the structural sub-stance and formative consideration. Transformative furni-ture which consists of the factors is the concept for the encrease of the multi purpose value by mixing the unit cabinets. One system can be separated horizontally, verti-cally, and to the drawers, and it gives us the disengage-ment from the artificial environment, since all the heights and width can be transformed as per each situa-tion of the space. The factors which can not be found in the other existing furniture are as follows. 1. disengagement from the artificial environment. 2. establishing the new productiosn trend as freed from the customers' fashion trend. 3. presenting the producing condition which leads the exact technology. 4. flexibility of the furniture which enables the reduction and enlargement in each situation.

The purpose of this study is to find out the origin of perpetuity in the fashion design of Soma Delaunay, who was recognized as a unique designer in the 20th century. Her characteristics of fashion design appeared as dynamism in the incline of op-art using geometric pattern designed on the basis of abstract painting, color contrast between strong original colors, and repeated geometric patterns. The modern image can be explained as modernity in modern fashion and is continued in these days. The origins of modernity analyzed as follows. First, Soma Delaunay developed textile design, considering the use of clothing on the basis of scientific idea. Furthermore, she evolved traditional textile design and making process into a practical and rational way through developing new needlework technique. Second, she tried a new style through a straight silhouette in contrast to Art Nouveau style and the test and mixture of different genres. Third, she expressed the simultaneity of Orphism through the parallel structure of various colors. In particular, she used the contrast of strong and clear original colors to express a rhythm of dynamism and give visual interest through color. Finally, Soma Delaunay attempted to approach the public using clothing, furniture, and curtains with the focus on textiles. It may represent her intention to remove a gap between art and life by understanding the public and their life. As examined above, it can be sad that Soma Delaunay's scientific idea with the flow of industrialization, an open attitude not bound by a rule as an artist, an idea of Avant-garde, the comprehension of various colors and the understanding of the public. These factors lie at the bottom of her fashion design.

In this study, we aim to suggest direction for landscape design of residential complex in Korea by studying target areas to understand how landscape urbanism was applied to residential landscape design as it is the majority of landscape design in Korea and by closely examining design elements to be considered for design of residential complex based on landscape urbanism theory. For the purpose of the study, some of public multifamily housing complex were selected as target areas and a survey was first conducted to understand how landscape urbanism was applied to design of these target areas. Then, by analyzing the survey results, we identified which elements were of importance to designing of multifamily housing complexes in Korea and how practical design of landscape urbanism works. From this study, we concluded that landscape urbanism theory is not just about design strategies, but more of comprehensive design methodology covering both operation and management and that such theory can be appropriately applied to design of multi-housing complexes in Korea. We also discovered that in order to apply landscape urbanism in design stage for multi-housing complex, selecting which design strategy/words in the previous study is not what's important, but comprehensive understanding and interpretation of design languages is key.
